The shaded part of the moon is not transparent.Add a Subtract node after the Less Than in the Stars setup. Subtract the lower Less Than in the moon shape node cluster. Then the shaded part of the moon cuts off the stars.
You are correct! for demonstration reasons, I tried to keep this shader pretty simple. I didn't want to overwhelm people with too many nodes. ❤
