Having a similar experience. Applied weeks ago for the Premier Strata and never received my card, then I found fraudulent charges on the card I never received. Still waiting on it and not happy. Asked to expedite the replacement but they were like nah we can't. For their most premium non-cobranded card, I expect a lot better. Have never been this disappointed with an issuer. Awful first impression.

That is a wild story Michael!! Their cards synergize like no other. Sad that they fail in all other areas. You have to do what's right for your path!

I had similar experience with Citi regarding the fraud department, and their archaic verification system to unlock the credit card. It's really annoying and frustrating how they treat their customers. I did get my SUB but stopped using the card altogether as it wasn't worth the trouble to keep using the card. I will downgrade to a no fee card in year two, and just sockdraw it forever. Citi<Shitti bank

This video highlights one of the often ignored factors, that customer service is a variable when thinking of selecting a credit card. People can make fun of Amex’s coupon system, but generally you hear nothing but positives about their customer service. Chase seems to vary a bit, but is generally pretty good. I like their secure message system when I don’t feel the need to call.

That long winded verification process when adding card to mobile wallet is new, I've had the card for about a year and the double cash over 2 years and they recently changed something cause now it's a pain but it wasn't like this before What does help so you don't have to wait for a letter in the mail is set up your verification questions like best friends name, state you were born in and so forth. They'll ask those question to unlock your account and even ask the for the bank account number that you use to pay your card bills even if that bank isn't with Citi. It's really long winded and a tedious process and I wish they did better

I’m sorry you had such a bad CS experience with Citi. The card in itself is good for everyday multiplier use and I’m just finishing up 75K SUB. Did you consider product changing to a Custom Cash or other card before cancelling card?

That sucks man. I didn’t realize Citi was so far behind the times. The only time I’ve had to deal with their CS was when I closed their checking account after getting the bonus.

I have a couple of CITI cards including AAdvantage, and have never had any customer service issues. Brothers its really hard to take a guy with a Mario brother hat seriously. That are you thinking ???

Totally agree, their business rules and customer service is not consumer friendly. I got approved for the card and the credit limit was so low I was flabbergasted. Called customer service and "sorry, we can't do anything for you". But I'll ride it out as I'm a frequent flyer on one of their transfer partners. I'll win in the end.

Thanks for sharing. I had a very similar issue with Citi earlier this year. I got the AA Exec card ($595 + $175 for AU’s). Put a lot of spend on it in six months to get AA status. We had fraud around Feb and so we reported it and the card was cancelled. It took 1 Month (!) for them to send us new cards. That’s a whole month of us not being able to spend or use it for travel on AA lounges. I called in several times and they had no idea when we would get replacement cards. In the past with other issuers they would offer to overnight us a new card - even when we were on vacations. Not Citi. 😂. I lost all confidence in Citi and wouldn’t trust them for really anything at this point.

Citi is terrible

The same thing happens to my wife and I but, with Chase, they always have to send a letter with a confirmation number to call and get approved 😂 As always your mileage may vary but, Citi has been great to us💪 Thanks for sharing your experience Michael!🫵

Geez Michael. What a crappy experience brother!!! I remember you talking about the initial issue with having to wait for the letter to input the code just to get approved. Horrible experience man. I would have cancelled too. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Terrible experience. Just bad customer service from start to finish

I had a bad experience almost 3 years ago with Citi, PayPal, and internet scammers. PayPal sided with scammers despite them having no tracking number and no proof of delivery. Citi sided with them. It took 3 written letters of escalation and a sympathic CSR in fraud to undo the $58 charge. It was minimal but I''ve dropped the Citi cards and all PayPal companies like a bad habit and won't look back.

My goodness! This is beyond terrible! The fact that you can't even verify via text and / or email when you're trying to use the card for TRAVEL and it's saying (suspicious activity) 🤔🤷⁉️ Btw, I'm assuming you hit the bonus and used the points already?

I'll be reaching out to AMEX soon to see if they have any retention offers for my accounts and I'm hoping they can offer a little more than what you got

Unfortunately, I think that lower retention offers will be the name of the game for most ppl moving forward. Amex has done quite a bit of restructuring to offer “coupon-like” value specifically for those who are their target audience. It made sense to downgrade both cards with those not so great offers.

American express is a scam. Just like everything in the US.

The blackout dates are for every Federal Holiday. 😂
