I got so excited as soon as I saw you use that Cobalt Turquoise. I picked up several different Rosa Gallery sets on Black Friday and just now got around to swatching the first one, the Modern set. Kimberly Crick has a video where she mixes Viridian Green PG 18, with Quinacridone Magenta PR 122 to get a crazy dusky purple that granulats. So... the first thing I did was try it out with the Cobalt Turquoise in this set! It is a Wild duochrome purple 💜 Then I tried the Magenta Rose PR 122, with the 'Turquoise' PG 15:3, PG 7, as the color is closer to Veridian and it makes a wonderful purple 💜. After that I tried a tip I got from Diane Antone about mixing Black and Lemon Yellow to get Green using the 'Neutral' Black in this set. It's a really lovely darker green that has a glow. 😊 I first tried it with both the 'Black' and the 'Flagstone' from my Doodle Hog watercolor set (probably Superior paints) and the 'true black' worked well with all of the yellow colors... lemon, cadmium deep, new gamboge and even the
Yellow Ocher. TBF, none of the paints in the set have any pigment information... but it does have two blacks, a granulating black and a fine black called Flagstone. I had a harder time getting good greens with the Rosa galleries cadmium yellows and yellow ocher... but I'm sure some of that was user error as I was trying to mix on the paper to get effects. Anyway, happy mixing, I hope you enjoy these little recipes. Cheers ❤

Dang gurl!!! Not only did you swatch your colors, you put extra TLC into coming up with different leaf patterns for every one of those colors! I'd just take the lazy artist way out and duplicate the same pattern to swatch 😂!!! That's what makes you remarkable!!! I think it's my OCD, repeating the pattern, making everything matchy-matchy. I must be a country rabbit!!! Did you get the reference? Any who, that sheet rocks! I think I love it better than a repeated pattern. Just as every color is its own, why shouldn't it have a different pattern!? I love that!!! I think it goes back to my high school days... Anytime I had different color markers or pens, I'd have to test it out by writing the same phrase in Thai... I don't remember the phrase I chose... But I just remember writing the same thing over and over in each of the different colors! I never thought it was OCD at the time! My cousin would tell me my organization skills were very AR. I just thought I was being Type A. I guess we now know why it's called Type A... For Type AR!!!😂. Just kidding😂. Well friend, I hope you have a blessed weekend!

My favorite convenience colors are different browns, grays, and greens. I know how to mix my own, but I don't always want to spend time doing it. I highly HIGHLY recommend everyone try a limited palette as a way to learn what one's colors can make. I have loads of fun experimenting whenever I get a new color. I mix it with my other colors to see what I can get. Also, I recommend trying out different textures with a new color to see what happens, for example, if I put salt on top. 😍

Fantastic video, I love the way you do your swatching and study of how the pigments work! I don't have a go to convenience color. So that I would learn how to mix my own colors, I didn't buy any greens or oranges in my Roman Szmal pallette. I am really having fun coming up with different greens to use! I love the idea of mixing some favorite tube colors and make my own colors, that sounds like fun too! 🖌️🎨

Currently I have five palettes on rotation. They have some overlapping colors but they have unique colors too. I can’t think of a convenience color I must have in each palette! One convenience color I use is A. Gallo olive green deep (PB29, PY154, PY110) it granulates and makes wonderful backgrounds with little effort. Fun video, thank you!

I have every single pigment Rosa’s galleries, I just added a few of their convenience colors and 2 White knights single pigments that Rosa’s didn’t have. I have other palettes that are either other brands or handmade paints I either bought or mulled myself…but I keep returning to Rosa’s. In fact my bestie just texted me a little while ago, cussing me out because she just bought some more for herself. 😂 She’s a retired art professor, but never did much watercolor until, first, I “dragged her into” Chinese Traditional Painting…then we began playing with mixing the mediums both in materials and techniques..now her studio is full of eastern AND western watercolor supplies. 🥰. But she was just blown away about the quality + price of Rosa’s.
I find with my single pigments-I can get any color I need by mixing-and, maybe it’s just me, but they seem more vibrant than their convenience mixes (their turquoise being the best example-I LOVE the range of turquoise-teal I can get with those 2!)

A convenience mix I don't have yet, but I really want in my pallet is a turquoise that almost looks as bright as the Minki color in the palette you just showed us ... I have the Cotman Turquoise, but it's too much on the dark blue side for my likes. I like mine to be on the brighter green side. I'm also loving Opera Rose/Pink... Otherwise, I'm just pretty much happy with my basic 38 set... I haven't needed any florescent colors yet... That would probably be the other convenience mixes I'd want... And stronger glitzy metallics... If I could get a chrome in watercolor... But no one's touching that one!!!😂. That's about it!!!

My issue with Rosa Gallery is that the pigment numbers on their website and even on the in store display didn't match up with what was on the pan label once I opened it at home. It put me off buying any more paints from them because it meant that I would have to check every pan individually for the pigment number.
