Old Gun Review: 3 Screw Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag
Thanks Allen. Hope you come back this summer 2025. Your videos are a lot of fun to watch and informative.
Good do it yourself info and no sales pitch. I didn't even see his name on this page much less his brand of gun and ammo. This guy made it clear his results were what worked for his gun with no I've got the finest gun and ammo available and you should too. His pitch is how you can assess your guns ability with a piece of paper and a felt pen. I've subscribed!
Excellent video, 44 mag for me.
excellent video my friend. Straight to the point and you answered all the questions ive had kicking around in my head. Your knowledgeable, calm manner made for a relaxing and informative tutorial.
If you use a 44 mag with a ported barrel there is very little recoil
Awesome
Good advice will take two in the field
why would you not use two handguns that are the same barrel length
I doubt that made much of a difference with 1-2 inch difference
That top shot was a spine hit..NICE .😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I go with the 44. It would only take a few rounds compared to a whole mag of 10mm.. Plus, you can be accurate out to 100 yds.. I like the double action revolvers so you don't have to think about cocking the hammer before pulling the trigger.
Not as good as AK
Great job Allen, may God and Mary bless your entire family and keep you safe. Thank you for the video.
Perfect - same gun I have
Loved the sling. Had to find it online - Brass Stacker. Ordered one that fits both my 1873 and Henry. Haven't received it yet, so any issues I will update.
Tikka 300mag Game- over.
The famous mad trapper of Canada used a savage 99 in 30-30.
Best I’ve found is fatwood/lighter pine/rich lighter. It’s the heartwood of dead pine trees that has resin and will start even wet.
How about a semi-auto vs pump-action with full choke comparisons? Or the older style non-threaded choke barrels vs threaded interchangeable choke barrels both in full choke with buckshot.
Excellent
Excellent test. Thanks for sharing.
The squared off trigger guard is called a Dragoon which dates back to Colt’s early percussion Dragoon models.
Best I remember the new models, with transfer bar, were made in 1974 and later.
I own a 3-screw SBH made in 1968. It’s definitely quality made.
Literally the stupidest comparison ever. There cannot be anyone with any general knowledge of pistol calibers that doesn't know that a hot .44 Magnum load has literally 3x the muzzle energy of a hot 10mm. As I wrote that sentence, it occurred that maybe you're making this for people that have no clue, but that makes no sense because those folks aren't watching video like this, so help us make any kind of sense as to why you'd provide this to your viewers. I really do want to understand.
If barrel length had been the same and then you factor in ability to take follow up shots plus the fact the 44 has 5-6 rounds and the Glock 40 has 15 rounds and can carry 22 rounds makes the Glock 40 not the Glock 20 the best Bear gun to have
you do deserve it, Subscribed great video!
Great work
Your title is deceiving. He claims that you’ll speak about the advantages and disadvantages of a chest holster when in fact, you’re comparing a chest holster to aside holster.
Excellent video. Thanks for posting. I had read that for slugs or buckshot you should use open or improved cyl. Your test definitely says otherwise. And yes we should all pattern our guns so we know what to expect down range.
GO BUY MEAT AT THE STORE....I HATE WHEN MEN KILL FOR SPORT. ITS CRUEL.
Thanks!
all they did was stand around and talk they didnt fire the weapon once nor did they show if a desert eagle would kill a bear all thought that did make some good points i googled can a desert eagle drop a bear and this was the top result EPIC FAIL FOR GOOGLE!!!!!
I seem to have problems with the 350 legend and 450 bushmaster in below freezing temperatures in the AR platform, mostly failure to feed
Excellent video 👍 I always love watching two of the greatest caliber's compete for dominance , but as far as I'm concerned there both captains 👍
Great test!!!!!
There’s something about the reliability of a wheel gun even though you get far less bangs. I think having both is the answer
That’s a beautiful shotgun brother! Perfect for bear defense or defense against any big animals that might want to kill you in Alaska.
This notion that in bear country you should carry the most powerful firearm you can safely and accurately shoot is flawed in that there are limits of reality. For example, what if the most powerful firearm you can safely and accurately handle is .380 semi-auto or a .22 caliber. In that case, if that's all you can handle then you best stay out of bear country.
People go into bear country with bear spray I’d rather have a 380 than nothing at all brother
FWIW, The tighter choke constrictions for CZ and many others are “modern” for IM .025 (5/8ths), F .030 (3/4); “classic” constrictions would be tighter for IM .030 (3/4) and F .040 and some aftermarket chokes, such as kicks buck kicker, are still LF .030, F .040, EF .050. This is primarily because gun manufacturers know there are a lot of trade-offs (flyers, decreased velocity, etc.) with standard loads beyond .030 constriction.
Nice channel. It's surprising how little content there is about weapon proficiency for changing bears in English.
I mean, kind of. In Nordic countries, you need to be able to get off 4 shots in 40 seconds at 80 meters (In Sweden) or 100 m (in Norway) from the side in the lung area, repeat at 40 m then get off two shots from the side at 20 m and one shot in the front with all three rounds in 10 s. Follow-up shot must be re-aquired in 4 s. You can look up "björnpasset" or "björnskyttte". Some of the clubs want you to be able to get off two shots from the front. Firearm must be least than 5 kg, excluding ammunition, including accessories like optics and suppressor, and bullets must be at least 9 grams with E100 of 2 700 joules or 10 g with E100 of 2 000 J. For polar bears, the E100 is increased to 2 200 J.
Björnskytte. I would edit, but RUclips removes edited posts.
Good video. I own both guns as well and carry each one for different reasons. I still feel most comfortable with the 44 Mag. One thing that should be noted is you might only have time to get off one shot. You want the most damage done with that one shot and revolvers don't jam.
9mm in Alaska? Are you shooting wolf and rabbit?
Can you remove the butt pad and maybe 3D print one to lengthen the butt stock for us longarm people ?
Get yourself a rifled slug choke it will shoot Sabot or Foster slugs just fine, I shoot reming5on sluggers out of my old 870 pump and a Carlson rifled choke tube with about a half to 1 inch grouping at 50 yards
The penetration results were likely influenced by the order in which the guns were fired.
Did you get to keep the meat?
Coop Bear Target. THANK YOU GUYS GIRLFRIEND YOU ARE SWEET 💪
As an Alaskan I prefer hip holsters for hunting chest holsters for hiking.
10mm doesn't come close to the remington. 44 magnum. You can load .44 magnum much hotter than 10mm
