That's an interesting approach, thank you for sharing. Though I think I'll probably stick with them how they are now. I've thought on it a lot. Even though I'm trying to conjure the ideas of the book, I feel it's ok to have my own spin on it. In the early period of the channel growing, it weighed more heavily on me because the viewers didn't know the scope of ideas I had for the series, and they leant heavily on the book inaccuracies. But over time, it's started to become it's own thing, and so I'm embracing the differences at this point. Also, the way I envisaged the interior of the tripod, it requires the long internal space to create and focus the plasma beam. The arm tentacle thing could look a little bit hokey/comical too. But I do appreciate your thoughts, and if I were to change it, I think your route is probably the most ideal for sure. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! :)

That's an interesting reference! I just tried to search for the picture you must have seen, but nothing came up unfortunately. I'd be most interested to see it. I'm really glad you're enjoying the series, it's certainly born of love. I've been into The War of the World since I was a kid too. My introduction was the 1953 film, which has a special place in my heart, but also the Jeff Wayne musical. So, getting a chance to explore it myself all these years later is real joy. I have to say that the support from everyone watching is also wonderful, and makes it very worthwhile, and I'm thankful to everyone who comments and takes the time to watch. War of the Worlds fans would seem to be a very special breed. It's been a real joy to meet so many fans of the book(s), the films, the radio plays, and I guess this series too. I feel a little like a custodian. So thank you for the lovely comment and thoughts. And great to hear such an interesting and obscure reference too. I hope I manage to happen upon it one day!

Yes, and although they are slightly out of their time (a couple of years too early, which is a long story as to why), they are lovely planes, and I'm really glad they're in there. I was pleased how this one turned out, and glad you've enjoyed it too!

Thanks Cornious, I like that included the 70s, as that was a great era for films and the existential dread of such scenarios. I think we kind of lost that grit at some point. So that's a great compliment, thank you sincerely. Really glad you're enjoying it so far!

@@CorniousMouse I'll let you in on a little secret, the sounds it makes are frogs screaming (look it up on youtube if you've never seen/heard it lol). It's very slowed down, but it was a suggestion by my better half. I was shocked when it worked out. I know what you mean about Kaiju :) p.s. I did just catch your question re: Ray Harryhausen, but I guess you might have seen me answer that elsewhere. But in a nutshell, no, mine was inspired by the book description. I think Ray must have been too. I only saw Ray's version a few weeks back, and was very pleased we had similar visions. Ray is a legend!. I think if I'd seen his version, it might have made me change course due to the similarity, but I'm glad I didn't now. It's a nice to have connected to another version of WOTWs... even if it didn't get made.

Hehe. Too low on resources for that I guess. But an embarrassment for the Tripod pilot, who will undoubtedly over compensate in the future.

That's exactly what the Martian was conveying :) Interrupting his naughty secret meal! As for the Harryhausen design, I only happened upon that a few weeks ago, so it was crazy seeing how similar we'd conceptualised it! I have to assume we both had a similar idea in our head from the book's description. I love Ray's work, and it inspired me as a kid, so to see that made me really happy. Glad you enjoyed the chase sequence, that took so much work. The streets are historically accurate too (within reason), which is why it was such a time eater. So I'm very pleased it was enjoyed, thank you!

That's a really interesting question (putting aside the fact it'd be hand to tentacle lol). The Martians are dealing with heavier gravity than they are used to, so they potentially have a certain handicap. However, there is an aspect to this which I will endeavour to find a way to explore, and that will have an effect on this question and answer. I'd say, humans would certainly have a chance. "If it bleeds, we can kill it". But then, if you look at man, compared to chimps, we are very strangely weak (compared to most animals), even our strongest. Chimps really could rip a man's arms off, and we couldn't fight them hand to hand, maybe with a weapon we'd win. Maybe. We don't know too much about the Martians yet, so I will leave this one open for now. One thing I will say, is that the book interpretation might imply that they'd be useless in hand to hand, but I've taken a rather more physically capable route. An interesting question, which I am sure will be rattling through my brain for a while. Oh and thank you! I really appreciate it :) And really glad you've enjoyed it so far!
