- Off to a late start with this carts 14th year of drifting. She's seen better days but there is still enough of it left to have some fun.
Nevermind. Engine blew up second lap.
Let’s see who caught the little treat at the very end 😅
😭 F
ffs lol
I’m gutted, and it’s not even my turd!🤣
It's a BMW thing.
LS swap
Honestly, keeping a car alive is much more fun to see than all the other people building new cars left and right. Takes more work and skill to keep the car alive than building a new one. I love it
Sure does. People scrap their shells and start over so quickly it blows my mind. It also helps driving a car that owes me nothing.
@@spankranchgarage Yeah, people keep building 30-50k cars and driving them untill they break. Scraps it and re-starts.
Oh shit, more E36 stuff from my favorite E36 channel
stoked to see more drift content. hope it gets going soon again
Such a bummer man, I was looking forward to laps. At least you had some time for partyin
this is so neat, ive always passed your house going to the junkyard thinking that was the coolest wagon ive ever seen, just for you to get recommended to me on my yt. Small world, Awesome vid!
Small world!!!! Harrys is the best
Oh snap slight mood change at the end lol. Still an awesome car!
Looks like a ton of fun. Hope to see some in car race vids at the track. Whoooo hooo😅
Love the E36 vibes
Gotta admit that patina does look pretty damn good
Pretty sweet ride b cool to c the video on how the hole got there lol
Coming soon. It’s 3 holes 😆
best e36 known to man
really like such "DIY" drift projects and then watch it ripping. It was a killer at midpond with new turbo. Very sad that blew up....this is partially why I'm keeping my B30 (dynoed around 420 like yours) just resting on 0,6 bar to keep her alive maybe longer.
Wishing you the longest of engine life. Some seem to last forever and some don’t.
@spankranchgarage yeah, for sure there is a part of "lotery" how long will which engine last, even having the same setup and the same "best possibile" tune. Will you be rebulding it?
@@FaworDrifts This block has too many holes in it to rebuild, plus the rod went through the oil gally on the alternator side. But I will be building another motor. Maybe forged rods and pistons this time?
Neat revive!
Would love to see you dissect the engine after failure & give us your thoughts about what may have happened.
I'm looking to turbo my M50B25NV, would love your input on what to do & what not to do after years of owning yours.
Thanks!
I have a video coming out about this failure this week. I also have lots of other M50/52/54 turbo videos on the channel that you might find helpful
I’m glad I found your channel. You’re very knowledgeable. What’s your background? Have you worked a particular trade most of your life?
I started in automotive then I transitioned into mechanical engineering. But I am a full time red-neck tinkerer.
I like the turkey gobble
E36 best car
So many memes about e36 problems, but the m52 really is a tank
They have been great to me... but these last 3 years ive broken 3 of them. Starting to wonder if there just getting old or am I just getting old.
💙
Love the E36 content man im restoring an E30 currently with a M50NV ready to build for it. Also what blade do you have in your Milwaukee saw thats wild lol
In the chop saw? It’s just an abrasive wheel
@spankranchgarage I mean in your skilsaw is it one of those diablo blades?
@@xelad6159 Oh yeah! A diablo metal blade in a skilsaw is awesome. Thats 10ga steel and it rips right through. Ive cut maybe 20 feet of it so far and havent lost a single carbide tooth yet. There expesive blades but worth it. Those chips coming off are HOT
Can you make a video on a bit of a build breakdown, manifold maf and other parts used
Maybe when I install a new engine in the spring I will. But this car is very simple. No MAF. Old SPA turbo manifold. The most basic of basic setups.
@spankranchgarage I'd love some advice on doing something similar with a z3, simple basic cheap lol
Seen it at haunted was definitely ripping
Hit and quit
What’s up with the fancy attire?
Business casual
Poor Beretta in the back, looking like my Camaro shelf. You see Bfest next year is Watkins Glen?
Its so close to home I dont think ill have an excuse to miss it this year
@spankranchgarage you skipped Ocean City and that was closer🤣
But I didn't go to Niagara falls so...
Rip block
hell yea an e36 update
The idle is really rich ?
how do you read that AFR value if it's E85 ?
Whatever it blew up lol
My tuner is sloppy, But you might also be looking at warmup enrichment. It used to sit 13-14.0 at warm idle but I’m not concerned enough to look anymore. As long as she’s happy under boost I am happy
@@spankranchgarage The AFR sensor on sees remaining oxygen,so even on E85 it's the equivalent of a gas tune wich you can see on the gauge.
13-14 is way too rich on gas ,even warm idle you dilute your oil and you end up with a hole in the block.
chain tensionner gave up by lack of oil ?
@@michaelovitch The o2 sensor reads lambda. It displays in gasoline AFR scale. Stoich is stoich no matter what the fuel is. So 14.7 is stoich weather its on methanol, ethanol, diesel, gasoline etc. So yes its not reading to true scale but if it idles at 14.7 (Gasoline scale but e85 fuel) it really means a ratio of ~9.7:1 or whatever stoich for e85 is. Shoot for ~11.0 under heavy load/boost and all is well.
As for oil dilution I am well aware. I spun bearings in a truck from this in the past. In this case I am very cautious in ensuring complete combustion. Even at 11.5:1 at idle your not putting fuel in the oil if the engine is healthy and the timing is correct. This engine did not die from a lubrication problem (video to come on that soon)
@@spankranchgarage
Just for the "audience engagement" or whatever it's called i suggest you to at least briefly introduce the main events, like a hole in an engine block, in the beginning or in a mini suggesting summary, even verbally.
People tend to not watch entirely the video,so they miss a lot.
You have plenty to show, and a quite good presentation, you can grab more attention in my humble opinion.
Greets from France.
Looks like you got a small oil leak there at the end. Maybe a quart of lucas and turn the boost down a lb and send it…
Needs a little RTV up front too then she’s good!
Do you still do the kit you were building for timeserting m54 blocks, tried emailing but no reply.
hope you got some rips out of it before it did boom 😮
It grenaded on the second lap. I was annoyed but in hindsight it would have been worse if I had cars behind me and caused a wreck. I was running solo getting warmed up when it blew
Hey bud, what ecu are you using
Megasquirt
You proly have a spare engine!
Running out of spares at this point!
🤦🏼♂️
That's not drifting.
Thanks. I’m new to the sport looking to get better
