    Just got my pr5000 and noticed the holes can be off by 1/16 of an inch. Which is problematic if you try to add bumper plates to the sides, they won't align

    @gymreviewer is there a lat pulldown that pairs with GR3 Lite squat rack ? Does the one from rep fitness (4000 series) pair with it ?

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer 4 месяца назад

      Great question! It would make most sense that the Rep Fitness 4000 series would be the closest fit. I would be weary about if center of Reps holes start at the same height from the floor as Griffins - if they do than that is an excellent thing and should lead to a proper fit. That said, I assume they do since the Griffin front foot extension arms work on the Rep Racks. Worst case scenario is you may have a little drilling to do. I would assume the crossmembers and other parts fit correctly since they are both foreign made. Overall a great deal if you can pull it off- Let us know what you end up going with!

    I got the squat stand on closeout from Griffin for a 2nd rack in my garage gym. I missed out on the gr3 lite spotter arms though.

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer 5 месяцев назад

      Great steal on the Griffin Squat Stand!!!!!! If still interested in spotter arms for the Griffin Squat Stand, I would consider looking into the offerings primarily from from Rep Fitness, as they are most similar to Griffin. If unavailable, I would then look to Titan Fitness and Bells of Steel. Just be aware that they may not all fit completely snugly, for example: I have the Griffin GR3 Spotter Arms. They maintain a looser fit on our REP PR-5000 power racks than our REP Spotter Arms. Thanks for watching and enjoy your new rack!

    Don't really have any complaints about my PR5000. It was probably a bit overkill for me and I kind of miss the lightweight and ease of setting up my former big box store squat/bench rack. It's a workout just moving accessories around. Everything is built like a tank and I haven't even had a need to bolt it down. I got the flipdowns, strap safeties, and spotter arms and can't imagine being without any of them.

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer 6 месяцев назад

      Nice! I know what you mean, half of the workout is just setting up the bench and J-Cups 😂 What made you go with both the flip down safeties and the safety straps? Are the the full safeties or the safety spotter arms?

    • @jerseyjim9092
      @jerseyjim9092 6 месяцев назад

      @@gymreviewer mainly for versatility. I thought the full flip downs would be good for rack pulls, a workbench/seat and dipping horns. Turns out I only use it for doing dips. I use the safety straps for virtually all inside rack work. I'm glad I waited for the shorter upgraded straps. The 2 ft spotter arms were for doing work from the front of the rack. I use them most for incline bench which I can't do inside the the rack because it's too one to the wall.

      Lol, agreed but this Lat Tower is actually fairly decent for the price. Probably one of Titan Fitness’s most decent pieces. With that, it’s a tough call… $3k or more is a lot of dough for a home gym owner simply wanting a lat tower/ low row.

  • @timtriolo
    @timtriolo Год назад

    Why did you decide to go with the Rep Fitness Dumbbells over the Titans. They seem to be the same product, and the Titans are less expensive. I had terrible luck with Rep during the pandemic and swore them off (they screwed me over with how they fulfilled orders), but now that I need to buy a full set of dumbbells, I'm forced to take a look at them again. I'm interested to hear your opinions on the two brands.

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer Год назад

      Tim, thank you for the excellent question! In the past, I considered the Titan dumbbells but found them to be more expensive than the Rep ones. This was back when Rep had shipping costs while Titan Fitness had free shipping. Nowadays, both companies offer free shipping (where shipping is included in the cost of the product, so it becomes “free”). With that, please note that product costs constantly change, so it may very well be that Titan is the cheaper option now! With all that considered, I would purchase the complete set that comes out the cheapest, with the least hassle, as the product is essentially the exact same (if not produced in the same factory abroad, but stamped with a different logo). Some food for thought: In the past Titan gave out points based on order size (based on ‘dollars spent’) to incentivize purchases from their site and products (as opposed to Titan products being sold on Amazon, or aftermarket). If currently applicable, I would factor this into the cost of both opportunities, as it could sway you to the side of Titan (incentivizing the purchase of a free or discounted future piece of gym equipment or accessories). Let me know what you go with and why, along with any follow up questions! All the best, GR

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer Год назад

      Hey Branden, thanks for checking in! The Rep Dumbbells are holding up great- only real downside is the amount of space they take up! If the Pepin Dumbbells where designed with an even better weight-change mechanism I would jump on them for a smaller home gym. If space is no factor, I’d go with the Rep Urethane Dumbbells all day 😁

  • @aghoover
    @aghoover Год назад

    Obviously these are 2 different products. But are the cheaper handles really any worse. I don’t expect a 10lb per handle difference is terribly important when loading up 25s. Also, fixed dumbbells don’t have spinning collars, so why should I care if my dumbbell handles do, seems over engineered.

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer Год назад

      The 10lb per handle difference is huge when the cheaper set of dumbbells is made of hollow steel while the other is made of steel throughout. 25lbs sitting over your face on a dumbbell bench press can sure leave a nasty mark 😈

    • @aghoover
      @aghoover Год назад

      @@gymreviewer are you assuming the cheaper dumbbell would fail to hold the plate. Would this be more a collar issue? Or are you suggesting 10lb plates are far better than 25lb plates for pressing movements. I don’t have olympic dumbbells yet, but the primary use for me would be heavy rows.

      Fascinating and excellent point about the sleeve rotation! That makes me think that this is even more so a mutant baby of the Rogue Ohio Bar and Rogue Ohio Power Bar! The diameter feels like 29mm, knurling depth of a standard Ohio Power Bar, seems to be Stainless Steel, thin collars (for more plates on sleeves)… But on the other hand, it has dual Ohio bar markings, no center knurl and very good sleeve spin/ rotation 😈🧪 Loving this. 100% of the safety concerns with the rack tipping over is to use the provided concrete anchors. It’s the first 2 or 3 steps it says to anchor your rack to the floor. Also, commercial gyms should have their equipment anchored to the ground or the platform.

    Hi, thank you for the great comparison. How does the uprights of the REP compare to Rogue's uprights in terms of quality? From the gun industry I found some articles about American steel being 3 times harder than Chinese steel but I am not sure if that really matters with steel tubes for power racks. I am located in Europe and Rogue's pricing over here is ridiculous. The RM4 is around 2200 EUR with shipping and taxes. We do have many import brands like REP as well, i.e. ATX, Bulldog, SQMIZE, Atletica, etc. Is the Rogue USA steel promise mostly marketing or is it really that much better?

    • @gymreviewer
      @gymreviewer Год назад

      Josh, excellent question. In regards to US steel versus Chinese steel the general consensus is that there is a difference in quality (favoring the US side). There is a catch though, the consensus also follows that when we are talking about 3x3 uprights for this style power rack, that the difference is so minuscule you will likely never even notice it. Since money is a factor in yoyr decision, I would go for an ‘imported upright’ as opposed to the Rogue or Sorinex options. The only thing to note is that an American made upright will be slightly larger than an imported upright due to the American Imperial system of measurement as opposed to imported racks using the international Metric system of measurement (when cutting and planning their uprights). Again, since money is a factor your best bet may be to purchase an imported upright/ frame rack along with USA made or higher quality imported attachments. Most of my frustrations with the Rep PR-5000 have come from the attachment side of things. This link to a master list of attachments may come in handy: www.tworepcave.com/3006/power-rack-attachments-compatibility-master-list/amp/ Stay strong, GR

      @@gymreviewer thank you for your reply and sharing your experience. I will order an ATX 840 six post rack that is on sale for 970 EUR. The rogue RM6 costs 3.400 EUR with attachments over here. Even though I am willing to pay more for nicer stuff, the price difference is just too high to justify. And ATX is sponsoring Germany‘s strongest man Dennis Kohlruss. He has some sick squat videos in this rack. Since all manufacturers are using the metric system in Germany, I can get some of the German made premium attachments from Strong Gains. Maybe I will make a review of the rack. Basement Brandon wrote me some years ago that he was trying to get the ATX stuff imported.
