      FYI, I love my EA products, however they have recently been having some financial issues related to some legal battles. They went completely dark and silent for about six months and have only recently popped back up and started posting again. You may want to give them a couple of months to make sure they are up and running, or at least confirm they have COMPLETED product to ship before ordering. Also, I did hear they were about to launch a new website...that's likely why the link no longer works.

  • @benkanobe7500
    @benkanobe7500 21 день назад

    I could use your help. I am new to tractors and all things that connect to them. I just purchase a rotary cutter using some of the criteria you were using when shopping. I wanted quality construction and not all beat up. I was able to obtain that. However, West of the Mississippi and further West of the Colorado, and way South of San Francisco (San Diego) where there is little agriculture these days, attachments/implements are really expensive even very old and beat up. I thought I did good until I discovered my Rotary Cutter company was no longer in business. Maybe purchased by Rhino or their parent company. Mine is a "Servis S-5" (five foot). I have no clue where I will get blades (it needs them) or the pivots. Also, the connection of the top link (I don't use Quick Hitch) has been modified with an additional part by the previous owner so I am not sure where/how it is supposed to pivot up and connect to the top link from my three-point as there are no other pivot points. I can connect it, but it will be rigid and even I can understand that would be bad. Is there a book, a website, anything that I can use to understand the geometry of how the top link is supposed to connect to the top of the Rotary Cutter? I really love the construction of my Cutter. It is super well made with very heavy gauge steel for everything and chains to prevent things being thrown out at me or anything around me and Zero rust anywhere with good paint. The gear box and blade assembly turn easy and smooth with no noise or play. The PTO shaft looks nearly new and has all the guards and quick connects. It is shear-pinned but I think I am going to purchase a clutch (old tractor with an over-ride clutch for the PTO Shaft) to protect both my Cutter and especially my Ford Jubilee (with update PTO spline size). My older Brother would always tell me growing up: "The first thing you learn about a new Hobby is you bought all the wrong stuff". I don't want to prove him wrong once again. Thoughts? Thanks!

    • @watershedoverlook
      @watershedoverlook 20 дней назад

      Sounds like you got a nice unit. I am unfamiliar with that brand, but that doesn't mean much...I'm certainly no expert. A quick Google makes me think you may be correct about Rhino, and if so, I'd start there. I did find a reference to Servis models Saturn 5 and 6...maybe that is the "S-5"? Just a thought. Good luck. 👍

    Coincidentally, I just received EMP's ROPS mount chainsaw rack. Their corporate culture must be against instructions, since there wasn't a hint of how to mount it, and there was considerable hardware to install. I suppose the pictures on their website are supposed to suffice in lieu of instructions, but they're so small it's difficult to make much sense out of them. The swag coosie and sticker is a nice touch, though. You're completely correct regarding storage on the Kubota, and from what I've seen, just about every other manufacturer. Replacing the Mickey Mouse box that came on my MX4700 was one of the first things I did to accessorize it.

When picking up the parts my dealer Kyle told me about the “shop vac trick” to decrease the hydraulic fluid leak during the filter change. I ordered the same size at the woods company, brand new and they delivered it to us for $1600. So far you spent over $1200 on a used one, plus I don't know how many hours you worked on it. You actually lost money with this used brush hog but you did a great job fixing it.

    • @watershedoverlook
      @watershedoverlook Месяц назад

      Thanks for watching Ashley. As to losing money on this, we'll have to agree to disagree. I've got roughly $1200 in a rotary cutter that is all new, except for the deck shell, which has some surface rust and faded paint, but is solid and straight. Charging myself for labor kinda defeats the whole idea of "sweat equity". So we have basically the same unit, but mine is not quite as shiny. As to your cutter, all I can say is that price is astounding. I can't find any listings for a new BrushBull 60 selling for less than $3,100. Whoever you bought it from...you better save their number! 😉👍

    Hey Chris. Had mine for about 4 years now. I use a cheap adjustable strap to suspend the shaft at the right height so I can use both hands. Also every time I install it I spray as much penetrant on the locking pin mechanism as possible! I don’t use my quick hitch with it so that might make it a little easier. And ya, the clip on the chain is serious!! Does a great job though…enjoy.

      Thanks for watching Bruce. I like the penetrant idea! And I agree...it does do a great job, especially for its size and price point! 👍😎

    Chris I had to cut a couple of my PTO Shaft Plastic guards back some to get my hands in there. It is aggravating for sure! I'm not sure what is worse the button lock or the Collar Lock that you have to pull back. Good video. Hope you week is good.

    I use Pat's Quick Hitch and there is a lot more room to get into the PTO hookup without the top link and quick hitch frame in the way. Love my WG24 grinder. I do take as much of the horizontal sway out as possible so the grinder is less prone to jumping around when grinding. Plus, when I take mine off, I place a 4x4 under the back of the grinder to hold the blade off the ground so I can turn it to align the shaft if needed. I've ground probably close to 200 stumps with mine.

      That 2x4 idea is a good one. I'm going to look into adding one to the dolly it rests on. Thanks. 👍

      @watershedoverlook, hey Chris! Great to see you back out on the LX again! One thing I thought of, that I actually picked up from @gpoutdoors (thanks, Gord!!), was have you thought about an overrun clutch? Gord did a great video explaining the use for one, and it's benefits, including about 4" - 6" extra length from the output shaft, and reduced wear and tear on the tractor during deceleration of the implement. May be worth looking into. I'm awaiting delivery of an MX9900 wood chipper for the back of my 3310, and I bought an overrun clutch for that, as it has a 225 lb flywheel. Of course if you do get one, you'll have to check and potentially cut your PTO shaft a little. Good luck Chris, and take care! -Tyler

      @tylerd4522 Thanks Tyler. Actually, I do have an overrun clutch (that I purchased for an attachment that I bought but haven't talked about on the channel). I did consider using that, although I'd need to recheck the shaft length. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍😎
