Any info on high-rise beachfront for residentials? I wish to buy 20th floor 2BR unit.
Where do you find these apartments and rentals online?
Stay in your countries. The same countries where you don't like foreigners from the South of Europe and are racist, mean and dont give the same chance for good job opportunities. Just shitty jobs to pay your exploitative rentals. Stay in your countries!
Greece is beautiful. Its people are kind and it’s extremely safe outside of Athens. Unfortunately it’s expensive. Everywhere nowadays everywhere is expensive. The islands are very expensive. I’s taxes just might be the worst in the EU. Any program is difficult to get into.
I wonder from where did you get the information that Cantabria has the highest homicide rate?
Zaragoza is beautiful, and people very nice, but weather is absolutelu miserable in summer and winter
Have you done other more north Italian towns too
UPDATE: Chile is going down very fast in everything. Now is expensive and not safe at all. We have more than 10% of immigrants, mostly from colombia and venezuela and more of the half of them are coming via no regular entries, so there is a lot of criminals among them.
One thing you need to be mindful of in Portugal is the housing. Humidity and mold is a huge problem. Evora tends to be the hottest region in Portugal so you might think it doesnt get mold. but i rented 5 flats in Portugal and mold was a problem in 2 of them. yes its possible to find decent housing but dont rush into buying a property. please dont take on the huge mistake of trying to do a renovation BEFORE you have lived there 2 full years. if you have been residents 24 months and havent escaped 3-6 months a year (3 months in winter and 2 months in summer) and you like how you feel, then sure consider then to buy. but there are so many issues that surface once you make long term plans.
Limoux is a fantastic small city. I was there 10 years ago. It is the birthplace of 'sparkling wine'!
Thank you! 😊
Question - why do Brasilians abroad try to discourage us from abroad to move to Brasil, but these same people live the good life when they come home. Gangsters , violence, now the heat is horrible, impoverished, its so expensive. I say please stop the cap. This is like saying all the usa is Chicago and Baltimore, ans the heat of south Florida will kill you! I live the Good life in Brasilia and you sir continue to spread negativity about the Brasil I love. U only say positive things at the end of the video. Why do so many Brasilians I meet in the states say these bad things about Brasil?

You need to desperate work om your English
Hello! At 17.12 you speak about Lucca but you're showing Siena's Piazza del Campo😊
Compares to say US cities Paris is way safer. These things happen in any big city exceptions being of pate Chinese cities so good on safety factor
Why are taking like that??
would love a video on sardinia about retiring
Do you pay tax to your home country and the new country?
not if your country has a dual tax treaty with your country of residence.
I wish you’d leave the name of the town on the screen while you talk. You only say it once, quickly, and with all the talking I forget what town you’re even talking about.
Take notes.
Rewind, replay and you don’t have to sound condescending with broken English comment 🤣🤣
I forgot France. France has a great medical coverage once you obtain residency.
Can you cover Murcia, more specifically San Pedro del Pinatar?
Brilliant idea! Just put it into our plan of videos for 2025! Thanks!
Great video. Which website do you use for searching rental apartments? Thx
This one: www.idealista.com/ You are welcome!
@the_expat thanks. Looked however the rental listing prices are much higher for some reason
Since joining the EU, Malta has gone to the dogs. This is not just my view, but also the view of many locals. Tourism has certainly boosted the economy, but it has been overly developed and over populated to the point of bursting at the seams. Malta has lost much of it's charm due to this development greed. Of course, those who disagree with my view, are those who are benefiting most from development, tourist rentals and any direct or indirect money making schemes. Foreigners with money, are buying property and the demand has raised the value so much, that young local couples, cannot afford to rent let alone buy. They postpone marriage because of this, and continue to live with parents. Much of the crime, is commited by foreingners from E U countries or Eastern European basket case countries. Yes indeed, Malta may have it's charm, great health care, lots of sunshine, and cheaper cost of living than much of Europe.......but it has most certainly gone to the dogs.
Wow... that is a very interesting way to see it. I think tourist rentals should be controlled - they indeed displace locals.
@the_expat I envy all those south east Asian countries that have become very popular with European and American foreigners, like Thailand, Vietnam, etc. They allow them to move and retire there, but they are not allowed to own land. This is done to protect the locals from foreign investors with money, who are always ready to pay a higher prices, and outbid the locals.
Over tourism a problem all over unfortunately, even in places like Scotland. Suspect dirty money has made it worse in Malta.
Interesting! What are the biggest challenges of living or retiring in Valencia? Is it the cost of living, bureaucracy, or something else? Also, how does Valencia compare to other cities in Spain for expats? I’d love to hear more about the pros and cons!
Of all the challenges, the rising cost of living is probably the biggest one. However, with the increasing controls over Airbnb units, there is a chance they will start to stabilize or even drop.
What about the visa requirements for each country?
Good question! We made an entire video about it :) ruclips.net/video/rUmj0wZ8Dl8/видео.htmlsi=CiP34S0RCDaTbnL1
I think Switzerland is safer then El Salvador. Medellin has the best weather in all places i lived so far.
Isn't Medellin too humid?
@@the_expat Oh no not at all. I never needed the AC or Heater there in the condo.
I enjoyed this video very much. I appreciate the focus on smaller cities and towns. This video may be my favorite video of yours. Also, I love your accent. You have a charming accent.
Thank you very much!
I have visited Paris a couple of times. Last time I stayed in Montmartre and walked around visiting the cafés and bars late at night. They were filled with people and I never had a problem. I always wanted to visit Louvre but did not want to waste an hour or more queuing up outside. There are more exciting things to do in Paris. The main problem is finding a good restaurant. It's almost impossible. Fortunately there are many good shops. Why do you ask if Paris is worse than Mexico? I've spent some good times in Mexico. What's your problem? Have you been there?
Yes, I have been there. No, I don't have any problem. This video is mostly about facts. To talk about violence, you don't need to have "a problem" with a place, just be factual.
Is this a sign to leave Hawaii running into another good video of yours?
Hahahaha good one! Thanks!
I’ve always been puzzled by how Swiss citizens manage to be so wealthy despite the majority of them renting their homes. Isn’t homeownership supposed to be one of the pillars of building wealth?
Not necessarily. In Switzerland, they prioritize saving and investing over tying up their wealth in real estate. Their financial system encourages long-term investments in diversified portfolios, which often yield better returns than owning property.
That makes sense. A friend told me Swiss citizens also avoid some common financial mistakes, like over-leveraging on mortgages or failing to account for taxes and maintenance costs on properties. It’s all about keeping liquidity and investing wisely.
Exactly! One major mistake many people make is thinking that owning a home is the ultimate investment. But without proper diversification, you could end up with all your money tied up in one asset. That's why I finally sought advice from a financial expert.
I did the same thing after struggling to manage my investments on my own. My CFA, Joseph Nick Cahill, helped me restructure my portfolio, and I’m seeing consistent growth. He emphasizes strategies to avoid common pitfalls like chasing trends or neglecting inflation
I’ve heard about Joseph Nick Cahill! He’s known for his expertise in building wealth both for short-term gains and long-term security. Plus, he offers free consultations, which is great for getting started without any commitment.
Hello expatriate, you speak too fast...some of us older listeners are having a hard time understanding your broken English. Speaking slower would be much appreciated.
That is a very good advice! Thanks!
You can slow down the video yourself. You will see the little gear cog symbol in the upper right corner of the video. When you click on it, a menu comes down and you can choose the speed you want by clicking on it. Start with .75. Any lower, and the words may be too distorted.
Use closed captioning option.
Wow the sense of entitlement! Someone has to change the way they speak to accommodate your needs 🤣🤣
I slow down the playback speed. Works great!
I'm not even 1/2 way through and the prices you quote for apartments are ridiculous. If they were twice or more the size, that would sound good. But how do you have a 2 bed apartment that's 34m2? My bedroom is that size and my place isn't that big, my small bedroom is at least 24m2. But you are nailing it on great and affordable cities, just don't expect the housing to be as inexpensive for the # of rooms. I'm moving to a city 12 minutes away from Benidorm by tram, but it's 1/2 the price.....Limounex France is a bargain 2 bed 91m2 at 560 is great.
It is 2-room apartment, not 2 bedroom. So it means a bedroom and a living room. Thanks!
Worse than mexico? We are the 6th most visited country with 2m of americans and canadians coming to live in mexico in droves. 😂😂😂😂😂, you meant worse than Africa or Irak.
I am just talking about violence :) Mexico is beautiful and has plenty of amazing things!
@the_expat OK cool, but remember that mexico has 20 homicides per 100,000 inhabitantes, 10 countries in américa has a higher homicides such as Honduras, Venezuela, Jamaica, U.S virgin islands, turks and caicos, etc. Homicide rate list 2024 1. Turks and caicos 76 homicides per 100k inhabitants. 2. U.S virgin island ,yeah, its part of your safe country USA. 49 homicides per 100k inhabitants 3. Jamaica. 49 homicides per 100k i habitants 4. Ecuador. 45 homicides per 100k inhabitants. 5. South África. 45 homicides per 100k inhabitants 6. Haití. 41 homicides per 100k inhabitants 7. Saint Vicent and Granadines. 40 homicides per 100k inhabitants 8. Trinidad y Tobago. 39 homicides per 100k inhabitants. 9. Lesotho. 37 homicdes per 100k inhabitants. 10. Love your accent man. Often wondered what happened to you after Borat.

These small European cities look so charming and perfect for retirement! I’m curious: What factors were considered in ranking these towns-cost of living, healthcare, or quality of life? Are there any visa requirements for Americans looking to retire in these countries? Also, how easy is it to integrate into the local community, especially if you don’t speak the language?
You almost nailed it: cost of living, healthcare, quality of life, plus safety and tax incentives :) Basically that. If you don't speak the language in these small cities (except those in Algarve in Portugal), integration with the local community probably will be quite hard.
You must learn the language. To not do so shows disrespect and arrogance.
A v important thing for me, is the migration / visa process and ease of finding housing / accomm which isn't too costly.
That is a good point! I made an entire video about retirement visas in Europe, here: ruclips.net/video/rUmj0wZ8Dl8/видео.htmlsi=Yub0N3f7SlDm5YvK

southern italy is controlled by the mafia
First, it is a mistake to say "the French". French culture, attitudes and mentalities vary enormously, whether you are in the North, in the South, in Paris, in the countryside, in Brittany, in Corsica, in Dordogne or in Alsace. Careful about many "non-expensive" places in France: ugly, polluted, massive immigration, insecurity, poor services, no medical, no shops, etc. If you plan to work in France, taxes are going to be humongous. Americans will pay taxes in the US on their SS, not in France. You are misleading people here. Thank you for mentioning the increasing violence, something that most videos made by American and other expats in France never talk about. France is now, statistically, the most dangerous country in Western Europe. The massive immigration coupled with an extremely corrupt and weak justice system is behind daily rapes, murders, and high-level aggression. It used to be location-specific, but that is changing rapidly. It is now spreading in nice neighborhood and in the countryside. Remember, the French do not have a Second Amendment and get punished by jail if they shoot a criminal on their property. However, the dangerous riffraff all wear huge knives, firearms and even automatic weapon, and get very light sentences or none at all. I am French living in the US. I really would like to return to my country. I don't' because of two things: ridiculously high taxes and high crime.
You are not welcome in the north of Spain

€850 for an apartment in Larnaca is too expensive!
