  • The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART is an awesome lens for APS-C cameras. In this video I test its image quality and show a lot of sample pictures and videos.

      Art lenses are the best image quality lenses that Sigma offer.
      So you should be getting that, if you have the money for it.

    great review! thanks! So in conclusion, it's good to use normally f2 and the f1.4 when we really want the blurry background or great low light conditions

      Exactly

      f/2 is plenty of blur for portraits and it keeps things sharper than f/1.4 and a bit sharper than f/1.8

      I only used the center AF point so the camera at least tried to focus on the house I wanted it to focus on. I specifically calibrated the lens for this camera and usually it has a very accurate focusing. I just now checked the original picture of 1.4. I find it pretty hard to determine whether the focus is on the house in the front or not, since nothing on the whole picture is really sharp. But maybe I'll try to get the same picture again and check it.

    nice video.
    its weird to see that at 1.4 the image quality is not good.
    most people say that it is razer sharp at wide open.
    actually, i think that that was the selling point.
    Is it possible that this has to do only with you copy, or have you heard the same rumor from other photographers?
    I was seriously considering buying this lens.

    • @videodslrtutorial
      @videodslrtutorial  7 лет назад

      It's pretty normal that lenses are not razer sharp wide open.
      Whether my copie is worse than the average...maybe, but I doubt so.

    Good job!
    I have 2 walking around lenses, they are both Pancake lenses! Haha. The 24mm and 40mm. They allow me to keep my camera in my backpack without a big case. It has def. made my photography a lot better because I actually carry my camera around a lot more! They might not be the best lenses, but having a camera with me vs not having one is definitely better :) Also, these lenses are so cute and compact! haha.

      KentSpain85 im confused of buying sigma 30mm 1.4 dc art heard some focusing issue on canon dslr is 24mm 2.8 stm worth buying? Is the sharpness satisfying?

    • @0000maxx0000
      @0000maxx0000 5 лет назад

      @@genysys1511 Canon 24mm f/2.8 STM is a no brainer: compact, cheap, fast AF (STM is not as fast as USM, but surely not slow!) and sharp even at f/2.8. You can check sites like opticallimits and imaging resource, it does a great job even when compared with much more expensive lenses! If 24mm and f/2.8 are good for you, you don't need to spend more money...just my 2 cents.

    Do you always use the hood with this lens when filming inside?

    • @videodslrtutorial
      @videodslrtutorial  7 лет назад

      Depends on the situation. When I have to be super quick or have the lenses in bags on my belt I often take them off so that the lens is smaller. If I have the time I usually keep them on.

    Has Sigma solved the problem of chromatic aberrations (purple fringes) with this objective ?

    • @videodslrtutorial
      @videodslrtutorial  6 лет назад

      It can quite strong at f/2. Starting from f/4 it's a lot better. Still usuable at f/2. When I take raw pictures I can easily erase it in Lightroom. A bit more tricky with videos.

    • @maxysurvivorsucks

      I just got this lens and tested it. It's actually around 1 meter for head and shoulders to be on the frame. At around 2 meters, you get all the way down to the waist on the frame.

  • @HiTechSolutions2010
    @HiTechSolutions2010 Год назад

    Hi, I´m sorry but when doing an image quality test, taking an image from a long distance at f1.4 will always give you a blurry image....DUH!!! How is this even an option in a test? This is why lenses have f stops.... Everytime I see a review of someone doing a test of this sort, using a fast lens at it´s fastest setting at long distance, one thing comes to mind.....Don´t give up your day job.
