  • Many of us see hybrid kayaks as something neat but then we pass them by and forget about them almost immediately. Im here to tell you why you should consider a hybrid kayak and why. Whether you are needing a fishing kayak or a recreational kayak, hybrids have been used for many years and are making a huge comeback. #kayak #fishing #floating #river #explore #nature

    Thanks for covering these...I have both a kayak and 2 canoe...I have retrofitted the canoes to use my framed kayak seat...each boat is for different types of water or paddling condition...but the framed seat makes all the difference in comfort.

      @thebeardedpaddler  5 месяцев назад

      It does. Kayaks without frame seats will be obsolete in a few years

    I was gonna be upset if the Tripper or Kilroy weren’t mentioned. OG Kilroy is a great boat!

      I love the OG Kilroy and have used it on Arkansas rivers for 10 years, but I wish Native would bring back the Ultimate 13.5 pedal drive.

    The greatest was the Wilderness Systems Commander 140. I caught so many fish in that thing. I've owned 50 different kayaks and it was my favorite. Wish they still made it.

    you should have seen me in some rough class 1/2 water in my Tripper on monday. i got dumped 2 times and had to stop 6 times to dump the water out of the yak. that was all in the first 4 miles. lol

      Really? I've never come close on that yak. It's been amazing

    I bought the Ultimate FX 15 (it’s tandem version) in 2022. 80% of the time I use it solo. I love the versatility, seating, comfort, space, stability to include stand-up fishing. I recently purchased the rails which give me more options for mounting my fishfinder, paddle holder, etc. it’s longer and heavier than the FX 12, but it fits in my short bed tundra with a extender, ( I started off truck topping it). Cons: if you plan on fishing when it’s raining, I’d imagine it’s not fun to bail the water out. When paddling, on occasion, the boat will stop tracking straight and I have to compensate with paddle. It would be nice to have a rudder. The pros outweigh cons, it’s a great boat and highly recommend if you’re using in a similar fashion. Knock on wood, I haven’t come close to tipping it over yet. I’m 5‘7“ about 190 pounds.

    I bought the native ultimate FX13 Propel brand new years ago. I am planning to get a slayer max or P127. I still fish out of it once a week. It has held up great. I have had it on so many lakes and even the marsh in Louisiana. Only bad thing is no scuppers which has gotten me in some situations (all my fault) lol.

    I have an older version native fx 12 and I'll say it point blank I will never go any other direction. I'm 6'2" and 210lbs and I load this thing down with waterfowl hunting gear the works and it takes it like a champ tracks really nice and easy to carry or drag through cattails. I don't fish large bodies of water much these days but when I do i have an actual boat but thos small bodied lakes and streams this thing absolutely performs ive used it from montana minnesota and all over north dakota and I truly love the hybrid design of the native so much so I'm looking at buying 2 more for my daughters

    I had a Old Town Discovery Solo Sportsman 119. Regret selling it every day. Was perfect for throwing in small waters, hunting out of, it was just a great all around hybrid. Being a solid Old Town fanboy, I have to say that FX12 has my attention!

      I love the anchor trolley on the Native. It sounds weird but its just a nice feature. I wish they came with the gear track kit though

    What you think fx15 for big guys

      @thebeardedpaddler  5 месяцев назад

      It would be fine. I think the Jackson Tripper 12 would be better for a bigger paddler though

    I own two Jackson Kilroys. Wonderful versatile kayaks. Too bad most folks are focused on sit on tops.

    I ended up in an ascend h10.....I like it but I can't wait to get into a sot and sitting more upright. I have mine loaded with a tm so I don't have to do to any long distance paddling... That helps

    What are your thoughts on the Old Town Loon Angler 126?

    • @thebeardedpaddler
      @thebeardedpaddler  5 месяцев назад

      It's good. It's more of a true sit inside though. Faster paddling obviously.
