Brilliant reviews,…..We carry a frontier stove, ( the cheap tent stove) its excellent for cooking, in terms of a cars iron or dutchy,..a bonus is its a good heat source and the smoke is ten foot above you. Ok, it’s no bush telly unless you leave the door open, but it feels safer too as it’s enclosed and the flue has a decent spark arrester.
I have the Atago, brilliant but of kit. I also use it for Dutch oven cooking, I also have the hot plate which is brilliant for al fresco breakfasts. The other thing I was dubious about is the fireproof 'cloth' oven cover but it’s surprisingly effective. So versatile and a brilliant fire pit - very efficient and probably the only one you can pick up and move it whilst it’s hot of the wind changes direction!
@@Professionalmoochers I looked it up, it’s actually called a convection dome! I bought the atago as a set which included the bag and the dome. Didn’t think I’d ever use the dome but it’s great, can use it as a smoker or to create an oven when using a small Dutch oven on the top grate etc. The hot plate I have is the one with the hole in the middle (to feed fuel) but also doubles up as a great burner to boil water for a brew while frying the bacon for breakfast butties!
Well I’ve got the amazon one and never used it. We mainly stay where you can’t have open fires. I love the look of the snow peak one, I was just looking at it in Keswick just before this video. One question though, which may or may not be stupid……..how does your clothes/down jackets etc fair up when near the fire? I would be worried about the embers. Also, do you use it under the wind out awning or outside of it when sitting underneath?
We’ve started looking specifically for sites which allow fires 😉 If you have properly dried wood, it’ll spit & smoke less, with a lot less embers but, we normally try not to wear a fragile jacket near it. Normally go wool or fleece. Under the awning shade should be fine but, you’d have to use less fuel, keep the heat levels down
Thankfully you have all four of the fire pits that I need. As such, Ruth won't protest too much when I tell her I just want one... The Petromax! Have you gone for the Ooni or the Gozney pizza oven. I'm already sending Ruth pics of the Gozney Dome in green. Yet again, your name will be mentioned in the bargaining process! 😆
Petromax is an excellent choice sir! Don’t forget to include the bag in your sales pitch, maybe a Dutch oven too 😉 I’ve gone for a black Gozney Roccbox, haven’t even opened it yet but I’ve made some dough balls so will be using it for the first time tonight 🤞🏼🧑🍳
I'm going to use the, 'slowly, slowly, catchy monkey' style of persuasion. A few seeds planted over this summer and I may have a gleaming Gosney on my new patio next year! 😆
I wish I could get all excited about sitting oot at a firepit or a bbq like you guys ( or Col over at Yorkshire poptop adventures) but I just sit ootside roon ma Airfryer until the midges start eating us 😂😂😂
Strange, I had been looking at fire pits all day and then up pops your video. The best one I have seen is someone used the drum out of a washing machine. 😂
😄😄 very strange! The washing machine drum is an extremely good option as they’re stainless steel, full of ventilation but, doesn’t pack down so too large for our van 👍🏼
@@Professionalmoochers Put a bin liner in it when not using as a fire pit lol. Have you tried a solo fire pit? Interested to know if they are any good.
The wife just said “why does he need four fire pits” I said because they do different things, a man answer! Less than a minute later you two have the same conversation 😂😂😂
This is a man who has a knife for every need, so of course he’s going to have a fire pit for every eventuality. In fact I’m surprised he doesn’t have a different one for different cuts of meat 🙄 He does make a great blog though.
The snow peak grill is both adjustable and 304 stainless steel. Whoever said it was made of chrome is either a liar or clueless when it comes to the art of metallurgical compounds. 😂😂
It’s the additional grill which goes ontop, which is chrome plated. The reason I didn’t invest the extra on it. The fire pit itself though, is really robust 👌🏼
Thanks Al. I stayed awake until the end, so good job!
😄😄 was it Jack who kept you interested?
Brilliant review, loved your personal assistant 🐶

Fireproof cloth?? I’m going to have to look into that! 😁

And he knows it! 😄
Love the look of that Kadai but can’t really beat the Amazon one for price and store-ability. Always got one in the van don’t even know it’s there.
100%!
It’s impossible to beat as an always there option for an easy fire 👌🏼

I have a Fireside outdoor Trailblazer fire pit , it's great for cooking or just a fire folds down nice n small . :)
Ooooo might have a look at that 😉
We have the amazon one, great for that last little bit of space in the van😅
Couldn’t agree more!
We carried ours on every trip before building a collection of pits 👍🏼
Ive got the amazon one. Its really good but the rate it burns through wood is crazy
Yeh you’re right, so much oxygen getting to the fire, it rips through them as there’s no wind protection

True dat. I have tried burning pine cones too but it’s like the inside of a 200 year old fish smokery covered in tar.
good vid Alan

Mmm, don’t have any fire pits. Food for thought.
Anyway, vans packed for three nights in Aberlour. Leffe, malt shall be drank with a nice steak.
