This range hood sat in my garage for seven months waiting to be installed. Today I used the auto steam for the first time and I'm impressed. It was a happy accident I ordered this model as the one I was researching was out of stock. Best extra hundred dollars I've ever spent...a genius design.
Great feature! I can't wait to get my PS38. My only critique of this video is that the gamma is really high, so you can't really see the dirt on the dirty cloth because it is so blown out. I want to see that grease!
Hey Ken... You will not be regretted about the feature! FYI, we are expecting shipment for the UC-PS38 in about a few days. The wait is finally over! Hauslane
Hi! You will want to add warm soapy water to the water tray. We do not recommend abrasive household cleaners, but standard dish detergent is just fine! - Hauslane
Thanks for this question, the PS18 and PS38 are both Pro Series models for heavy cooking. The PS18 has dishwasher safe baffle filters for easy cleaning, and 3 way venting options from top, side or rear. PS38 is our first Pro series undercabinet model with auto-clean built in, but in only vents from the top 6" round adapter.
Should one use boiling water in order for the process to work properly? I see that you're using a water kettle with hot water but unsure of what temperature water to use. I checked the manual and don't see any indication of this there either.
We only recommend using warm soapy water. Water does not need to be boiled or heated further, as the auto clean feature includes a small water heater to produce the steam.
@@Hauslane I was actually wondering about this. The manual just says "water" with no mention of temperature or detergent/soap. So soap (hand dish soap) is okay to use? I have used ours with room temperature water and it clearly removes some grease. Thanks.
What is the difference between the PS18 and this PS38 beside the self cleaning? Also why this hood has the flat cover in the bottom vs say a grid with many opening to suck the cooking steam and smoke vertically instead of going the edge and sucking some of them and some might escape.
UC-PS38 has the perimeter design that will effectively remove cooking fume from the front burner. The flat panel creates suction around the range hood, forming a suction zone to capture cooking fumes.
Hauslane carries several wall-mounted units that can be converted to ductless. We suggest the WM 739 for a gas range due to the highest CFM. hauslane.com/products/wm-739ss-30
Hi David! The PS38 comes with a stainless steel panel (filter) to help guide the oils, grease, etc back to the rear grease tray! The panel filter is dishwasher safe. -Hauslane
@@Hauslane Yes, water cup filled. You guys sent me a new pump but that didn't fix it. You've sent me a new circuit board but I haven't gotten a chance to get it in.
For the steam-clean function, our range hood draws water then turn it into steam spraying onto the fan wheel and housing to soften up grease. After that, it follow by a water cleansing process and the residue will be drained back into the water tray. Hope answer your question. :) Hauslane
My unit is older (3 years now) and the water cleaner pump never worked. I was told by Hauslane to get a new pump and take the whole thing apart to replace. At least can you send me a pump and I will see if I can get a handyman to replace.
Unfortunately, this is not compatible with a rear 10 inch vent. However, you can check out our UC-PS18. This has 3 way venting with rectangular adapter for top venting and rear venting. Here is the link: www.hauslane.com/collections/under-cabinet-range-hoods/products/ps18?variant=12409615450186

Thank you Dana! I am glad you like our UC-PS38. This auto clean function will help you prolong the life of your motors while removing the gunk inside.
I run 3 cycles every time I clean mine wich is once every 3 months and never seen as dirty water coming out as yours.
Great video! 👍

Very informative. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Is water sufficient or do I need to add a cleaner to the water solution?

Seems ps18 popular than self clean model. Why is it? Does the performance differ?

Is there an additional filter on this unit too?
Hi David!
The PS38 comes with a stainless steel panel (filter) to help guide the oils, grease, etc back to the rear grease tray!
The panel filter is dishwasher safe.

I tried it on mine and the timer goes and I can hear the fans running but no water gets sucked up.
Same here. Fan is on, but no water sucks up
Hi Nick, make sure the water cup is filled up at least halfway. If you are still having trouble please email us at support@hauslane.com.

my hood did not heat the water. It was not 'steaming'. just cold water coming back out. Why?
