Tips and tricks to speed up your shading!
will it works if convert to game? like unity or unreal?
@@nartz5361 sadly procedural systems don’t carry over. So I baked down the shader into image textures to export, which I covered at the end of the video.
Holy crap lois! That car is from the hit videogame i’m working on that may or may not come out
The horse is here
love this!! Can't wait for the aurora shader
really awesome!!
Lowpoly ps1 game but with interactive pixelart texture sound fun, it is possible to recreate some nodes inside godot? Imagine the dirt mask and the lens glare was dynamically animated on game also the 2 channel link on description resulting 404 not found to me... (chrome and firefox)
Would love to see more interactive procedural stuff in games. Also looking into the link issue, strange since it works fine on my side.
Always nice to see other people obsess over procedural workflows too, really fascinating keep it up
🛴
This is why I love the blender community! I'm working on an animation where I need this exact thing and wasn't happy with my hand key framed animation. Was putting off learning geonodes, but then here you go sharing just what I need! Thanks!
Such a joy to hear! My pleasure :)
This is really cool, keep up the good work! (I am definitely not your mom) (The statement in the first bracket is completely true) On a more serious note, I love this an will probably mess around if it when I get a chance.
Fellow rainworld enjoyer! I’m surprised by how many 3D artists like rain world. Thanks for the comment :)
Another way you can do it is by instancing a collection instead of a single object. This way you can individually give textures to the objects. This could help you when you want different variations of the same textures (like the coffee stain you were talking about). I just made a video of an alternitive way to do it. I also included a free link to the blend file in the comments of my video
Just found your channel Love the work you have been doing: ) Looking forward to see you make more awesome procedural materials : )
Awesome, thank you!
I should learn blender
I finally convinced you!
You going to be dangerous once you master geonodes, and I see that happening very fast 😂🔥😭
Love from India 🇮🇳❤❤❤❤
Whats the best way to learn using math jn shaders, im beginner and seeing whst you do is so awe. Im hoping to get to that level.
thanks! For shading, I would definitely start with CGmatter's introduction to shaders playlist, should be able to find that on his channel.
❤

Great deal, thank you so mush for sharing this.
Amazing.
At the end of the video can you do a simple zoom in on all the parts of the node tree.
Do you have a patreon? I would like the file for this, cgboost and apple logo. I can pay with paypal for these files if thats what you would like. I really want to learn your approach to shape/logo making.
Working on it! I plan to release a video announcing my GumRoad profile and how to access my files for free. Thanks for the comment!
@@peppersiegel7636 I look forward to it.
This is not why i clicked on this vide. The title should be "my preferences" or something like that
Thank you, changing this now.
can you make a complex aurora borealis shader? something photorealistic?
Yeah! I would use a fake parallax technique, something I plan to make a video on soon. Really great idea
@@peppersiegel7636 that would be awesome!! Would love to see a procedural setup
Hi dear, I really apreciate your work. I've always wanted to dominate the shading in blender, do you have a vector nodes course or videos about them? The vector nodes are very hard for me😢. I don't understand how works the dot product, cross product, etc. it's so confuse.
Man you are really good mushallah Could you tell us how to improve our skill especially with math nodes and vector
your videos and recommendations is part of what inspired me try shader nodes and that lead to learning super basic math that I'd given up on back in school. Brain isn't geared towards this stuff so although not fluent, I really appreciate the inspiration and breakdowns and making a seemingly complex stuff approachable
Great to hear!
I made the same but in GLSL
Bruh this is pointless. Try making code the automates this. And it will be a quadrillion times more interesting.
This video is for people who know desmos, but want to apply math concepts to other software. (specifically shader nodes) I've got some crazy advanced videos on my channel though, in case you want to see some interesting math.
I’m bad at Desmos, does anybody know how to use the maximum/minimum operation? I want to remove negatives so I can make a square SDF.
dont you litterally go max() or min()
to remove negatives you do max(0, x), since if x is negative it will be clamped
min and max picks the smallest/largest values respectively, so if you wish to remove negatives you can try min(0, x) where x is the variable of what you want, so if it goes below 0 it will be smaller so 0 gets picked instead
bro how did you learn procedural shading?
I watched a bunch of RUclips videos, and practiced for a while. There isn’t any “secret sauce” to learning blender. Just mess around with shading for a couple days, it’s super fun!
@@peppersiegel7636 ok bro
None of those are really "mistakes".... just your personal preferences. -_- "Map Range" doesn't replace "Color ramp" when you have 3+ stops. -_-
Yeah, most of these are personal preferences. But I think some of the tips I show could help a few beginners. I'm pretty bad at youtube, and I'm mostly just experimenting with title /video ideas. I also agree that color ramps are really useful. But in my procedural workflows I almost entirely focus on manipulating values, not colors. And if I ever do need a color ramp, I would use it to change the interpolation of gradiants. Which is far easier to do with the float curves node. My videos are pretty focused on specific parts of procedural shading, and these tips wouldn't apply to general shading.
@@peppersiegel7636 Ya, I really need to learn procedural shading. I'm making 100% procedurally generated 3D models... This it my humanoid made entirely with Geometry nodes... ZERO modeling. ruclips.net/video/XZ171UCxfXA/видео.html You can see the texture is procedural, because it changes as the inputs for the Geo Node changes. I'm almost finished with an import/export from Geo nodes to Unreal's Geometry scripting so that these procedural models can be changed during runtime. Downside is: Unreal's shader works completely differently than blenders. And I have *no* idea WTf I'm even doing. 😅
Great video can U make shaders for Total beginners 👍
I probably won’t make a beginner video any time soon. I would recommend Ryan king and Andrew Price for easy shader tutorials!
Nice! Keep up the great work!
💀💀💀 i dont know it's that hard, i'm a beginner, maybe next video should be Hot Dog with many parts
Hot dogs are high level. Only the elites can master them.
Check out the entire project file in the description, it’s free! What shader concept should I do next?
Thank you so much.
That node setup would melt my computer. Nice
You might be surprised about how optimized nodes can be. I’ve reached past 1.7k nodes on projects like the CGboost logo! I do these project on just an apple laptop, real-time. But yeah, might lag our brains slightly.
that node setup would melt my computer
Very nice!
