I have been really enjoying messing around with those 90’s IBM laptops. My local electronic waste place has a ton of those laptops for like $5. I’ve been restoring them. I have one on display on my shelf, and I use one, the others just sit in my closet until I figure out what to do with them.
@@retropcdurham it’s not a computer, but my E-waste place takes in anything and tries to keep it from being scrapped, so I have found a Sega sports edition Dreamcast, I’ve found a couple of good computers as well…usually pentium 2-3 and pentium mmx systems. But I mostly find CRT’s they have an overflow since they have to transport them to a different facility in order to dispose of them. I’ve snagged a couple, some had bad picture. So I just took off the housing and made CRT TV helmets.
I have one of these lol, the keyboard is actually really comfortable and it is supprisingly very hardy, Nothing has broken on it. I have had it since 2018 and has gotten all my tasks completed…but managed to run a few games on it without it blowing up (Sims4). It’s starting to be laggy now as I have downloaded a few expansion packs on it…I’m currently looking into upgrading the RAM to an 8gb (as it only has a 4) - total stock laptop has same specs as this one - to increase performance, but now also wondering if I should upgrade SSD as well, this will be my first laptop to upgrade on my own so curious as to how this will go. It’s been a pain trying to find the parts I need but internet has been helpful.

That's great to hear of more e-waste facilities taking action to keep old computers from getting scrapped. Do have a favourite find?

Memory upgrade will help and definitely upgrading to an SSD will improving the performance overall. thanks for sharing!
