In this video we are working on our 1969 Dodge Charger that was once used as a movie stunt car in the movie The Man From Toronto with Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson. The rear quarters were in really rough shape and needed to be cut off the car using grinders and new reproduction body panels were welded in place. The rocker panels were also so full of rust they had to be removed. There was also a lot of body filler where metal was supposed to be. Once the old stuff was removed and the new stuff was in place the car was sanded down and primer was sprayed. This was just to protect it from rusting as we will be sanding and applying body filler and eventually priming everything again before painting the car. Please feel free to leave any tips or tricks that you have learned over the years that might help us in rebuilding this icon of american muscle!
We have another project coming out next week so keep an eye out for that!

I know it'd be great to have a nice big clean shop, but your shop is probably more like everyone's shop out there. I love it
Yes, a nice clean shop would be awesome, but I think you are right. They just get so dirty when doing work haha
I love that the shop is a complete disaster 😂. I’m not the only one.
Haha, ya we try, but it just keeps getting that way
Exactly! Pristine shops are weird. Chaos Shop is way more relatable!
A good working shop - all good -
I live down here in Oklahoma. We would have sent that back out to you because with that much cancer, we wouldn't work on it. It'd be a parts car. You are doing a fine job, young. man 👍👍👍
Thank you very much! Ya sadly up here these are still worth money. This was borderline, some would have used it for parts, but for us it was in our budget range haha
Great pacing, editing, camera work, voice-over and content. Cam's personality is hilarious.
Thank you for that comment! We are tying to make the video stop notch, and ya he's a fun dude!
Yeah - Cam is always the laid back - "im kinda tired workin this 4 days and gotta get to my other jobs thing" - all good
There is no way i would pay that for the sill replacements either. Coming along nicely just little by little is a good approach. Keep em coming 👍 👌
So expensive! I'm sure they align way better, but this car was already so far gone, three had ND made rockers turned out good and will do just fine. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Colour suggestion! “Citron
Yella” a 1971 Mopar colour option that was used on the 69 Charger in the movie Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
Cool! We'll mention it to him! Now I gotta go find this movie
$1600 per quarter , yes AMD sheet metal is expensive , but so worth it if you can afford it, it was $3000 for two quarter panels ,for my 1974 charger, I have quarter skins from years ago but are so flimsy , they bend if you look at them sideways, the ones you bought seem to be way better gauge than the ones I have.
Nice fab work on the rockers Cam! Always rewarding making your own parts, and Tim keep track of your days 😂, and thanks for Getting this out for us!👍🇨🇦Ricky
Ya sometimes it's a case of you get what you pay for, but with a little struggle these panels worked. Are you done your charger now? If you aren't too far, you should think about coming to Autofest in Uxbridge Ontario this summer. Its going to be huge!
@@RustedRides I’m gathering the parts I need to get started ,and need to build a frame jig to replace the front subframe , but once it’s done( in several years!😂) I will make that trip from Alberta,
my childhood dream car general lee thank you for bring it back to the road
The General Lee is an icon, and we've thought about going that way with it. We have a few cool paint ideas now, just need to find more time to work on it! Thanks for the comment!
I saw another comment about doing a complete restoration to make it look exactly like the car in the movie it was in, but obviously way better because of the amazing work you guys do. But painting it a fun colour would also be cool. I'm torn! Thankfully we all still have time to think haha
Also Cam you are a wizard with sheet metal. I had a rusted 1999 Volkswagen Beetle and the rockers on those were trash, complete with matching blue duct tape lmfao. Places wanted a ridiculous amount for replacements, so I ended up just selling the car.
I have always loved plum crazy but the hellcat color hellrasin is a modern twist on that look that would be very unique!
Just checked it out! Ya that is a cool purple!
Nice to have a new Charger video out!
about time eh!
Canadian red I think would be a good color and maybe some white stripes down the side
That would be a cool color scheme, like red with the RT style stripe that the new Challengers have?
I think a blue and black combo would look cool on it. Been watching this channel since before you had a 1000 subscribers and now I see your channel is growing as it should. Enjoy watching what you do and I hope this channel keeps growing and brings you a lot of success. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.
Black and blue is a great idea, the car was originally blue so that would be bringing it back to it's roots a bit! Thank you so much for watching, and ya we can't believe the channel has grown the way it has. So grateful for everyone that watches. Hard to stay consistent sometimes when we are also have to go to work, but we will keep making them as often as we can!
Just a little help I invested into a flange tool that way you still overlap for welding but slot less filler to hide the overlap love the flange tool I hope that helps
Oh awesome! Thanks for the tip! That is a pretty cool tool, like you said, wouldn't need as much filler
Ready to see more charger videos for sure great job
Yes we are overdue for a charger video. We'll try and get one out soon!
Burnt orange. Saw that on a 78 che y truck. It looked great
We do like orange, there are like 4 vehion the property that are orange haha!
I know the pain, MOPAR TAX is a killer for Dodge Chrysler Plymouth parts. I can't blame you for installing the cheaper 68 Charger rear quarters if the price was right. Cutting out the rectangular shape is easy done for the marker lights. Homemade body panels are always a good option and no one would really know the difference. The roof can be smoothed out more as mentioned. Seal it up nicely and put a vinyl top over it. The HEMI will be right for it, good find. For the body colour I'd go either Bright Blue Poly, Charger Red or Hemi Orange, they'll accentuate the body lines nicely. (Good Work on The Build So Far)
Hope to see you at some local shows.
Thanks for the comments, it would definitely be great to see you at some shows. We are planning on being at Autofest this August for sure!
A lot of work - and yeah - I see what you mean about the fitment but for 1100k I would do what you did - Rockers so good - project car - thx for sharing - and nice to see you have a shop to do this in - nice metal work really - I wish I was 1/4 as talented as this -
Thank you very much! Ya its hard to work on these cars on a budget, but getting creative and figuring it out is half the fun!
Great video! I can’t wait to see follow up videos.
Thanks! We are always trying to make time for it. Hopefully a new video on it soon!
Excellent work both of you
Thank you very much! And for the comment about the color too!
No classic engine ! 440 or 383, it's charger, iconic car !
Hello from France 🇫🇷 !
I think if you have to funds - and newer hemi and 6 speed trans - but hey - that is a big bucket list - 440 if you can get one that can be fixed up. cheaper - and street gear the diff.
Great video!! Ignore any negative comments always!!! I look forward to see all the videos, keep them up!!
Hey, thank you! Well will keep them coming! And thanks for the color comment too
Majestic orange
Like the general - was that Majestic?? - The chargers also came in the blue with the black vinyl tops - vinyl tops are rust traps - I like this without the vinyl top -
Great video! I like these cars and hope to have one some day.
Thank you! And ya they are very cool, but getting hard to find one at a reasonable price
Dang no dust mask when sanding
I’d probably go with the og blue. But it looks slick in black maybe a 440 big block or modern hemi drivetrain with a manual.
The question I have is why did you not finish the weld job on the top of each panel you replaced. Additionally why the overlap and not butt jointed?
Another great video !!
Another thank you so much!!!
Glad it's getting a Hemi, it deserves one. As for the color; I think it would look great green (I think that was a factory option), with a white vinyl top.
Ya the hemi will be a nice powerplant! And the green is a great idea!
Great job guys ❤ the videos !
Thank you very much!
that dodge lime green 💚💚💚
Wasn't even thinking of that, but yes that would look amazing! With the black rt stripe!
More like a olive or army green
@@AcePH777 I vote for the OEM dark green for that year Charger.
Nice job and descriptive voice over.
Loving the progress. This is my new favorite channel. Great job. Learning a lot from watching. Thanks. Keep it up. Btw, I'm always partial to black. Be well.
Thank you very much!! And ya these things look great in black!
Amazing work. Looking good. And great video work. I hope you guys keep going strong. Are either of you in the auto body trade and or video production. And I had not heard of the man from Toronto.
Thank you! We are trying to stay consistent and plan on keeping going. We'd like to grow enough so that the channel can at least pay for itself so we can justify it to our better halves haha. Cam is a brick layer by trade, and does cars on his spare time. I'm (Tim) a videographer and also enjoy working on cars, but I don't bring my best video equipment to the garage haha.
You guys are doing a great job on the car. What are you going to do with it when it is done?
Medium Blue Iridescent (A-2052, E2051) with white trim gets my vote :P
Nice work!
I know its the hardest so make it black. Glossy or matte would be sick
These do look really good in black. It's going to be a hard decision
Man, she is gonna be fucking GORGEOUS when she's done!
Thank you! That's the plan! We would like to have the car at least drivable and able to take it to Autofest this summer, even if it's not done
Great work!!!
Thank you!
Doesn't matter what colour, just as long as I get to ride in it!! 😉
You can ride it in, you can even drive it!
Pleas just sweep the garage once 😂
Haha it gets dirty so fast.. Sweeping more often wouldn't be awful I guess haha
Black all day second option gun metal 3rd option orange or red darker silver as well be nice
Can't go wrong with black, but every other option you mentioned also sound good. That's the thing I guess, these cars look good in so many colors
@RustedRides that's very true just one color that I will immediately unsubscibe and that's yellow lol but seriously no yellow 😅 love the channel brother
Maybe plum crazy purple and a black stripe around the ass end and put the RT in the stripe?💯👍
That whole description does sound amazing! These look crazy in purple!
I always love red and black ❤ video
Red or black? Or red and black together? And thanks for the tip on the flange tool
Colour: anything but black. My choice would be EV2 Hemi orange or B5 blue.
We love orange! But we do already have 4 orange cars in our yard haha
Hot Rod Black!!
Paint it "GoMango" orange!!
That is a sick color!
I would suggest that it's a movie car, maybe you can replicate the movie car 100%
That would be really cool. The car looked amazing in the movie, and there is a youtube short of a 69 charger in black that looks unreal!
Most aftermarket body panels need work before you put them on
Ya definitely right. I know the more you spend the better they get, but they are never perfect right out of the box... We'll keep hoping every time though haha
Are you going to close the weld
Get monza stuff fit right in same bay
Candy red or candy orange
Candy Red Mmm, cars look good in red! The orange would be cool too, but we have too many orange cars around here already haha
I like the DIY rocker panels. Why spend money?
Exactly! Crazy money for anything to do with these cars
That might actually be the WORST charger on the internet 💀💀💀
hahaha its quite possible! Haven't seen anyone attempt to rebuild one that is worse...Seen worse, but they have been parts cars
What is this car going to be. I see the trunk pan is just a flat piece of sheetmetal? I take it car is just going to be a driver which is A ok in my book… for a Candian car lol🍁
Ya, would love it to be a driver that is fun to drive and take to the odd car show!
You should find a 1990 miata to repair
Would love to make a miata track car!
I think Sublime would be a good color......something different.
Candy apple 🍎
thats two votes for candy apple red so far!
Hi cam, plum crazy purple, ask your dad about this, cheers
Since it was "used" for the movie the man from Toronto, it would be nice if the car could look like the car in the movie, instead of just being another "randome" looking Charger.
Dust Mask.
Do it black
Thats not the worst charger I've ever seen 😂
