    Thanks Jerry. It’s great to have an audiovisual presentation of so many things that the manual doesn’t include (and if it does it often manages to hide it). Your revelation of the variable AC current inputs is a game changer for those with a 7kw charger and solar panels. If the sun is not optimal or more appliances are being used, it’s great to have a charging option midway between trickle and 7kw.

    Thanks Jerry! We've had a 64kWh Essence for 16 days now, and have put around 1,800km on it. It's good to have you confirm that we are doing things right. We have a 16A caravan outlet in our garage, and use a portable charger set at 16A - it puts 3.5kW into the car. It is always back up to 80% by the time we need to use the car in the morning. This car is simply superb to drive. 😀

      Great comment Adrian. I have a couple of 15amp outlets under my carport which share the same circuit breaker as several indoor 10amp outlets and I've wondered weather 1. the circuit breaker will suffice if I purchase a 15amp mobile charger. and 2. weather the cable to the 15amp outlets is good enough? Any advice?

    • @adrianlane6736
      @adrianlane6736 Год назад +1

      In all honesty, I would get the advice of an electrician. I used one to install the 16A outlet on an existing 20A supply. He issued a code of compliance certificate for it, which means I won't be in trouble if anything goes wrong with the wiring etc.

I do it by shutting down car. Locking then unlocking poping open the chqrge port. Plugging in and then it has to be turned on atthe socket specifically before it locks the plug in. 1. This seems stupid. It doesnt work plugging in already switched on. Also i have tried lots of ways to try and charge at instavolt chargers and it doesnt work. I need to figure out how to charge at puboic chargepoints. Nothing works. If it does turn green its literallt for 20 seconds then turns off.

    • @JerryPanandCars
      @JerryPanandCars  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment. No MG recommendation on this. Some recommends that you leave the car between 40% to 80%. Not too low but not fully charged either. It will drain the HV battery but very very slowly. Maybe like 1% in one month of something. The 12v battery can still go flat like ICE cars. If you need to go away longer than months, disconnect the 12v battery is always a good idea.

      @JerryPanandCars  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the comment. Do you mean Tesla superchargers? I believe no adapter is needed. As long as that CCS charger is open for all other brands, you should be able to plug in and charge. That is at least the case for New Zealand.

    Thanks so much for the video Jerry! I have a 51kw MG 4. When i charge 100% with AC on, the estimated range on the headunit shows ~370km. But with AC off the range is ~440km. Is this normal? Will software issue solve this problem (currently the version is R08)?

      It depends on the model, ie the battery. The lowest spec model with the LFP battery can be charged to 100% all the time. The other models with the NMC battery can be charged to 100%, but for battery longevity they recommend charging to 80% on most occasions.

      Yep, I actually found that today when connecting to the iSmart App on one 51 Excite. Could you do a test and see if it actually stops at let’s say 80%? Otherwise I will do a test next week. It’s certainly not available from the screen.

    My MG4SE charges from 5% to 95% in around 5 hours at 7kw so I don’t know where you get your figures from also my granny charger charged it to 100% overnight around about12 hours

    • @JerryPanandCars
      @JerryPanandCars  9 месяцев назад +1

      Science tells me that’s not correct. 51 kWh battery’s 90% is 45.9kwh, 7kw charger offers 6.6kw of charging speed to the MG4. In the most realistic world, it will take more than 6 hours.
      The granny charger literally offers around 1.5kw most of the time, how is 12 hours charging possible if you go from 5%?
