It blows my mind what equipment sells for, With online bids and people not running or inspecting equipment to know what needs fixing. They screw themselves . Not sure if they allow sellers to bid n their items, think they do, but dang. clapped out Track loaders going for a premium still in 24'. There is the occasional score, so you just have to be patient, and know what to look for. Auctions are addicting, it is the thrill of the hunt and possibility of a great deal that fuels my obsession .

you can hire a 3rd party appraisal on the insurance, you dont have to take their offer, they will always try to get out as cheap as possible. you compare market comps and condition and prove the rarity of the truck with market prices. They are a enthusiast truck, work horse. I had the same issue with a 5 speed awd vehicle I flew to indiana from WI and purchased, then had a head on collision on highway with a driver that wasnt my fault. Luckily I had a very beefy brush guard on my vehicle, 1st gen crv, it saved my jdm motor and a total unfixable loss) I proved how hard these vehicles are to find, and talked only with the claims total loss manager. he was actually very understanding, and I ended up getting much more, then bought it back for $550 and repaired it myself. worked out well for me (didnt need to hire appraiser). Just know your rights and dont be in a hurry. It sucks if it is your daily, which was for me, but I have other vehicles to drive so I had options.

Would you ever buy a vehicle from them? I was just looking into Denver's copart and like some of the vehicles there just think there is a catch with it! I'm not sure how that whole thing works it seems to good to be true with alot of them

My dad and I paid 5500$ for our 450c. Put about 2k into it after that. Our 450B (4in 1 bucket and backhoe attachment ) was a screamin deal at 800 bucks….. it had a viewing window in the block where a rod had came out to say hi. That one took about 4 grand to make nice with a government surplus John Deere diesel

took my machine apart had a shattered piston and a hole in the spot the piston goes..fixed it now question is ...there was oil in bottom of motor about 1" deep ..does this motor take oil ?? there is a plastic fill plug on top of motor but have no idea of how much oil to use if any ..any help would be great ..thanks

You mentioned the nozzles don't last long. Can you expand on that. Do you know what happens to them? Is it a filter plugging issue or do they wear larger ?

Data is your friend - so with the OEM ecu do you have enough data to diagnose the problem & what happened to cause this failure? If not then maybe an aftermarket ECU is needed. Also as you said these engines arw now getting to 20+ M54 or nearly 30 years old now, so it could be that some failures could be related to fatigue. Injectors is also a strong possibility - are they flowing in spec? Ps just my opinion - I'm watching your video for research on my M52/M54 Turbo build. Great videos thanks 👍🏽

There's a special tool required to install the injector pump which prevents rolling the seals on the end. Other viewers would better know its proper name. It's super tricky putting it back together w/o the tool. Awesome work, job repairing this dozer. I wish I could afford it. 😊😊

I ran a ford back hoe for about 5 years at cemetery - the problem with them is they tip over unlike an excavator - my hilly land in northern Vermont makes owning one questionable - still love them though

Thank you for your reply. We all seem to be suffering from shiny arses who design ( use the term loosely!)who have NO hands on experience and no clue as to what they are doing, prime example, the latest overpriced cars that are nearly impossible to do basic repairs / replacements of parts.
