this was my first live and i enjoyed it! so happy i got paintcrush paints and some brushes so excited !!!! xD
Great livestream as always! Loved the peachy colour palette. Now you’re ready for Daniel Smith’s Coral 😉
😂😂😂 thank you Carole! The coral has lured me in x
I've used Kristy's palette for months and the mixing capabilities are wild! Also, I have the "dive into your joy" empty palette, and it does not have the rose gold trim, it is silver, but my paint palette is rose gold. It doesn't bother me, but I wonder why my particular palette does not have the rose gold trim. 🤷♀
Thanks for watching and sharing! Do you have some mixes you’d recommend? Xx
Have you tried using them on fabric yet? I'm interested to know if they perform better there and if they are permanent or wash out.
Thank you for watching, I haven’t tried them in fabric and probably won’t as don’t do any art on fabric/ prefer painting on paper x
I always pack heavy! I grew up with my parents ALWAYS saying “better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it” and that has shaped the way in which I travel 😂
That looks so beautiful🎉
Thank you so much x
Jackman's watercolors use the letter A to express lightfastness. Is three A's excellent? I'm still new to all the numbers and letters in watercolor. ☺
I assume so, that being said, As is not a standardised way of representing lightfastness so I don’t hold the ratings in the highest regard 😅 if lightfastness is very important to you, I’d recommend testing them out or seeing if there are videos of people who have tested them out e.g. leaving the paints out for a period of time and checking for a difference. Or being led by the pigments as some tend to be lightfast e.g. ultramarine, Earth colours and others tend to fade e.g. some reds / pinks / pastels xx
i love phthalo green and yellow!!! pg7 with py3 it turns into a chartreuse lol
Thanks for sharing! 💚💚💚
It would be nice if they had Art supplies fairs in the US or maybe not..😂
Lool I think there's Sketcher fest and a fe dotted around - they are just hard to find lol x
Right in the middle of watching so apologies if you do swatch the Jackman crystalline watercolours later or you know already; but be careful with what you're wearing when using them! I can be a messy painter, but i always have to be extra careful with what I'm wearing especially with them. I have nothing like them at all. The pigments are just so light though, that I have one old shirt that still has a rainbow speckled across part of it. Very fun, but definitely not one I'll use when wearing nice clothes.
Thank you so much for the heads up Ashley x
@@SketchesnScrubs No problem! I got to that part of the video last night and you looked to have no issues that way. I think that just says more about how messy I can be painting lol Definitely keep an eye out for stray pigment specks on the desk after use though. I try to give my drawing board or surface a wipe down after. If they've been wet and dried down, I don't have issues with colour transfer. But if a stray dry pigment speck remains and gets on a new page, I can end up with colour transfer.
Thank you Sketches! I love DS Green gold WC! My work is often sooo dark and heavy and I find it helps me lighten my greenery up a bit. I love DS & Michael Harding together with a few Holbeins mainly. I have tiny set of gouache but dont' really know where to start with it!
wow you've got so many beautiful colours!! 🥰
Thank you! I really like them too x 🤗
Hi good to see you. I keep meaning to try Jackmans, they have some super granulation sets which look interesting. Michelle Weber another artist RUclipsr uses Jackmans a lot.
I store all my half pans in a qor tin,,, a lot fit if you put them sideways….also, my tubes are in brand tubs. And then I have in use palettes with full pans by brand. Also, a handmade palette with half pans…I have too much paint, but I love it so much!
I have wanted a Portable Painter since I first saw Denise Soden review it in 2017. I don't travel much, and I'm not a plein air painter, so I could never justify it. I recently got a new job that comes with a one hiyr lunch break. I thought I'd maybe try doing some art in my car on my break to decompress. Have I been looking for a reason yo buy this for seven whole years? Absolutely. Anyway, I watched your video while I was waiting for mine to arrive, and now I'm subbed and watching your live streams as I paint! Sorry for the ramble. Not sure if you'll see this on an old video, but comments always help the algorithm!
Interesting new brand! Lots of pretty greens, very tempting!
Indeed! x
I also have my Daniel Smith Gouache in a stay wet palette in that size. Save space for Buff Titanium, White, Black, and Iridescent Aztec Gold! Will subscribe to the Jackman's newsletter. ;) New Gamboge watercolor makes great greens too! PY129 in Daniel Smith is called Rich Green Gold! :). I have both and I like the mix Green Gold for spring greens. First professional Sap Green was also Daniel Smith. I store all my tubes together by brand in labeled clear plastic boxes from Daiso.
Hi, I'm in the US. Where did you purchase these? I am looking on Jackson's but I am not seeing them and we don't have them in the US yet. Thanks for sharing!❤
Art & Stationery in Japan x
You predicted the loss of the clip! 😅 I just thought that the cups being wet is annoying for storage… but that you could end up with dirty paint water all over the palette! Eeks! Nope, I would absolutely hate that ><
Team Replay here: So many questions in the livestream to answer 😅. I love the dot cards. I never want to touch them, so they stay the way I got them 🙂. But I only would use them to see, what the color is like and if I want to get it. Since I'm not able to get only a few colors of one brand I have big sketckbooks and I swatch all paints of the same sort (Gouache, Watercolor, Acryl, Colored Pencil) in one Sketchbook, sorted by brands. For example Schmincke has 48 Gouache Horadam Colors. So I save a double page for all colours they have and I swatch the ones I have. So I always know, which ones I have and which ones are still missing. Time to time I buy another one, go back to the page and continue the swatch. If I run out of a colour I put it on my rebuy list. With colored pencils I was not able to decide which way to sort. So I have a full set of all brands sorted by colour and I have a second set of every brand. Weird.🙂 🙂 🙂 Tried to listen to the livestream and making the laundry at the same time, but I always had do run to my notebook to see, what colour you were talking about .... 😅😅😅 Loved the stream.
Hi, I to am finding them „peculiar“ to work with, also watched this video to get help! My 1st trial using only primary colours went very well then downhill. I was attracted to them due to vibrancy but find them now disappointing. Thanks for your opinions.
hi dear.. beautiful video. I was thinking: By using the Nano setchel.. Cannot you put the longer brushes perpendicolar to the sewn straps, thanks to some velcro additional elastic tabs?
