I mean… no he was obviously always a huge creep 😂
Oh no, I definitely thought he was a total creep at the time.
I found him creepy even as a teenager
I alwaus knew he was a weirdo, but vanessa was uptigjt. Now im.older and i realoze thr stress and new found world she was experienxing being am expecting mom. It.males sense for her to be unnerved.
I just watched this episode recently. And 100% agree. I never was able to finish watching the series because off awful Rory became. The first few seasons were good. But I couldn’t stand the child worship.
Yeah, you know what else hit different as an adult? Home alone.
No I realized he was a creep as a child too
I watched this when I was right on the edge of being naive enough to fall for his nonsense and realizing how amazing Jennifer Garners character is. I suspected something, but I couldn't figure it out right away. But when she saw Juno at the mall and said it was magical when the baby moved, I was like, "Oh... she's ready to actually care for another human being..." and her husband is just a man child.
Vanessa, guaranteed, had been dealing with responsibility-evasion shenanigans from Mark for long enough to know he was up to no good.
Even watching this as a teen Mark rubbed me the wrong way. Like sir why are you flirting with a teenager?!? I loved Vanessa's character, she was very patient and understanding. I knew shit was weird when he decided to watch movies with an underage girl while his wife was out. If I ever watch the movie again with my sister I'mma point this out to her.
The difference between a fully developed brain and not is pretty stark.
Try watching Swingers in 2024 😂 "You're so money baby" sounds so cheesy
Nah. I was grown when Juno was current. I saw through everything!
Every character in that movie is a loser.
no. you’d have to be pretty emotionally unintelligent to see JB character as anything other than a creepy immature loser. i’m a dude and saw it when i was 13.
Jason Bateman was 38 here. Looks like he’s pushing 50.
Sure you weren't just remembering the first half of the film? Haven't watched it in ages but I recall that's how you're meant to feel at first but then it becomes very apparent Bateman's character is a creep and Vanessa was the good one after all and it's clear you're meant to be happy when Vanessa ends up with the kid. I was like 20yo when i saw it so maybe it was a bit different if you were younger...
I was creeped out by him even when i saw the film for the first time
I feel so sad for Lindsay because she was with Dean and she was happy and relaxed. But then, Rory ends up sleeping with Dean and ruining the marriage. And it seemed like Lindsay was so sweet but the show portrayed her as being dumb at times for wanting a more traditional lifestyle. I feel like "A year in the Life" really highlighted the downfalls Rory had. Very interesting and enjoyable video! Keep up the awesome work
I’ll always remember how Rory wrote about that ballerina at the school paper. Rory commented on her body and the way she danced in such a horrible way and everyone around her supported it. It really showed me how other people view Rory to such a high standard and excuse her judgemental /mean behaviour, allowing her to never really take accountability
I never liked him. He wants to be a Rockstar and to never grow up.
chill yall its a serie not a real life okayyyyyy xx
You’re a creep.
not really related but sabrina using this for her song is kinda tasteless... like i know its a cute-ish, coming of age movie but it *is* about teenage pregnancy after all and you, an adult woman, turn it into a song about how horny you are 😭
Hell yeah I feel the same way
How old were you when this came out, 10? How could you not realize this was creepy…
I saw the same when I was younger.
Not me! I saw it as a teen and immediately recognized him as a creepy pedo and thought Garners character was sweet and a good adult
At no point did I ever think he was cool after watching the movie just because I was a teen…it was clear he was a perv lol
I knew something was weird when I was a teenager but didn’t quite get it. I just thought “wow he needs to grow up if he wants to be a responsible parent!” . Looking at it now as an adult, he’s a loser. It’s ok to have niche interests and have fun, but if your way of shirking responsibility is hanging out with teenagers, you’re not wrong. I love that Vanessa is willing to confront her husband. She knows Juno is still a kid so if her husband is downplaying Juno’s emotions, something probably happened
I didn't like her at first but there is something off about him too. However, as the story goes on I started liking her much more and hating him. He was disgusting
Ah I loved Ellen Page (or is it spelled Paige?) in An American Crime and Juno! Wonderful performances ❤
As a teenager I did feel suuuuper uncomfortable with Mark the minute he started dabcing with Juno. Dunno why so many other teens thought he was cool, it really creeped me out
Omg, it alarms me how we all loved Juno’s quirky sass and couldn’t see that Mark was a borderline p-three-d-o. It’s a good parallel to the way Juno thinks she’s cool enough to hang with adults, but has no idea how naive she actually is.
when i was younger i didnt understand that brother sister thing :OOOO
Vanessa is an uptight beeoch
I love that she immediately believed that she was crying for good reason and didnt accept his obvious lie. And just because a person is hormonal doesnt mean that their feelings are invalid
Do all vegas homes not have basements?
Always thought he was a creep, but additionally have gained more respect for Garner’s character.
I don't remember my first reaction when I watched Juno for the first time, but as an adult, he is a creepy loser.
I didn't know he was bisexual at the time.
I keep telling everyone Gilmore girls were pick me before pick me became a thing, so glad more people are talking about it.
i think the reason why lorelai don’t like what emily does is because while she was going through her traumas in her childhood, emily was still doing those things. so she associates these activities with the worst times of her life.
I always knew he was an asshole, but rewatching as an adult, I picked up on so many more things that were just grossly inappropriate. Like when Juno’s stepmom said she shouldn’t have been at their house with him alone, maybe as a teen I didn’t get why. As a grown woman, I agreed. BOUNDARIES. He was so terrible & manipulative.
Yeah, she may have been protective of her, but she was really worried about her bailing on giving them that baby. Her protection may not have been genuinely for Juno in that moment.
What i like about this show is that they are flawed people, people hate on SO many aspects of their characters, but this show is just, normal life, normal people who sometimes make bad choices and are the vilain ! They ARE annoying , they judge and even pass the occasional sexist/fatphobic comment, but i LOVE that they are not perfect AND victims of their time and the world around them, i'll never hate this show, it's comforting to me, the vibes and writing is great imo ! (I love your take btw !!)
Ummmm I never thought that but ok
I think even if you watched it as a teenager, when Juno realizes he’s a loser…you also should have. Shouldn’t take until adulthood to realize this.
I didn't know he was homosexual though.
Bro literally happened with me and my brother watching this movie 😂
Though I truly enjoy each of the actors in this movie, Bateman's character set off the groomer radar in me immediately to the point that it overshadowed much of the beauty and comedy of the movie. That gaslight about Juno being hormonal,*LEGIT* sent me into flying colors of rage.
