  • This Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART lens is very attractive for many reasons. The 30mm focal length is very versatile: it's wide enough to get the bigger picture, but zoomed-in enough to give you a good separation between your subject and the background. But the main attraction to this lens is its very fast f/1.4 maximum aperture. That means this lens lets in a very impressive amount of light, up to 8 times more than a standard kit lens does at 30mm. So it can be a lot of fun to use at nighttime, or in any darker situation. That very wide maximum aperture can also give you a very out of focus background, which opens up all kinds of creative possibilities, and gives your pictures a nice sense of depth.

      Justin Kim Hi Justin, Christopher does do some of our reviews, we have quite a few lenses to be exclusively reviewed on Cafetography via other reviewers so keep an eye on our channel. Thanks, Martin

    nice review as always. i own a 70D and I'm confused between the 30 and 35mm. I may upgrade ton a full-frame in the future, so what is the disadvantage about using the 30mm on a full-frame camera? and is the 35mm worth the extra expense? THANKS :] Cafetography

    But it is very different physically then the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E. Also very high optic quality.

    Is it worth the upgrade from the Nikon 35mm 1.8G? Thanks in advance.

      I'm not too sure, but I think a comparison would make for a good review. I will add it to the list.

    Hi!
    Sry, my english is not so good.
    I have a question: Sigma 30mm ART or EF-S 18-135mm F3,5-5,6 IS STM or Sigma 50mm F1,4 EX DG HSM? What do you think?
    Don't care the photography, jsut the DSLR video. My Camera is a Canon 600D.
    I hope, u can help me :).

      Hi, firstly I think you need to decide whether you want the 50mm or the 30mm focal length.
      Also, I found that I had a few issues with the Sigma 50mm F1,4 EX DG HSM. So, I would go for the new lenses in any case, the ART range of lenses are very good indeed!!

    Would this be good for Vlogs/ filming my adventures with my friends? I know it doesnt have Image stabilization. Would that be a big let down for filming?

    what lens did you use for filming the presented lens?

    • @Cafetography
      @Cafetography  9 лет назад

      I think it was filmed using a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, set to 35mm I think. We also have a review on that lens, it can be found here: ruclips.net/video/kw8WpHB5ynI/видео.html

    is this 30 mm lens close to a 48 mm lens on an aps-c camera? I have a canon 600D and I'm looking for a sigma 50mm f .4 lens

    • @Cafetography
      @Cafetography  8 лет назад +1

      +Shivazi Sadhak yes that's right for the 30mm, the Sigma 50mm will be equivalent to 80mm.

    Is this faster that the sigma 20mm f/1.4 Art lens which was released recently this year.
    I want to put this or the 20mm on a canon crop sensor camera. Possibly a 70d or 80d.
    How well would either work..?
    Many thnaks for a concise video.

    • @Cafetography
      @Cafetography  8 лет назад

      They both have the same aperture of f/1.4 and therefore they're as fast as each other. Putting the 20mm on a cropped sensor will give you an angle of view equivalent to a 32mm which would work well for video work. Many thanks, Martin

      Cafetography many thanks for your reply. I was interested in buying a prime lens. The Sigma f/1.4 20mm seems the one for me as I have a crop sensor camera ( canon 70d ). And it is close enough to 35mm on my Canon as well as being extremely bright enough for indoor work.
      Great video by the way!
      Thanks again.

    The chromatic aberration would be worse at night. And the lacks of IS would make it bad for filming.
    As this is the cheapest high ap lens, this is disappointing as I need to shoot at night.

    sigma has chromatic aberation on most of it's lens and fringing...i don t recomend sigma lenses for photo, only good for video.
