    Great tips! The forehand volley has always been a struggle. The backhand always seems to be more Intuitive.

    Hi Coach, is there a suit of armor for tennis players? The reason why I asked you this question is I play doubles in a 4.0 / 4.5 league and I have a guy who loves trying to take my head off at the net! I am only 5’7 and thank GOD my hands are very quick. Yesterday I got hit twice by this guy, and I started using your technique and I was started eating this guy up at the next, so I could tell he and his partner were getting mad at me for destroying them at the net! I was having a great day yesterday. His partner is a Asian lady who is a great player and my partner is a very good also, so she started trying to take my head off also, So when I was serving I noticed she couldn’t handle the Kicker out wide to backhand and she started playing like 4 feet from the baseline, after I got tagged by her, I waited for my serve, so I faked her out with a underhand serve and she was pissed and said something under her breath and said too me I wasn’t ready we need to play a let, so my partner said to hit the kicker out wide so he could poach, I winded up like I was going to serve normal and hit another underhanded serve that spun back onto our side after it bounced. After that she started laughing and said I was ready but that was too good! After that I held serve very easily because my partner was killing the volleys, he also watched your videos and I didn’t even know it until he said you ever watched Stokke videos on volleys and I said hell ya I watch my dude Stokke!
    I had so much fun yesterday and my fat ass almost pulled off a Tweeter but it went long. I also had 3 or 4 chances to hit her and the other guy with overheads, but I hit the ball around them and then after that they stopped trying to hit me with the ball!
    The reason I shared this story, is I am wondering as you are a Professional, did you ever have a match where your opponent’s were trying to hit you intentionally with the ball? And if so how did you handle it? You seem like a complete gentleman on the court, but I can tell you aren’t anyone to take lightly. So I am interested on how you deal with jerks? I use humor and I try to get them to laugh at me, and I make fun of myself so I can try and keep things civil! Thank you Coach and I really appreciate your videos as I am a disabled man who just started playing tennis again after a 23 year hiatus! Your videos inspire me to work hard, but this diabetes kicks my butt some days.

      @@Shaunsweeney-Kubach71 yea I’ve had people try to hit me before. I try to get my hands up quickly! And if they’re really good and it’s difficult, my best advice would be to back up to the baseline. At Duke we played 2 back sometimes when necessary! Thank you for following and glad to hear people are seeing my content!

    Similar to the strings snapping back having time to increase spin, off center contact has time to affect spin a bit. It isn’t something one can do on purpose, but it does happen. It doesn’t affect the validity of your advice overall but hitting off center can affect spin.

      Yep, that's true. Wasn't really the point of my video. Was just mentioning that the racket will open on contact from impact and that backspin will come from a slightly open racket face. And obviously, if it's off center impact, the racket will turn in the opposite direction.

    Hi coach, just wondering what grip do you recommend for volleys? Continental or a fast grip change? Just curious, love your videos btw!

  • @andreifeld
    @andreifeld 8 дней назад +1

    Great tips coach! How firm would you recommend to hold the racket? If the racket opens up after the ball hits it suggests that the grip is not too firm

    Nice upload. Btw, what happened to the facial hair? Now for a more serious question: for the past several years I've worn non-polarized sunglasses when playing tennis (especially on bright late afternoons, when the sun gets lower, often shinning right into my eyes when serving and chasing after higher volleys). Recently I realized that, other than Jamie Murray, I can't think of many players (especially higher ranked players) who wear sunglasses during matches. I realize you're doing a demonstration, but please share your thoughts. Thank you...

      Every once in a while I try to shave and be a professional! I'm not sure why more professionals don't use sunglasses on REALLY sunny days. Once I started using them as I was older I don't play without them.

      I don’t play without them; even on cloudy days. Sometimes cloudy days are worse! Squinting for a long period of time gives me a headache!
