holy man I relate to this so much. always feel the last to be thought of, definitly 5th tier once a year friend with all my friends. its lonely and a bit isolating. I make do. id love to have that one or two people that I want to text immediately when something happens, but I just don't have one of those.

ive had a small collection for a while, but actually getting into BTS/kpop is what got me back into physical movies/shows as well. now, i have physical copies of many of my favorite music albums, tv shows, and movies. I've been grabbing movies i love at resell shops, etc for $2-4 here and there - which is affordable, unlike multiple streaming services every month. i dread moving out only in the aspect of getting kicked off the "family"streaming plans, not by my family, but by the services themselves. adding 3 of my favorites: 1. How to Train Your Dragon 2. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 3. Atlantis: the Lost Empire also, Lord of the Rings

Honestly I’m just commenting for the algorithm here, but coffee is actually good for your health. It does stunt growth, however not only is it shown to prolong life expectancy, but it reduces risks of certain diseases and also improves brain health. Explains why you’re so intelligent, imo. I'm also slowly recovering from the huge minimalist bubble of the past several years. I tend to be a bit of an all or nothing person, so my goal was to have very little in my home and I became obsessive. I've never had my own physical media collections because that was long before I reached adulthood, but I'm starting to buy records, I'm dying to get some 4k videos of my favorite movies, and I want to display my favorite books by buying physical copies. I am married so I don't see all our streaming services disappearing no matter how much we buy, but I'll be glad to have a lot of my favorite stuff on hand.

Id say I am a solid 7 in the scale, id like to be an 8. It sounds like we live. similar style of eh.. ha.

I’m 30. Switched from my iPhone pro to a flip phone over a month ago and I love it will be looking into getting a mp3 player pretty soon. I still have my Apple Watch in case I need to pay with Apple Pay though but yes the need to HAVE a smart phone is a bit problematic.

That’s why piracy is a blessing. You can argue about ethics, but you gotta admit the fact that no greedy corpo will ever wipe something from existence if it’s saved on at least one PC. Same with games. I am a person who never pirate games, yet I support piracy in every type and form. Because those miserable animals from Disney or Netflix or Ubisoft or whatever don’t care about legacy or preservation. All they care about is money. People are the ones who truly care about all of this. So if you like having physical media, that’s wonderful. But never underestimate the importance of piracy in the grand scheme of things. Especially in pathetic world of greed and apathy we live in. Long life black sails!

ChatGPT is a hoot.. It started as my midnight therapist. Then I tried my hand at some AI Art, with humble results. Best of all, was when I discovered about prompts and ended up with two half-decent synopses of a Dystopian Victorian romance and another, erotic thriller. It feels like I've found a new creative outlet to play with!:) The only downside, I feel like the graphics limits the user to a PG rating.

Weird. I have a massive digital movie library on a home plex server, but lately I have had the crazy urge to buy physical mediums of DVDs from the movies I already own on my plex library. It’s so bad that I bought on eBay a home DVD Recorder using the now defunct DVD-Ram discs so I can have the same function of the old VCRs, but digitally with the DVDRam discs through TV, Broadcasts, Streaming, and everything else I can run through composite cables so I can make my own DVDs from live broadcasts like I did in the VCR days.

Google/RUclips had a sale on the first season of Breaking Bad. So of course I purchased it. To my dismay a lot of the dialogue (swearing, adult themed language) was edited out. Hold on wait a second. A TV show that I purchased that I supposedly now "own," is edited/censored because Google/RUclips said so?! This was my last straw. Given the problems that you mentioned along with the censoring has compelled me to repurchase physical.

This has been me with books. We have a very small home and to deal with space I began to purge books. I do regret this as many books I once could still get at the library have since been removed. I have begun to purchase again and have added vertical storage on our walls to hold said books.

I don’t know if she was a teacher or what she was doing, but I saw a lady a couple of years ago wearing all Gucci attire with a brief case in hand while I passed her in the hallway. I felt so incredibly bad for her because it looked tacky as hell. She probably paid a pretty penny for it to be such a crusty look. My math teacher, on the other hand, who taught financial literacy classes, never has paid interest on a credit card, wears her old clothes routinely and is nothing but competent and kind (awarded best teacher of the year several times). I suspect she is a millionaire or pretty close to it. I don’t think she has old money from generations, but she has education.

Nothing will ever beat physical media since streaming services can remove movies or censor it and they'll upcharge you so much that you cannot afford it anymore.Streaming services can do whatever they want on their service.But with physical media you can keep it forever and you own it.Digital will never reign supreme over physical media.And if the license expires for digital media it's gone forever.The company has to keep paying for the licensed movie to keep it on.

FYI, I'm a big supporter of plastics. A plethora of plastic containers are strategically placed in my pad. They complete me. They're also insect-proof. Fruit flies in the freezer are charming - even adorable - by NYC standards, since the cockroach is our indigenous arthropod. (If you're lucky, you'll even get the occasional visitation from the extra-large version. I think they're called water bugs, but I'm not 100% sure and don't want look them up.)
