i have one that needs repairs

I just made a video about this thing. I've had this since high-school pretty much. The last people to have it before me, put windows XP on it. I am having issues finding display adapters that would work with XP. Do you recommend downgrading to windows 98 or do you know possibly where i can find some drivers for this thing? lol thanks in advance!

Hi, I read an article about laptops without a fan and it mentions the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 3 doesn't have a fan. And I also asked Lenovo about this same laptop today and they confirmed this same model doesn't have a fan. Could you tell me the difference or if now, in August 2024, this model no longer has a fan. Thanks much!

A late friend of mine bought one from Radio Shack with the new Pentium 200. He paid around 2 grand for it, but it was a sweet machine for it's time.

I use kleenx and q-tips to clean the processor, have for decades, works well.

My mom still have this laptop when I was 6, so my mom let me open it and it's works in good conditon because it runs Windows Vista. Except one of the keys on the keyboard needs the yellowing removed with retrobrighting to make it look like it's original color.

Have an 8000 and I can't do anything with it because it asks me to set time and date or press F1 to load defaults, but it won't work with a usb keyboard because for some reason it doesn't enable the usb keyboard on boot. Need a PS/2 keyboard apparently.

my favorite ever laptop is a lenovo T500 - got my first in 2009 (t9400, 4g, 1680:1050) and been using it until 2022 with 8g and two hdd w7 and ubuntu! tried to go with a t420 but changed again back to another T500 with a t9600 - i just love the 16:10 and the old kb

This video was posted in 2023, and im saying this because fall release of Windows 11 24H2 will strictly require SSE4.2 and POPCNT nowadays, and that laptop's processor is supported by 24H2 and handles it just fine since its a early 7 era hardware where SSE4.2 were already a norm in most Intel based 7 laptops except for Pentium and Celeron versions of it. Just sayin.

i just found an old PC that was going to be at best recycled that somehow has a 2008 single core processor in it .... while i could go different sites to get a better price ... I am considering a processor like this and my first ever attempt at a processor swap. At worst (i hope)_... i pay a little too much for the processor from this video or something like it ... but i get the experience and have a little fun while doing so. I dont expect (hell i have android tv boxes for watching hd YT videos) much ... i put it on the area of my 2003 era Desktop even if the processor swap goes well (performance wise i mean) ... I do some coding and just messing around ... not modern gaming or anything. I tried Lubuntu (lightweight linux) and it wasn't the best on that rig with it's current processor ... Puppy Linux did ok for a number of things... again i know i am likely going to waste $ on this but its the fun and hopefully passible experience i am after. Not sure how but my 2003 rig while slow seems faster than the 2008 rig ... though the 2008 rig (both with 2GB of DDR2) CAN support up to 4GB ... the 2003 desktop i have sitting around IS 2GB max.

Picked one up for $7 at a local thrift store. Came with 2gb ram, locked 500gb hdd and a dead battery. I have an awesome desktop rig already so I want to upgrade this to be my main laptop. Only problem is every time I install drivers for the nvs 140m I get artifacting and half to reinstall windows. I tried 2 different drivers one from nvidia one from the dell website but both give me artifacts, I put new thermal paste on and cleaned the fans, other than this there are no issues. If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. Forgot to mention I put in a 256gb ssd running windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I have two of them. First one was in my family for a long time, and i accidentally broke hinges, so i bought second one. I replaced hinges and screen and some more. Now it has 4GB of ram, 128GB SSD, T7200 CPU, integrated intel GMA, and 1680x1050 screen. I use it as a retro laptop. Unfortunately both 2 batteries are dead.

I brought this over a year ago to just do some basic drawings on, but it's running on windows 10 but says it needs to be activated. I bought it used which is my fault. I've tried everything under the sun and can't even reset the little thing to run smoother. It runs so slow it's not even normal. I tried multiple times to reset and it stops at 6% Everytime. Left it for 3 days!! Still the same. 😭. I feel like the previous owner may have bugged it bad and I have no way of knowing how to undo whatever was done.

I started working at RadioShack in 1998 and I remember this being the flagship model. I think the one we had was 512mhz with a MASSIVE 12 gb hard drive. The nostalgia of seeing that setup again is next level.
