So I have quit going to church because I feel like they don’t really accept me for who I am. I was raised by Baptist. Now I question different things about the Bible that doesn’t seem to be true like it was written by multiple people back in the day. I still believe in God, but I have not found any church around my small town that actually approves of gay people. So enough of my problems for today, thank you for doing videos. I was 47 when my wife left me. I suppressed my attraction to men my whole life and decided then to go out and experience it. I also hid my new true self for 3 years before I started coming g out to anyone. I also spent this early period of my life online chatting to many men gay and bi. I communicated with one Married guy online. Also very masculine and definately my fantasy guy but then stopped short of meeting up because I just did not want to be that guy that was involved in him cheating on his wife. Funny thing is probably a year after I stopped the communication I met up on a date with a guy at what I’d call a traditionally straight restaurant and bar and this guy pitched up and met a much younger guy. I then recalled from our conversations that younger guys were his template. Then probably another 5 years later I saw him at a pharmacy and he was chatting to the pharmacist that was telling him to see a doctor because he had clear signs of jaundice. I saw it too. Just yesterday I then saw him at my gym which he must have joined. He was with a young girl who I take to be his daughter. He was looking well. Again as you say so much could have gone wrong there and thankfully my sensible nature guided me.

I don't use apps as they are filled with sex obsessed cheaters in so called fake 'open relationships'. Why don't you look for friends amongst straight people? That way it wont get messy with your relationship. Most of my friends are straight women as they seemed to be much more emotionally evolved than many men.

Grindr can be really strange and even dangerous. Be safe. My first actual meet happened at my apartment, and the guy was only two buildings away from mine. He came over one winter night about five years ago and we had a pleasant and fun hookup. I’m glad nothing bad happened with me though!

There used to be dating apps and hookup apps. Nowadays, all used to be dating apps have become hookup apps. Moreover, people who have no intention to look for relationships or hookups just use these apps to check out guys pictures. Guys who were able to find a relationship, not counting the open relationship, are the lucky few. We always hear a few guys saying they met their partner via Grindr or what not, but we never hear the majority of guys who have not been able to meet anybody.

It's been said that we all have two wolves inside and that the one that we feed is the one that survives. I was in a relationship for 10 years with a man that I loved down to my core. Unfortunately, he had his own emotional issues that continually sabotaged the relationship to the point that I finally decided to end it. That was 20 years ago and was an experience that has left me deeply scarred and utterly distrustful of all gay relationships in general. I tried dating in earnest but I finally gave up as I grew weary of the emotional dysfunction that seems to be so prevalent in gay culture. I've since resigned myself to accepting that being alone is the better option. It seems today that everything is EXCLUSIVELY about sex and physical attraction. And while I readily admit that physical attraction is a key component to the dating scene, it shouldn't be the ONLY aspect that one considers. Furthermore, I think the hookup apps and the prevalence of pornography only add extra baggage to our already-difficult existence. Physical attraction is a part of being human but at what point does this aspect of our human nature become a hinderance or impediment to achieving true happiness? I believe this is the question that is at the heart of your video. I was never one that felt comfortable with using any of the hook up apps and years ago I made a conscious decision to stop watching pornography as well. Speaking for myself, I concluded long ago that certain behaviors are simply not healthy and therefore not good for me. Now I make healthier choices when it comes to the people, places and things I choose to allow into my life.

Well, they are called dating apps for a reason. People are looking for hookups or sex in general. Sometimes relationships. There were some apps out there that were designed for just meeting people for social activities and networking. Not sure they still exist or even got off the ground for that matter. Because people are 90% of the time only looking for sex. Are dating apps ruining the chances to have deep meaningful relationships. I have to say no. If someone wanted to make simply friends with other people, they wouldn’t use or depend on “dating” apps to do it, or even hope to find it there. That would be wishful thinking and never going to happen. ❤

However, picking people off of some "restaurant menu" is pretty creepy to me. Again, not judging. I meet people every week, just networking and saying hello, and no one believes my age (no drinking, no drugs, no smoking etc) 70 is the new 30. Take off the headphones people and meet human beings in real life. The APPS are deadly, lonely people, some with low self image, thinking they will find Mr. Right ....Glad it worked for you, but I just find it too ...weird.

I use the Apps as a reference. Taking note of men profile pictures that I see there. Like I do men at a Beach. I have pretty good gaydar and memory of those that catch my eye. Then I'll check out the Gay Bars wearing my best casual dress and jewelry. Yet with my pheromones below wafting around me. Also casual cruise at a Bath House or Resort. It's all about who catches my eye.....with a definite weakness for Hot Ecuadorian studs.... 🤪

I went down the rabbit hole on Tiktok a few nights ago and I think I found exactly what you're needing. I started seeing a bunch of gay guys who used Tiktok to promote themselves for non-sexual friendships and social circles. The brilliance of it is, since it's accessible to everyone out there, you got options you'd never have on a gay friend app. For example, a straight chick has some gay friends and she thinks you're what they've been wanting for friendship and social stuff, so she shares your video with them. Or a married couple who knows someone who knows someone who is interested in the same things you mention on the Tiktok (collecting antiques, board games, etc.) and forward your video to that person or those people. Generally, I have kind of picked up on the trend of straight people having "token" gay friends. But what is nice about that is, the straight people are also selective in avoiding horndog guys like you see on Grindr who always want to "do it" with a straight guy. So if their gay friends are more trustworthy and in control around straight guys, they are likely more willing to go for friendship and not cross boundaries that you establish. Just my two cents. I just happened to start seeing the videos by chance (nothing is by chance on Tiktok), but I think if you search for "seeking gay friendships" or something like that, I think you'll hit a goldmine. Not always people nearby, but you can, of course, filter for that as well.

We use grindr while we travel to find similar couples for friends. Often we get a lot of just "pics", but we've also made some great friends using it.

It is hard to make friends and connect with others in the gay community. You met others there needs to be honesty up front. There must be change for the relationship. No one should settle for less. I reconnected with my best friend from childhood about 10 years ago. He is married and religious and about a year after we reconnected, He told me that he had always wanted to hook up. We did so for about five years. It was definitely a roller coaster, but at some point, we both decided to put it away and are happy for the experience.
