Good day Andy. One thing that you can address: What a new kayaker can ask an expert. A couple weeks ago, I contacted you after running across your youtube vids, after months, and I mean months, of investigating. Fortunately, I was able to answer a lot of questions you needed to know before answering my questions. 1) I have never sat on kayak before. 2) I know only enough about kayaks to make a bad decision. 3) I wanted some expert advice. So, when I called you, I had some answers, e.g., what bodies of water I wanted to kayak on, what kind of kayaking I want to do, what my expertise level is (none), etc. Maybe do a vid on what questions you need to know to give the best advice. BTW, I purchased a NuCanoe Flint today based on your input (though you gave me other options), based on what you answered for me. Thanks a bunch, and I will show up on my bike sometime. Mike
I love my 2018 Coosa FD. I have upgraded to the new drive, new rudder, and the new seat. I'll be hanging on to this thing until it won't float anymore.
Biggest issue for me is steering on the Jackson FDs. The need for constant steering adjustments keeps me from buying one. They need to improve the steering controls and components. The upgrades they came out with help but did not eliminate the issue.
It's a nice boat but the price and weight that's concerning. I still rooftop my budget kayak at 57lbs and I'm about to purchase a Native Slayer propel 10 at 62lbs. I didn't realize the shop was Arkansas. I did a week long road trip around Arkansas from Ohio. ( about 3hr drive south of Daren Wendell). I went right past the shop couple years ago. I stopped by Lake Leatherwood to check it out. I wish I had a kayak with me that day. Arkansas is a beautiful state. It's the West Virginia west of the Mississippi 😆
The price is worth it, the flex drive is very fast really makes using the kayak in shallow waters easy, I have the Knarr and it cruises. As for car topping I think rhino rack makes a product called the nautic which is a loader system that would make loading the choosa very easy
@thebeardedpaddler Aww, I will after I get some spring water and some catfish from BUBBA's Catfish-2-Go food trailer in Hot Springs! We might have good walleye and perch up here in Northern Ohio ,but you all have the killer catfish! Damm
@@unclestumpy2429 no, but it's a 2022. That thing has been sitting around for a bit. I would just make sure that you are getting everything you think you are.
I noticed you didnt speak of the warranty or much about the company. I've heard really good things about Old Town and a couple of other manufacturers but I've haven't heard much about Jackson. Like ypu stated at the beginning of the video that the company and this model kayak isn't talked about much compared to others. With a price that seems really high for a pdl kayak, the warranty really would need to be a priority.
I've talked about Jackson's warranty and service in some other videos. I stand behind the statement that they are one of the best companies to deal with for parts and warranty. I have 0 issues with Jackson in that aspect. Thank you for watching!
@thebeardedpaddler thank you for the response. I will subscribe as I am curious these vessels are not spoken of. Price is still a lot more than others of same. I will be looking into the company and the drive. Thank you for your video.
Close. They are different hull designs. The Outback has more of a flat hull design. I would give the edge to the Outback by a little bit. Also the fin drive is going to be faster and more efficient
Coosa FD is one of those kayaks you have to jump in and pedal to appreciate.
What do you all think?
If it's anything like the Knarr it's a great kayak, that flex drive is top notch

Great video. Appreciate your knowledge.
Thanks for watching!

Awesome. That Mark IV is legit
What rudder did you upgrade to?
i spent 5 days in Panama in the Pacific in one. the stuff that boat went through was AMAZING!!!!
Nice! Thank you for your feedback. I've been in this kayak but I know you have been in it a lot more
I love my Coosa FD and yes it is heavy. Railblaza StarPort HD Base mount fits perfectly in those four holes if you don’t want to use Scotty mount
Thank you for the feedback!
A great video showing features and good thoughts on limitations 👊😎
Thank you!
Sold

I agree. Jackson's issues are all fixable. They need to be fixed though

Stop by next time to look around
Thanks for the feedback

I just saw a place near me that is supposed to have a couple of the 2022 Coosa HD's for 1K. If it's there, it's coming home with me tomorrow
I would be careful with that.
@@thebeardedpaddler how so?
@@unclestumpy2429 warranty coverage, why it's so cheap, etc
@@thebeardedpaddler is that because it's no longer being made?

oh i like this one! but i really dont need any more yaks lol
I think I would buy a Native Titan X 12.5 for the same money. More options to rig than the Jackson.
There is value in both. The Titan X is next level value

Is the coosa fd as or more stable than a Hobie outback?
Close. They are different hull designs. The Outback has more of a flat hull design. I would give the edge to the Outback by a little bit. Also the fin drive is going to be faster and more efficient
What would be better for fishing around a lot of structure? The FD drive or the new break away hobie fin drive?
I'm poor AF so I'm looking at the NuCanoe unlimited.
There is NOTHING wrong with the Unlimited lol
