We camped in our VW T5 California camper van at a lovely little campsite called Marl Barn, on the edge of Gisburn forest up above the Forest of Bowland, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales national park.
A mooch around the forest with a Thermos flask of soup made for the perfect dog walk and then headed back to the completely empty campsite (which we've never experienced before) for beer, a campfire in the snowpeak fire pit and some grub. We had completely clear skies and with this being a dark sky area, the stars were out in abundance, along with several satellites.
Not a breath of wind, complete silence in this rural setting made for the perfect camping experience.
