Watershed Overlook
Добавлен 25 апр 2021
Using my Kubota LX2610 to do some chores at our place in the heart of Virginia's Chesapeake Bay watershed. I'm likely to make some boneheaded mistakes along the way, so hopefully someone will benefit from my missteps. I maintain a mile long private road with my EA Wicked Xtreme 66" Box Blade, cut up things with chainsaws, work on boat projects, and more. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you hang around!
042 — JUST CLEARING SNOW... | 1975 WHEEL HORSE B-80
We got an unexpected follow-up snowfall to the one earlier in the week, so I set up the cameras and did a little snow plowing. Not really any talking in this one, just pushing snow with my 50 year old 1975 Wheel Horse B-80 4-speed garden tractor.

041 - CLEARING SNOW | KUBOTA LX2610 ALTERNATIVE? | Wheel Horse B-80
Просмотров 65614 часов назад
A major snowstorm moves into Virginia. As always, we are situated right in the nebulous snow/sleet/rain zone. If the snow shows up, I won't be clearing snow with the Kubota LX2610 this time, but with my small-but-mighty snow fighter. We'll go over this tractors history and features, comparing it to a “modern” machine. #WheelHorse #B-80 #SnowBlade LINKS: Red Square Wheel Horse Tractor Forum www....

It is always a good day when you can enjoy a days work on a 50 year old garden tractor
@@GardenTractorBoy Couldn't agree more, Joseph!
Hello from NJ...your home is beautiful!!! I am happy you moved your truck!!! I continue to really like your lawn tractor. Hi to your sweet Ann.
@margaretmatthews511 Thanks, Margaret. Say hello to John as well. 👍
Oh wow! Look at that. You have more snow than we do! Not fair 😭 love the old machine. Thanks for sharing Chris
@RossOnTheLand Thanks Ross! 🇨🇦😎🇺🇸
Just what I needed on a Sunday morning! Some funky snow-removal! You're like a kid in a candy store! Nice!
@davidhughes254 Nothing like some morning snow clearing on Red, followed by some quick video editing, dinner at Charred, concluding with a single-barrel Old Fashioned on a Saturday night! Cheers, my friend. 👍🥃😎
Good Morning Chris. Great seeing the ole Wheel Horse in action. Have a great week. ❄👍
@bobpurs Thanks Bob, you too. 👍🙂
Love your Wheelhorse Chris! Especially those front lights Sweet machine I would be proud to own it too
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Thanks Gary! 👍😎
Good morning Chris! ☕️☕️. Love knowing the difference between northerners and southerners 🤣🤣🤣
Good Morning Mon Ami 😇🖐🖐Love The Introduction ( running before its all melted 🤣👍👍) You are doing very well with your Very Nice 1975 Wheel Horse B-80 👍🧐👌Very Good Tire traction going up that hill 🧐👍 Very Interesting the way the camera move toward right and left !!! ( I think it is done by the image editing from a wide angle view !!! ) 👍👍🧐 Very Nice ( Noel ) Sign 🧐👍👍 Nice Dodge Truck Cheers 🍻🍻
@RCAFpolarexpress Thanks David. You are correct. All the shots (except the hand-held on the sidewalk) were static camera shots. The pans left and right, and the zoom-ins and pull-outs were all done in the edit. 👍
Thanks, I am glad you are posting again. I really like your content and the 50 year old tractor is perfect!

Thank you sincerely, Chris. That was really an enjoyable video. Ayn said it was very calming. Sorry you had to edit twice!
@@MyClutteredGarage LoL Ed...not sure how "calming" will translate to the algorithm, but I truly do appreciate the sentiment! We're expecting a few more inches tonight, so fingers crossed. Be well, my friends.
Hello from NJ!!! I love your garden tractors!!! It looks like we got more snow here. I do like your camera angles AND your photos.
@margaretmatthews511 Thanks, Margaret! A bit more snow in the forecast tonight, so fingers crossed 🤞!!! (I love that Wheel Horse too. 😉👍)
Good to see you Chris. Happy New Year bud, love the wheel horse. I thought the LEDs were really bright but realized that it was you smiling like a kid at Christmas. Only takes a computer to really screw something up! ☹️ Take care 😊🌴🇺🇸🇨🇦🥃🍺
@MannistoCay Ha! Thanks Mark. You are 100% correct...every time I'm on that Wheel Horse I can't help the big, sh*t eating grin on my face! 😁 Hope the leg is continuing to heal nicely!
@ it’s getting better every day. 😊
Great video, Chris. They don't make them like they used to. I hope you guys get some snow to put that beast to work! The snow has been light this year in Utah, but I did get the top and tilt kit ordered for my LX3310. I sure appreciated your help in getting the right valves ordered up. Thanks again for your help! Alex
@drbankhead1 Thanks Alex, and glad to hear about the TnT for your LX. As I type this, we are expecting a few (4ish) inches of snow overnight. Fingers crossed 🤞!!!
Morning Chris! Yup, the weather does it's own thing - seldome accurate. The video - LOL - I feel your pain - lucky you kept the files from the cameras and had not deleted them. :)) have a great weekend!
@GPOutdoors Thanks, Gord. Looks like you guys have been enjoying the white stuff! Cheers. 👍🇨🇦❄️🇺🇸
It is great to see a video from you. These old garden tractors are fantastic and will last forever assuming that they are maintained. Your Wheelhorse is in great condition and it is good you have got your ganddad's tractor back. A C-160 is a cool machine, it would be worth looking out for one to have in addition to your B-80. We find that we use our garden tractors far more than our compact tractor which tends to only get used for heavy lifts on the FEL. The snow action looked fun and I am pleased you were able to rebuild your video
@GardenTractorBoy Thanks, Joseph. You're right about the old garden tractors on all counts! 🇬🇧 Happy New Year! 🇺🇸
Great to see that old Wheel Horse clear some snow. I’m sure you enjoyed it as well! It’s nice to see some content from you. Really enjoyed it! *Keep on tractoring!*
@ritterjon Thanks Jon, I've missed being here!
Great video Chris. Sure brings back memories. Many hours on a 1055 that was my Grandpa's. He passed and my Dad got it and I grew up Mowing, Plowing snow on that tractor. Man that thing would push snow. We also had a snow blower that we'd put on if the snow got Deep. If I remember right it was a 1964. Dad and Mom moved out and I had it for awhile but didn't have room for it. Stored it for awhile at Friend of my Parents house and not sure what happened to it. Kick myself for not keeping it. I am going to find one someday. I have look for it but never found it yet. Anyway Great video and great to see ya again. Keep up the good work and I will be looking forward to your project with the Blade. Sure am thinking and Praying for Ed and Ayn. Have a great week.
@bobpurs Thanks Bob. I love those old Wheel Horses. It's crazy what you can do with an old K-series Kohler single cylinder and a beefy transmission! I hear many stories just like yours...I'm one of the fortunate few to bring a lost one back home! Thanks for watching. 👍😎

@maintenancewithmike Thanks Mike. "Solid" is a perfect description! Yeah, the older I get, the more frustrating technology gets. I'm sure it's not me, right? 😉🙄
Enjoyed the full watch Chris
I have had that very same thing happen with me on a couple occasions. One was a project that I had put together for the family of a RUclips Tube friend who was killed by a dump truck driver who was texting and crossed the centerline and hit my friend head on while driving his gas delivery truck. My friend was killed instantly. I wanted to put that tribute together for his family and still hope to. I had everything stored on my I pad . I think I will paint that stupid thing grey and use it for a boat anchor. At least that will it will have some value!
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Thanks for the watch and comments, Gary. Very sorry to hear about your friend. That's a tough one.
Good morning Chris ☕️☕️
Great video, Chris. Those old garden tractors were beasts! It's nice that you got your grandfather's tractor back. Aren't we all still 12 year old kids at heart? - Rick

very good definition of the types of valves and their uses.
@@FrankieMozzarella Thanks! 👍😎
Had one of those "Fancy-dancy" / kubogy 'stearing wheel spinners '. That 20.°°$ piece of JUNK "Craked-n-Craped Out" in 9.5 days. I was GLAD it Was GONE !!! It just liked to Snap my wrists & fingers. My POWER STEARING / Still Werks Flawlessly after 1200 hours in the last 7 years; & it ONLY TAKES ONE Finger to MOVE IT ! A TOTALLY USELESS "ADD-ON" / unless you are not stronger that a "6 year old" ! Shure liked that "Ratcheting Side Link". Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio and happy safe tractoring. Best wishes with all your endeavours.
Very helpful videos. I have the exact same tractor and just hit 52 hours. I believe those copper washers are actually called crush washers. They can be re-used but should really be replaced every time. On the hydraulic filter (messy one) change, my dealer suggested I use a shop vacuum to apply pressure and reduce spillage--not that I have done it yet.
@sailorcto Thanks for watching, and glad you found it helpful. 👍 I too have heard about the shop-vac trick...think I'll give it a shot next time! 😎
I really appreciate your video. Thanks!
@@Rook02715 Thanks! I appreciate you watching! 👍😎

@ryanlynch2259 Thanks Ryan. It doesn't suck....😉😄👍
Hey Chris, Could you please send me your physical address. I have something I would like to send you Thanks Chris, and HAPPY NEW YEAR
Merry Christmas Chris and thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I saw your list in the description and was confused as I saw three valves listed. Your parts listed helps. I thought a second lever would be included when you bought a second valve? Makes sense they would make you buy another lever. Side note to others: I used the Kubota configure tool on their website and as of the past few days it doesn’t list the part numbers when you go to the rear valves area on your build.
Great video Chris! I have a LX3310 and want to add top and tilt. I use the same blade as you and a landscape plane. I am confused which two valve kits I need buy. I want one with a float/detent. Do I purchase the B7306 and B7305 valve or is there a combo you would recommend? Thank you!
@drbankhead1 Merry Christmas, and thanks for the kind feedback. The part #s I ordered should be in the video description (B73XX), although to be honest, there was some confusion about them. Not trying to pass the buck, but I would definitely recommend talking to your dealer to make sure you get the correct parts. For stuff like that I always talk to my salesman...I sometimes get better pricing than just going straight to the parts counter. Good luck! (BTW...it's the BEST thing I've done to my tractor. I'll never again have a tractor without a hydraulic top link!)
Harbor Freight sells an ammo can that fits the same foot print as the factory Kubota toolbox and it only costs 10 ish or so dolllars. It's twice as big and water proof.
I added grab hooks to my bucket, but I used bolt on hooks…absolutely necessary.
Did you ever paint the packout box?
@@carlanderson9519 I did. I'm way behind on editing, but you should be able to see it in an upcoming video. Thanks for watching. 👍😎
With "Kubogy's " Priceing-stradegedy" ( Everybody pays the same price). I would of been VERY Happy "IF" my Dealer would of Given ME a 47 CENT / Rebate for a "Tool-Box Delete Program"...... The "Joke" was ELIMINATED 45 SECONDS after the Delivery of the 42,000$ tractor, & sits under the Werk-bench/ Empty & USELESS.
Lol! Thanks for watching. 👍😎
Clearly I’m not the brightest. I can’t get this PTO to extend lol. The measurements are good so I don’t have to cut it but how do I extend it
@@timothykidd7193 I'm guessing it's just a little seized up from storage. I imagine some brute force should solve the issue...👍😎
I have 4 of the six. I have purchased the added on lights and a backup camera but have not installed yet. I do have the third function on the front but have not added the rear remotes as yet. However there are three items that you did not mention that are also a game changer for my use. #1 is the grill guard!!! The first time I used my tractor I got a stick into the front grill which fortunately did not penetrate the grill or the radiator but made me aware of the potential. I ordered a custom powder coated to match steel grill guard for $350 and installed it myself. #2 is the fiberglass canopy. It was $650 installed and color matched to my tractor. Very nice to keep the weather at bay and the seat dry :) #3 is unique to my kubota grand L 3060 tractor. It was an add on for $65 installed cruise control Oooo very nice to prevent driver fatigue. As it can be easily set at any speed and continues at that speed until you hit the controls. So mowing or ? At a consistent 3 mph is no problem. Anyway those are my favorites and are well worth the $’s
@4leapfroggy All excellent choices! I would love a canopy, but my garage doors at the Overlook and at home both require that I lower the ROPS, so that would be problematic. Whenever I get around to the third function, I'll definitely be adding a grill guard! As to the cruise control...it comes standard on the LX, although I don't use it a ton. Thanks for watching! 👍😎
Full watch Chris
Wow! That sign is amazing! What a gift!
@@tractortalkwithgary1271 My thoughts exactly!
Just found this video Chris. Haven’t heard or seen anything from you in a good long while. Everything alright Chris?
@tractortalkwithgary1271 Hey Gary, all is well, just tied up with life. Just finished a big project...editing, editing...😉👍😎
Agreed, most LX owners would love this. In the big picture, why isn't this standard equipment on any LX? It would certainly raise the bar for tractors in this class (hint, hint Kubota). I have the added fun of removing the backhoe (no regrets on adding that to my order, but it was spendy) and capping off the hydraulic connections there. I don't think they could be used for the top link project, because the remotes on actually on the backhoe.
@@sailorcto Yeah, I guess the backhoe would add another level of complexity. Hadn't thought about that! Good luck. 👍😎
