When people say "inflation is going down" it's very important to understand that this means: Inflation is going slower now.... so when politicians say "we can be at ease now, inflation has gone down from 6% to 2%... NO, it means the cost of living is rising with 2% now instead of 6%... so still rising.... what you want is deflation... but economist only want inflation, otherwise you have a crisis.

So much of this rings true for me. I only recently toed into fancier skin care and other than finding a nice under eye cream and an improved SPF (I have high standards) the concept of anti-aging products has never even occurred to me. When I moved from Toronto to the literal desert where I sweat any make up off, I stopped my minimal use and didn't go back when returning to a more temperate climate. I've always thought the best anti-aging product was called sunscreen, wearing a hat and sunglasses. Interestingly, in 2024 I saw the most movies (11) but they were almost all at indie theatres so the ticket cost wasn't through the roof and I will totally do that matinee to save a few bucks. I ditched prime when I realized I didn't buy that much (the fast shipping was silly) and the only reason I still have Netflix was to watch Ranma 1/2. I've really cut back on buying books and using my pretty large county library with some epic ILL (from a tristate area). I'd love to give my seltzer water habit up, but Costco and not dehydrating myself win the day. I think like a lot of middle class people feeling the pinch I'm really starting to notice that I had clothing purchases that I didn't need last year (even if I used ThredUp) and I really need to pay more attention to the small things. The area where inflation went up and is refusing to budge is pet supplies! Kitty litter was a mess during supply chain issues and I'm very picky about my cat's brand of litter. It jumped several bucks along with kibble. No more Royal Canin (which I already cut into Iams) we had to get the cheaper Science Diet dental kibble. Which is an even better excuse for me to buy more! BUT I have decided that cheap nailpolish is where it's at. I'm definitely skeptical about anti-aging cream because I have never done a damn thing for my skin and people keep telling me they think I'm younger than I am. Maybe if you go out in the sun a lot, but...I also have no problem looking my age, even so. We mostly gave up streaming services as well. I only keep one rotating service at a time. I've never heard of Kanopy! I'm really trying to attack my takeout/fast food consumption. I don't mind if it's something I'm really craving but I don't want to order stuff out of laziness anymore. If I'm that busy and tired that I don't want to cook, Trader Joe's frozen meals are cheaper and pretty solid... But kombucha is my weakness. And it's so much more money than sparkling water that I keep trying to save money by cutting it with sparkling water 😂
The inflation comment you made is actually sneaky wordplay from the media. Inflation is the number that things go up by. So inflation being on the decline means prices are still going up, just slower. It's an especially nasty bit of wordplay. Deflation would be what you're thinking of, which is when prices of goods and services go down. We havn't had that in a long time and it's not looking to be on the horizon at the moment. Prices will keep going up.
In my household, carbonated water is considered an essential item. My partner is a recovering alcoholic (2 years, 2 weeks sober and counting!) and it’s common for alcoholics, particularly those who used to drink tons of beer, to turn to carbonated water as a way to get the sensory experience of an alcoholic beverage. Given that carbonated water is much cheaper than beer, I still see it as a way for our household to save money. Not to mention a way for my partner to have a much higher quality of life and be much healthier.
Re your make up and skincare, try recording a video just wearing some lipstick and a little powder (since the lights might make your skin shine in some areas). No one will probably notice the difference. And for skincare, I think as long as you wear sunscreen or moisturizer with SPF you're set. I'm doing a no buy in certain categories this year, namely skincare, toiletries and household supplies (I have enough for years, thanks to over buying during the pandemic). You should definitely do some follow up videos on how these changes are going for you.
I probably will revisit if I'm able to hold strong to my no-buy resolutions. 😅 Skin and lighting, i.e. lighting with glasses and acne scars is a whole production which I believe I will talk about in a future video!
It took me until the 15 minute mark watching this during my morning routine to notice your mic was a rose 😅 On expiration dates, they are phony - especially for powder products. I haven't bought any powder eyeshadow for 5 years and am very happy healthy. But cream products go bad eventually so I might replace that eyeliner lol

Your skin renews evey 2 to 4 weeks. So expensive skincare ist basically wasted.
Eating out is also a problem for us. Sometimes you are just too tired to cook or meal plan.
@@teresachaotic.corner It's such a real struggle. But the restaurants here also aren't very exciting so it makes the cost extra aggravating...
Government will NEVER allow deflation.
You make me laugh. I needed that. 😂😊
💕thank you!
In this context, you need to buy all the carbonated water!
I didn't expect an extended Waterworld analogy but it fits
Really enjoy ur vibe and listening to you 🤓 I also think ur glasses suit you super well (I also love mine) & yayyy to rocking our grey highlights! ❤️
🥰 Awww thank you!
Omggg lol I had to fast forward bc I was trying to eat lunch while watching and I was not prepared for the marinating 🙈
You are now a member of my whine club. I used to buy books and movies every month but I have drastically curtailed it. 90% of my food is Walmart Great Value. I could go on and on but I'll spare you.
Wine or whine?
Hi Teresa! I certainly feel like I'm scooping out the water from a leaking boat. Your opening was paricularly bleak and depressing, with imagery and words like delete, marinating and turd standing out, and the instance of the missing fourtune cookie fortune was very Charlie Brown-ish. You turned it around after that beginning and I agree with you that many movies are way too long.Your make up woes were pure "TERESA", full of chaotic fun and intensly you. As a 175 year old fan I'm sure I'll enjoy your future productions, and will still watch even if you don't wear make up!!
'tis the dark humor. 😅
i cut my own hair lol just kinda mulan it and fix it up
You really suit glasses btw!
thank you!
Remember the female outrage over the make up removal app?
Stay safe!
agree with p much everything but i will say, challengers is that long so they can draw out how badly the 2 men are down for one another and play most of it out in slo-mo LMAO
you've thought this out :)
trueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the rich; they'll put rent up to stray rich!

The writing is on the wall, everyone is in denial. I'm bailing on the USA. I'm a lucky millennial who actually owns a house, getting close to selling it all and moving to Japan. I'd prefer 10-15 years of japanese life than 20-30 years of overpriced, expensive mundane drudgery in the USA/Canada. 10 years of amazing fulfilling life in Japan and then just call it... lol.
I'm about to turn 40... If I could sign a deal with the devil that said "You could live in Japan but be dead at 55 or live in the USA and be dead at 75." Easy answer.
I'm selling my place and moving there this summer, too. Just waiting for the visa approval. I started planning to leave a few years ago and things just seem to be getting worse. I know everywhere has problems, but, on top of everything, Americans seem so divided right now that it seems impossible to work together to solve our issues
Tell us how to get Japanese citizenship!
@@teresachaotic.corner My plan is to just use the 3 month VISA and head to Vietnam or Thailand every 3 months to renew it. It's only $100 to fly from Japan.
@@teresachaotic.cornerit’s virtually impossible to get Japanese citizenship without biological connection.

the runtime argument is so sad. many movies do deserve the longer runtimes. not all of them. but imagine having your attention span so shot that you aren't sure movies are worth 3 hours of your time. people will sit down and binge watch 2 seasons of bridgerton in a week but won't spend 140 minutes watching challengers?
the economic argument is also in the wrong direction. shorter runtime or longer runtime, that ticket costs the same amount of money. it serves the studios to have shorter films.
I’m down with the long run times but I’m gonna need an intermission if the movie is past 2 hours 😂
well, hopefully it gets better soon
you think its bad there. dont even begin looking overseas. Phew, deery me
Yes, there will always be someone out there who has it worse. This rhetoric is totally unhelpful and honestly gross.
@ducky19991 that's not what I was going for. More that it's getting rough generally and we are feeling much the same. Empathetic not judgemental intention

It’s so annoying. I went on a trip to Europe and strolled around grocery stores and it made me even more mad. Because whyyyyyy is it so expensive here and not other places
