LEAVE US A TIP!
dashboard.stripe.com/payment-links/plink_1Mj7t4AbEw54VdCq1oO4sqKk
I go over a fishing kayak that has been out for years but nobody is talking about. The 2024 Coosa FD from Jackson Kayak. I go over all the features on the Coosa FD as well as discuss its limitations. I also will go over if it's still as good of a value in 2024 within Jackson Kayaks lineup and in the overall fishing kayak industry.

Biggest issue for me is steering on the Jackson FDs. The need for constant steering adjustments keeps me from buying one. They need to improve the steering controls and components. The upgrades they came out with help but did not eliminate the issue.

This has to be the top non-biased vid in quite some time, As an angler who at the time was Ocean Kayak Pro-Staff who qualified Hobie Fishing Worlds 3 in Victoria, Australia, from the first moment I entered a PA14, I was sold. Reasons being, primarily I have a bad spine. The use of the largest muscle group in the body with zero impact on my back was worth more than I could type. However in that same thought, weight and cost was always an issue for me, considering both Ocean Kayak and Viking Kayaks are (or were) made right here in New Zealand. For me, the Outback filled the weight vs capability in my case gap. Now I'm a salty yakker.. and the Outback is my staple. It WAS the Adventure16 aka centre portion of the AI, which I still think was a mistake to discontinue. Next best bet for me heading out wide in the salt and at speed, the Outback. Quality, zero issues. Capability in big water, zero issues. However, water tightness in big water, always carries a few litres more by end of day. Now that's not a massive issue, but wiith big fish coming home and the added water, it soon adds up. In short, I would take a Hobie in any form over any paddle yak.. if only because that's what suits and assist my failing frame. With the likes of Steve Fields at the helm of tournaments.. open and receptive to honest feedback, which is 100% fed back to Development, I have zero concern around the future of the legendary brand. A title they have earned, not 'gotten'. Yes there have been some issues since the sale, but with any new group taking over, that is always going to happen. This is a given. So for my final $0.02, as someone who was OK Pro-Staff when first encountering Hobie.. qualifying and competed at 4x Worlds and supposed to be in Canada as I type, but couldn't due to financial/personal issues, I will NEVER look back.. fact is fact. Hobie have earned their rep and I without any doubt, cannot see any concern for that not to be the case going forward. Lastly.. love your vid. Honest, non-biased and just factual. We need far more independent and honest commentary in this industry. All the best, James Darke

I didn't realize the shop was Arkansas. I did a week long road trip around Arkansas from Ohio. ( about 3hr drive south of Daren Wendell). I went right past the shop couple years ago. Hobie abandoned Brazil, disqualified the local dieler, made commitments to customers and did not fulfill them, forcing customers to take Hobie to court. I've had both styles and I like the both. If you saltwater, Hobie can't be beat... that is truly their domain. However, when it comes to lakes/rivers, I actually like the prop drives better. When you have a crosswind at the back, you can backpedal and skate along the shoreline easier while fishing. Same for fishing the flats. I just think the pedal drives are more convenient. And don't let the comment about there being more effort in the prop drives. I've never had any issue with either system as far as travel and I've been in some horrendous head winds (I live along the coast).
