No annoying bells, whistles or music, but as always just straight-to-the-point valuable information explained in an easy-to-understand manner. All of Jerry's videos on the MG have been very informative and spot-on. Thank you, Jerry, you are my number-one port of call if I need to know anything about my MG.
Thanks Jerry. We learn a lot from you. Very happy with our MG ZS EV SR. Wondered why Fast Charger only charged at 22kwh when it was a 50kwh charger. It was nearly freezing that morning so I will use preheat battery mode next time.
Hi, would be nice to have a full explanation regarding when to charge my MG , how to preserve battery life, should i charge till 80% or 100%... when do i need to charge at 25%..20% or even 5%...? Thanks mate!!
Great video (as always) Jerry. Couple of notes: you referred to DC charging as Fast charging. That can be a little confusing. Not sure about NZ but in UK agreed terminology is: Slow Charging - AC up to 3.5kW (like when using granny cable and standard domestic outlet) , Fast Charging - AC 7kW (single phase cable) or up to 43kW (three phase cable), Rapid Charging - DC 50kw, Ultra Rapid Charging - DC 100kW and more. Secondly maximum charging speed (both AC and DC) available for MG ZS EV varies between specs and regions. For example AC charging for NZ cars max 11kw, UK spec car max 6.5kW. It's good to know that. Because of that buying for instance three phase type 2 cable in UK is a waste of money.
Yes, it was quite interesting that our ZS EV here support 3 phase AC charge. I always refer all AC as slow charge and DC as fast charge. It’s unfortunately the way how we communicate with customers. If I keep saying DC or AC, a lot clients wouldn’t have a clue what that means lol.
How do I set up the scheduled charging (SC) at home in my 2022 MG ZS EV Essence (NZ), from with in the car, as I don’t have the I-Smart app? Is there an easy step-by- step set of instructions on how to do set up the SC ? Does my car need to be turned on to set up scheduled charging? How much time in advance, do I need to set up the SC ( as suggested by Hamilton Winger Motors?
Hi Jerry, what happens if the electricity of the charging point/station goes off during a charging session, so basically the charging stops mid-way. In this situation, can we take the charging plug out and does such a situation damage the vehicle in any way
Hi Jerry, I have a long range ZS with a range of 270 miles. After some charging (2.3, 7.3 and 50k) over several weeks, I used a 50k charger that when completed indicated my car now was at 80%. When I switched on the car the range indicated 80% but only 160 miles. I moved the 80% to 100% and used a 7.3kw, to top up. This completed to show 100% but only 196 miles - What happened to the other 74 miles please? Many thnaks John
Jerry is great, your videos are highly meaningful compared to others’. I have one question. Headlight of MG ZS Ev is a bit dim, giving problem in the night time where no street light is available. Do you suggest me to replace it by other normal light ?Or you give me some clue which makes the head light more powerful?
Hi Jerry. Just got my ZS EV 2023 (Long Range) yesterday. ı went straight to a DC charger, and while charging, i wanted the Air Condition ON so i pushed the start button to get get the Air Condition ON. I charged for 45 minutes without any problem (to 90 percent). But when I unplugged the cable and tried to start the vehicle I got "HV Battery Shutoff” & “Vehicle Control System Fault" error and the car refused to start. I got out of the car, locked the doors waited for 1 minute unlocked, tried again and it was all fine. When I got back to my house i plugged 11KW home charger, and did the same starting thing like i did with DC charger and when i unplugged it, got the same error. So my question is it not normal to try to get the car on while AC or DC charging? I could not find any answer to this on internet. THANKS :D
It might be the vehicle was resetting itself after charging. I have had it after charging it too. Best way to do it, switch it completely off before plug in the charger. After the charging starts, switch it on for air con or music. Switch the car off before you unlock the charger.
Hi Jerry, I have an MG ZS EV long range. The charger light you pointed to at 1:50 would not get off blue last night. Any idea what could be wrong? The charger port door was pulled off by a vandal and I have a new one scheduled for fitting in a couple of weeks.
Thanks Jerry Great Video I have a question about the app. I am in Sydney and my app does no have the arrow underneath the charge battery indicator? That is when you go to the target battery level in charging management it is always set on 100%. the app says it is the latest version too :( any ideas on how I could fix this?
Hi Gerry I have a 2023 MG ZS long range ime a taxi driver so do a bit of mileage is it ok to charge to 100 percent all the time as I sometimes need the extra miles thanks.
Thanks for the video Jerry! A*** One question, we have our trickle charger connected to an extension cord so it can reach our EV when charging outside. Is this ok to do? Ive heard from others that it is not recommended. Thanks! :)
Thanks Jerry. Can I ask a question. In the Charge to Percentage chapter where you move the bar from between 80% to 100%, is this only available in the Long Range and not available in the Short Range version? In the short range version, does that mean you only get "Charge to 100%" and that is all?
@@JerryPanandCarsif that’s the case, will it be bad for the battery to always charge to 100%? How can I have the car automatically stop charging if there is no option to charge to percentage?
I did 7 back to back DC fast charging before using the slow 7.2kw AC charging. The range at 100% has dropped from 400 to 398. Some folks say thats not degradation. What exactly is it then? One owner I know got it back to 400 from 396. My odo is 8600km and 8 months old
After continuous DC charge, the vehicle will kick in its battery management system. It basically means it won’t charge to “real” 100%. You will need to do AC charge to equalise the battery. Do more AC circles.
I am from Kathmandu, Nepal. My vehicle (MG, ZS Ev) could not be charged, only appears blue color, not green. It says ‘connected, but not charging’. Please tell me what to do?
On my ZS, when I plug it in for charging, it doesn't automatically start charging. I have to use my app or do it manually from inside the vehicle. Can you please tell me why that's happening?
1. Stop the car, as in turn it off. 2. Lock the car - it won't begin charging until the car is locked. This also engages a lock in the car's charging socket to prevent the lead being partially or fully disconnected. When finished charging, remember to unlock the car before removing the charging lead, since the effort required to remove a locked lead is quite significant... and you'll look like a goose yanking on the lead until you remember to unlock the car first... ! :D

Hi can u please make more videos about mg zs ev how to use more function in side the car
It’s on the channel. Just search ZS EV or check my playlist on this channel.
Cheers Jerry, as a new ZS EV owner in the UK your videos have been very helpful. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate that! Thanks
Thank you. Really useful video
This is so helpful! Thank you for breaking it down, it's much easier to follow.

It's fine. It's like unplug the charger from your iphone. It stops the charging session and that's it.

The new one has LED and I believe they are quite good compared to standard halogen ones. I wouldn’t recommend changing headlights myself.

No idea

Does the long range cone with a 10a 2.4kw hine charger, because our Standard one onky had a 8a 1.8kw charger supplied
Very well presented. Look forward to your V2L video soon.

Useful video. Thanks.

For standard range 50kWh version, charge to percentage function is not available. This is only available for long range ZS EV.

You can. Yes.

1. Might be a faulty charger or charge cable. 2. Disable scheduled charging mentioned in the video. Otherwise see your dealership.
Thank you Jerry

my mg5 station wagon dont want to schedule charge, is it because its not at home? im using a public charging station 😢
It should do scheduled charge. You need to set it up before charging the vehicle.
Does the Australian excite has 11kw charging?
yes, same car as NZ version.
Is that the long range one
Yes.
Why there is no ismart MG app in Nepal ?
I don't know. Please refer to local MG distributor.
