Good job on keeping that rare girl on the road. Looks good with that bumper, matches the flatbed very well. Be careful though when towing because those bumpers block a lot of air flow and mite make you overheat. Happen to me with an 05 Duramax and a ranch hand bumper when I would haul equipment during the summer months.
That sucks, but it came out looking great. I have the ranch hand on my 2011 Silverado 2500 HD. It retained the tow hooks and fog lights. So far, it has collected 2 deer here in Texas. Just required a good hosing off... I am glad your truck has lived to fight another day.
Awesome DIY repair, I think it makes the rig look solid. Looks like you could put a hidden winch behind it if you wanted with little ease. Watched the tractor paint vid before this and subbed, look forward to future content.
If I could AC the world, I would.. I'm in Southeast Texas, lol. Hot & Humid is 9 months out of the year. They tend to arrest you when you get to a certain point with removing clothes,
Reminds me when I had to do something similar and used an impact to undo the bumper bolts, when the bumper came loose it smacked me in the knee like Babe Ruth, hurt like hell almost threw up lol. Great stuff, keep it up!
I ended up doing that after replacing all the bushings, balljoings, and steering components. The truck aligns out good again. If there is any frame damage it isnt enough to bother me anymore.
Not yet. Just doing what I can to avoid salt and washing the undercarriage often. It will need a passenger side rocker panel soon... I want to take care of that before it spreads
@@spankranchgarage I've done fluid film on my winter cars and it does really work. Does need to be applied sept/oct time frame and ideally at least a week of no rain. It does make every job an oily mess but no rust (so pick your poison). This is after 5 New England winters driving into snow storms/salty roads every weekend in winter. I plan to try cosmoline next as it is supposed to dry hard so hopefully no much of a mess when doing repairs. CRC marine wax spray also works great on clean non rusted exposed parts
I bought it here. It was the absolute best price I could find at the time. www.bbwheelsonline.com/frontier-truck-gear-300-20-1005-front-bumper-black-for-silverado-2500/?sku=FTQN%20300-20-1005
How’d the weight end up affecting front axle weight? I’ve got an 02 CCLB cab and chassis F350 w/ZF6 and never get close to rear axle gross. But the front is usually a couple hundred pounds away. Only reason I’ve stuck with the stock bumper.
Id imagine it added about 170lbs to the front axle weight. These trucks have a low (imo) front axle GVW and I am usually cutting it pretty close already. Ill see how it checks out next time I roll some scales.
I dont have any rust proofing yet. I just try to be mindful of salt and wash the underside as often as I can. Its going to need a passenger side rocker soon.
Iv got a 02 duramax zf6. I’ve had someone take it apart to put a new motor in and then they just up and quit the job. So I got my truck back in parts. How can I get ahold of you to get some pictures of wiring and some of the engine bay?. Iv got the motor in and 90% done but there are a few things I’m stumped on and can’t find nothing on the lb7 zf6 online. Can you please help me out?
Dude, insurance told me my 8.1 was worth $5600 IIRC, so I hired an insurance consultant and they got the insurance to come up to $11k, so it put just over $7k in my pocket to fix it. I have a video with the details
That truck must be tough as nails. A hit like that, would have totalled most regular cars.
Nice job straightening the corner out
Cool looking truck. We are not into pickup’s in the uk - pity😊🇬🇧
A video you don’t look forward to making… thanks for bringing us along! Love the channel
I appreciate that!

Thats good to hear! Hopefully I dont have to hit any more animals but only time will tell

Thanks for stopping by!!!
Glad the damage wasn't worse, that is a REALLY nice truck :)

Awesome workmanship, truck looks great.
Thanks 👍

Great stuff, keep it up!
Measure from lower ball joint center to rear spring front mount. Your wheel base will probably be short on the left side.

What a great job fixing your truck!.
for a rust free truck, any preventative measures to maintain that? Fluid film, cosmoline?

Frustrating for sure, but you're ok and the truck, while damaged, did it's job to keep you safe.
Great job sir
where did you get that badass bumper from? need that for my 02 2500HD

Got your email. Ill get back to you when I am home for the weekend

I was considering going that route. But I was able to do all the repair for 3300 bucks. I could of fought for more but didnt want to play the games
cant wait to see what the next bear looks like...
