Mac Mini + Ipad Pro + Samsung S20 FE here. thanks sharing your experience! Some of your solutions are very alike mine but your video still gave me some insights!
Quick tip on file transfer. I use the opposite setup (iPhone and windows laptop) and I’ve found that the drop feature on the Edge browser works really well. It is a few extra steps but it’s the only tool that I’ve found being reliable. I should also mention that it’s not ideal for large files.
I felt the same way about Microsoft with regards to security (at least at an enterprise level; Windows and Office have always been all over the place) but their security incidents over the past couple of years, as well as the incredibly thoughtless introduction of their Recall feature as part of their Copilot+ launch, have made me reconsider that, even with them seemingly now prioritizing security as a result of all that's happened.
Tbh you're right to be wary, but imo, all companies have a level of risk for security and I just associate the least amount of risk with Microsoft's password manager / authentication service compared the others.
I agree, I prefer my hybrid setup of the Macbook Pro M1 Pro and the Samsung S24 Ultra, especially being a full-time full-stack and ios developer, it balances everything nicely, as for app deployment, I just use a company-provided iPad, love just not being locked into an ecosystem, everything works well and doesn't get in the way of each other. As for file transfer, I am a unique scenario where I do self-host a decent amount of my own services, and I use a self-hosted instance of Snapdrop to drag and drop stuff across devices, just works well.
Is it necessary to have an iPhone or an iPad to code for iOS? I have the Mac and the iPhone, I want to learn to code for iOS, but I hate the iPhone, I want to change it for an Android haha.
@sky3k_ sadly it's best to keep both devices as a whole , because you need to develop natively on an iPhone to discover any possible real-life flaws in iOS Development, the simulator alone is not enough
Bluetooth File Exchange is a fine enough file transfer tool … you can go from Android to Mac or Mac to Android and as long as the setting is checked, it’ll work always. It’s not fast, but it works
Amazing. It was this video I was looking for. I have the same case: Samsung phone and Macbook Pro. My biggest issue is to transfer big files (videos) from S23 Ultra to Macbook. I didnt know Google Photos was available as an app to download into macbook. I think this will be my solution. Thanks a lot
It's actually just the stock One UI launcher with different icons! The icons are based off "Icon pack black and white" from Icon Pack Studio. I just tuned the transparency and colors a bit :) Will be a making a video very soon about my entire phone setup so stay tuned if you're interested!
Kde connect works perfectly with my android and Ubuntu laptop for clipboard sync, as long as the wifi network doesn't block the connection. I think you should give it a shot with mac os I think it should work
same, I am using a Samsung phone and MacBook, my default Brower is also edge. I use drop option in edge for document sharing, and upload from phone option when required to submit on any website
For the link sharing thing, i usually just open the link on another tab on any of my devices and use the history bar to open it again on others devices. Not as fast at sync clipboard but it gets the job done since i have to open up the browser to paste the link in anyway
you're right about kde connect being too bad looking to use and there's a fork of it for macos called soduto and i use it to sync clipboard and share files between my android and macbook. it just lives in the menu bar and if you want to share files, there's a file sharing extension in the finder
I do something similar with my odd combo of devices. I've got both an iPhone and Pixel for phones and then a Macbook and Linux PC for my computing so these cross platform tools are super useful to me.
I don't know how it is on Mac but KDE Connect on Linux is great. Easy file sharing, media controls, clipboard sync, notification sync (will even mute everything when you receive a call) and stay out of the way. I don't know if the Mac implementation is solid but you should give it a try.
I liked this video. I hope other people would adopt these good habits. Unfortunately, most users never use anything but the default. I weep for humanity.
I don't know if this works for Samsung, but on my Pixel 7, I can use my phone as a webcam (in my Mac) with a USB connection. I'm using my phone as a camera in my office since I didn't want to buy another webcam. I also added a Magsafe adapter to my case, allowing me to use many Magsafe adaptors to hang my phone on top of my monitor in a convenient/efficient way.
I would really love to see a Windows + iPhone version of this if possible as I'm always so jealous seeing others use ecosystem features with their MacBooks while I can't through my Windows PC.
Cool video. I'm in kind of the opposite position right now - iPhone with a Windows PC. I have a MacBook as well and frankly prefer macOS over Windows, but it's more of an occasional use device I share with my partner these days. I mainly still use Apple ecosystem stuff, but supplement as needed with other services - a dash of Google stuff here and there to fill in the gaps, really. I'd say it gets me like 85% of the way there, compared to just living fully "in-ecosystem". Totally workable, but I do find myself grumbling here and there about random inconvenient edge cases.
Ey. I do the same! Mac mini M2 and S24+. Easy, I don't need that "ecosystem" scam. I even have a Linux server and it works with both. Even more I have a Windows custom build and it still works with all of them.
my daily driver phone is samsung, my laptop is macbook and i use ipad too...its more than enough for my daily need...thanks for sharing, happy to know i'm not alone 😂

I use KDE connect to transfer photos and files from the S22 Ultra to aMacBook Pro M2 max and viceversa. I synced Samsung calendar and apple calendar with google calendar, so when I add or edit events in either calendar it will show in the other ones. The only reason to do this is to feel the calendar native experience while using the S22 or the macbook, it's not really necessary, you could go with Google Calendar only; this was only a personal choice. I mostly manage my notes in the S22 with samsung notes, in case I need a note synced in both devices I use OneNote. And for messages I use Google Messages and Whatsapp. I don't see myself switching to iphone any time soon.
Heck ya, say no to " ecosystem," which I need to sell my organs to afford. I have a Windows laptop, a galaxy tab s9+, and an iphone. Just use reliable third-party apps from google, microsoft,... and everything will all be synced
This is similar to my setup but I have a Windows laptop (HP Dragonfly G4, I almost got a MacBook Air but this was on sale) - but I have an iPad and use a mishmash of cross platform apps and love it :)
6:38 Using the phone as a wired webcam is officially supported in the Android AOSP version. It appears as an option in the USB connection menu on devices whose manufacturers have implemented it.

I don't know how it is on Mac but KDE Connect on Linux is great. Easy file sharing, media controls, clipboard sync, notification sync (will even mute everything when you receive a call) and stay out of the way. I don't know if the Mac implementation is solid but you should give it a try.
Great Video, a ray of sunshine in the walled garden of Apple. Give me some hope to switch to this setup.
I liked this video. I hope other people would adopt these good habits. Unfortunately, most users never use anything but the default. I weep for humanity.
Unrelated to the video, but your icon pack on s24 looks amazing. Which one are you using?
Check out my newest video on this :) I go over my whole setup
Most needed video!!
✌️✌️
Thanks for this video! I'm literally in this situation right now. Just need to know how I can use Airpods and Airtages effectively with my Galaxy.
Your phone theme is awesome! What icon pack or theme do you have installed?
My latest video covers this :) check it out
thank you for this video, made me more confident to keep using android phones and stay-off Apple ecosystem for now
how about iphones and windows laptop? i know it might sounds very common but im looking for some ideas on how to maximize the features
I would really love to see a Windows + iPhone version of this if possible as I'm always so jealous seeing others use ecosystem features with their MacBooks while I can't through my Windows PC.
hey, I really like your phone set up. how you make the phone theme looks like that?
Great video 👍🏽
I would like to know which theme you have applied on your samsung? It caught my eye.!!
Excuse me sir, where did you get your samsung theme? it beautiful! I need that
This was really helpful . thank you
If you had to add a tab to this, primarily for technical reading, which on would it be? Apple or Samsung?
I use edge because of the "Drop" feature, which allows you to share files, images, text from one device to another that has the edge browser
What icon pack are you using bro?
I think it’s based on the nothing phone company’s ui u can look it up
It's based off "Icon pack black and white" from Icon Pack Studio. I just tuned the transparency and colors a bit :)
Will be a making a video very soon about my phone setup so stay tuned if you're interestedn
@@hoyoungwon ohh ok, good to know :)
@@hoyoungwonYes
Great video and some great ideas as I'm also a Mac user with an android phone
Shame it's not possible to get the apple watch to link up also
Great video, I have the same pair
Hello, may I know what icons are you using to your S24+? Thank you!
great work!
Great video, thanks!
Hey! What theme is that running on your S24? I'd love to use that
Heck ya, say no to " ecosystem," which I need to sell my organs to afford. I have a Windows laptop, a galaxy tab s9+, and an iphone. Just use reliable third-party apps from google, microsoft,... and everything will all be synced
Just the video that i wanted 🤩
Thanks for watching ☺️
Same here, using mac air m2 / with S24 as a daily driver. Cannot escape Samsung's domestic services XD. 같은 셋업이라 반갑네요!
Nice~
ㅇㅈ 삼성페이+EZL 없이는 못살것 같네요 🥲
This is similar to my setup but I have a Windows laptop (HP Dragonfly G4, I almost got a MacBook Air but this was on sale) - but I have an iPad and use a mishmash of cross platform apps and love it :)
6:38 Using the phone as a wired webcam is officially supported in the Android AOSP version. It appears as an option in the USB connection menu on devices whose manufacturers have implemented it.
making use of google instead of apple services makes this system work well. Very interesting 🤔
Great video. Which is that icon pack?
please do a reverse video, Windows + iphone 😂
I feel like that would work less well
@@andreasm5770 My phone is Pixel (android), Tab (ipad 10th gen), Laptop windows 11 acer.. still don’t find much hustle.. using all normally, if want to transfer files & photos either using google drive, photos, xender, shareme, telegram etc.. all works well connected to internet…
