305 engines are good engines if you put a 350 cam in it the 305 cam sucks, The engine and trans would of fit in there but you need to have the front end of the car up higher then what it is. I use car ramps put the car up on that and then put the engine trans in.

That's a pontiac not a Vega even though it's based on off the vega body. Parking a car on grass it so good for thee undercarriage of the car because all the humidity and water will rot out the floors on a car. A good friend of mine did that to a good car ad when he went to fix the car he floors were soft and needed to be replaced just because od the damn grass. Just a FYI

White or black wheels.

For the manifolds, I used the 1977 Chevy Monza 292CI-V8 exhaust manifolds. They fit well. I needed, however, to make a slight indent with a grinder or lathe on the driver's side manifold to keep the engine from rocking into the steering shaft. There were no clearance issues with the correct positioning of the motor mounts connected to the frame and the steering box. Good luck and peace and assembly grease!

Years ago, early 80’s or so, a friend painted his 1938 Hotrod Chevy dashboard with primer then cleared it. It turned out really nice. I’m in the process of painting my dear departed parents 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo with Rustoleum Turbo white spray cans. I’m doing a panel at a time at my leisure and I must say for a cheap paint job it looks pretty decent. The coverage is phenomenal. Give it s try! 👍😎

Surprisingly nice. I have wondered about something similar, a simple high fill flat black primer as a base with a simple clear coat over it.

I'm not far away, just south of Peterborough. What clearcoat did you use? I have 2 older trucks Needing paint and was planning on doing it before weather turns here. Last truck I painted almost broke the bank buying single stage from APC. Would like to shoot Beautitone Alkyd RustCoat, as I already purchased it, but could get a gallon of Tremclad no problem.

I like the way you painted your ride, it's old school ways that work. You don't need some overpriced overrated high end products for great results. I've got over 40 years of body and paint under my belt & have worked in collision, restoration shops, used car & rental cars, custom bike shops across America. If you're happy with the results & it's your car, who gives a flying f_ _ _what other people think. The car looks gr8👍🏻 Keep the slots on it too. Or sell them to me.😂

I'm glad I found this video I have a 1975 Ford Maverick that had been sitting for about 20 years under a car cover and a tarp it wasn't quite as hateful as the car you're doing it doesn't have any big dents but I don't have all the equipment to spray and I don't have a booth so I do want to learn how to use spray paint i watched thiss like 4 times thanks for all the advice and help. 👍👍

This brings back some memories. I V8 swapped my ‘77 Vega back in 1989 on a high school budget. I used a V8 swap kit made for the Vega, corvette exhaust manifolds, short water pump, and a V8 Sunbird rear end after the original blew apart the spider gears. Trans crossmember just moved back one set of holes. The car handled like crap but it was quick! Eventually the car started to twist, doors didn’t want to shut, and the windows started leaking. Traded it for a ‘78 Firebird. What a fun project.
