Just installed my PS-38 and love it. Preparation is critical to a successful installation. Before installing the unit, must mark the 4 screw holes on the bottom of the wall cabinet and make sure they are unobstructed and can provide enough support to the weight.
Hi! Hauslane recommends for best overall longevity to use rigid duct. that being said, you will want to discuss with your contractor or installer what the necessary duct material is needed for any particular setup. Additionally, some building codes have restrictions on duct type, so make sure you are complying by local building code requirements. - Hauslane

You may hardwire as most home still require hardwire. We would advise to hire a professional electrician to avoid any future problems or issues. Our customers have hardwired and were able to feel the wires through an existing hole that is located at the rear of the unit. - Hauslane
Hi, the distance between my under cabinet and stove is 30inch, by installing this range hood I will have 21inch 3/4 from the bottom of range hood and my stove. Is that within the specs?

Hello. I am really excited about trying the Hauselane brand, which is why I was watching this video. However, I have a question. What is the "top" and what is the "bottom " of the range hood? The presenter measures to the bottom of the cabinet, which to me, is not the "bottom" of the range hood, but the "top" of the range hood. I have a gas stove, so I would need the 30 inches. Thank you for the video and I hope to hear from you.
Hi! We are excited to answer any questions for you. For your gas stove, we do recommend 30 inch between the cooktop surface and the bottom of the range hood. Hauslane
Thank you for reaching out! For all Hauslane range hoods, the recommended clearance over a gas cooktop is 28"-30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the range hood. For electric, we recommend 24"-30" of clearance to safely mount the hood. The bottom of the range hood is the lowest part where the baffle filters are visible. - Hauslane
What do you do if the cabinet depth is 14" (instead of 12"). Do you still align the back of the hood on the wall, or pull it forward to be flush at the front of the cabinet?
Rear venting installation is tricky. Please visit our blog for installation process. We will include in this our video schedule for rear ducting installation.
@@Hauslane The issue is that the rear-duct adapter on the hood is exactly the same size (3 1/4x10")as the standard duct vent pipes, and thus they won't mesh. To fit one needs to be smaller to fit inside the other. Making it harder is that the sheet-metal piping in ducts has corner bends for joining the halves which then extend about 2-3mm into the interior of the duct - and this making it even smaller. One needs to try to compress these and bend the ducting enough to make it larger to fit over the hood adapter, or fashion some sort of F-F over-fit adapter onto the ducting. Even so, then trying to insert the hood vent adapter into any such setup with 3/4" clearance on the wall when mounting is difficult at the least. I didn't find anything on this in your blog posting(s). Basically unless you can find or fashion a F-F metal duct adapter, I would not recommend trying this. Yes - "tricky". I needed to do it because I did not want to give up cabinet space above the hood, or have to do additional woodwork cutting into and through the cabinets.
Since this hood does 950 CFM. Does it create air issue in residential houses and apartments? Because most do not have dedicated Air Maker to bring in fresh air to account for the air been pushed outside the house.
@@victorvek5227 It says in the specs 950cfm. So I end up returning the unit once I learned about the air maker requirement. Now looking for 400cfm hood. Unless you saying they are over stating the 950cfm.. in that case what about units listed as 400cfm?

0:59 uuh, is it just me or is that NOT enough clearance for the range hood you are installing? that is definitely LESS than 30" of space between the stove & bottom of the range hood! 😳🔥
How about this: M1503.2 Duct Material Ducts serving range hoods shall be constructed of galvanized steel, stainless steel or copper. Range hoods shall discharge to the outdoors through a duct. The duct serving the hood shall have a smooth interior surface, shall be air-tight, shall be equipped with a back-draft damper and shall be independent of all other exhaust systems.
That is correct. At Hauslane, we always recommend using galvanized duct to avoid grease build up. In some videos, we used flexible duct for demonstration purposes.

What’s Hausline’s opinion on semi-rigid duct? I thought that was highly discouraged now due to build up of grease and lesser durability

I would align the back on the wall so you won't accidently bump into the range hood.
Why doesn't this unit come with adapter for rectangular duct like ps18?
Hi! The PS38 does not come with rear venting because auto clean is not compatible with the rear vent.

@Hauslane ....cmon, i didnt ask about rear venting. I asked about a rectangular duct adapter!
How about with a rear vent ducting? Trickier to match to th event pipe.

Anything over 400 CFM requires return air or there can be serious consequences. That being said, the PS38 comes no where near 950, just FYI.
