What about net player flowing with the ball, if ball bounce wide in Deuce court shouldn't net player move to the left to close the angles. this is not good example and this is just 4.5 level of morning game at a public court-not 4.5 of any USTA sanctioned league or any competitive match

Great tips coach, Never considered how racquet height should be adjusted based on ball receiving. In doubles how close do you recommend the server’s partner stand? Also, I am a 3.5 player that plays often with 4.0’s. Most of of my reaction volleys, are struck off my back heal, where they pop up not even past the service box, where these 4.0 guy’s consistently hit hard, crisp volleys. Not sure if my problem is not hitting center of racket, not timing split step before striking ball, and therefore late, or just being nervous, and not following through? Any suggestions to fix?

I’ve been following these strategies for the past couple months and my buddy now hates me. Our typical set scores used to be 6-4, 7-5, or 6-3 and occasionally I’d lose a set every now and again. Since applying these strategies he’s not won more than 2 games a set and usually 1 of the sets is 6-0. He’s now banning me from using his ball machine! What’s fascinating to me is that I’m not trying to hit winners but I’m hitting more winners than ever and my errors are way down. Tennis is way more fun when you execute your shots and minimize errors! Thanks Coach!

I was fortunate as a kid I loved baseball and tennis. Throwing a baseball definitely helps with a serve. The key is a loose grip and wrist. Serving is a lot like pitching. You need variation, a fast ball, curve, change up, and location. I feel like my second serve racquet snap is even faster than my first serve. Most players patty cake the second serve. Great tips!

Great content and love the drills, will definitely use them because I already incorporate these principles with my students a lot. I do have a question though. The examples on when to poach and ehen to cover the line Gigi gives are on the AD side, and against a right handed player. So indeed an inside ball is on the FH and in that case the line ball is to be expected (with natural direction of the swing), especially a body shot ob the FH. And a ball on the BH gives opportunities to poach. Also because the BH down the line is a hard shot to pull off. But what about on the deuce side against a right handed player. An outside ball is on the FH now. Unless its a really good shot (pace, depth etc) I would hold. An inside ball though is on the BH and because its also from the middle it's reduced angles, so on the contrary of an iside ball on the AD side, I would recommend to poach on an inside ball on the BH on the deuce court. Do you agree?

I also love angling the kick off the court and I'm trying to see if my opponent adjust their return position by moving closer to the baseline, or off the baseline towards the fence, and I'll go slider wide for the next serve if they're closer to the fence and slice body if they're closer to the baseline.

Hi Coach, is there a suit of armor for tennis players? The reason why I asked you this question is I play doubles in a 4.0 / 4.5 league and I have a guy who loves trying to take my head off at the net! I am only 5’7 and thank GOD my hands are very quick. Yesterday I got hit twice by this guy, and I started using your technique and I was started eating this guy up at the next, so I could tell he and his partner were getting mad at me for destroying them at the net! I was having a great day yesterday. His partner is a Asian lady who is a great player and my partner is a very good also, so she started trying to take my head off also, So when I was serving I noticed she couldn’t handle the Kicker out wide to backhand and she started playing like 4 feet from the baseline, after I got tagged by her, I waited for my serve, so I faked her out with a underhand serve and she was pissed and said something under her breath and said too me I wasn’t ready we need to play a let, so my partner said to hit the kicker out wide so he could poach, I winded up like I was going to serve normal and hit another underhanded serve that spun back onto our side after it bounced. After that she started laughing and said I was ready but that was too good! After that I held serve very easily because my partner was killing the volleys, he also watched your videos and I didn’t even know it until he said you ever watched Stokke videos on volleys and I said hell ya I watch my dude Stokke! I had so much fun yesterday and my fat ass almost pulled off a Tweeter but it went long. I also had 3 or 4 chances to hit her and the other guy with overheads, but I hit the ball around them and then after that they stopped trying to hit me with the ball! The reason I shared this story, is I am wondering as you are a Professional, did you ever have a match where your opponent’s were trying to hit you intentionally with the ball? And if so how did you handle it? You seem like a complete gentleman on the court, but I can tell you aren’t anyone to take lightly. So I am interested on how you deal with jerks? I use humor and I try to get them to laugh at me, and I make fun of myself so I can try and keep things civil! Thank you Coach and I really appreciate your videos as I am a disabled man who just started playing tennis again after a 23 year hiatus! Your videos inspire me to work hard, but this diabetes kicks my butt some days.

I've lived in complexes that have courts since 2014. $35 metal pickup bin from Walmart and $10 for 18 practice balls (buy 2 packs) and you're ready to learn how to aim your serve all on your own. If you want to get fancy, get a $12 54-inch tall tripod for your phone, and video your technique. Then watch Stokke videos for tips and you're on your way to serve dominance (at least at your level) LOL!!!
