Wolverine's first appearance in Hulk 180 is great. Hulk and Wendigo are going at it in the woods, and then Wolverine just pops out of the bushes like "FITE ME"! 😆
i love barry allen's first appearance, it like a movie, carmine infantino's art is just so good
Ok this may finally be the video to convince me to buy a Jonah Hex book. I'm a very casual comic book fan, so I never really understood who Jonah Hex was (I still don't know how he fits into the DC universe), but I think you did a good job advertising him as a character. Gonna order the No Way Back hardcover on amazon coz I've had that in my 'save for later' for ages lol
No Way Back is amazing! The collection I mentioned in the video is a great way to read the older stories and Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti had a fantastic modern run on the character that went on for a while.
Even though it's from 1986 mine would defiantly have to be Boosters first appearance. Shows everything that you need to show to learn about Michael without even delving into his backstory and I love how Jurgens showed his character in the issue before going into his abilities which comes later when fighting blackguard. Its just a great first appearance issue that sets up his character really well, his abilities\weapons really well and best it establishes his great relationship with skeets fantastically
blue beetle
Great video man. Love Hex’s first appearance. I gotta go with Spidey’s first appearance as my favorite. I remember as a kid seeing his costume for the first time and thinking he was awesome and I wanted to find out more about him and I read his origin at the library and it did not disappoint. I really felt Peter’s struggle trying to fit in at school, learning to become a hero, and ofc his uncle Ben dying. And ofc there was great power great responsibility which was the icing on the cake for me. I loved it and when I saw the first Raimi Spider-Man movie, it blew my mind that they used his origin and I loved Spider-Man ever since
My favorite is the first appearance of iron fist, He had such a bad ass costume and Powers
Hex is such a good character but a lot of people just don’t know how to write him this issue is great tho makes me wanna pick it up
Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti had very long run on the character that was fantastic. Definitely check that out if you're looking for something more modern.
Grant Morrison had the best 1st Appearance 😎
Honestly gonna pick up that Weird Western Tale book you suggested. I've read all of All Star Western New 52 and loved it all!
You got me interested in reading Jonah Hex. I'm gonna try to see if I can find any copies of that book you recommend somewhere where I live.
Kevin Feige in X-Men #21 by Jonathan Hickman.
Banger video as always
Thanks!
Great idea for a video, great execution
Thanks!
My favorite hero from the olden days would have to be booster gold
Great video! I have two answers, both from the Golden Age: Captain Marvel in Whiz Comics #2 and Wildcat in Sensation Comics #1! I especially love how little Cap's origin story changed over the years (at least prior to the New 52), showing why the wizard Shazam chose him and all. And it also served as the debut of his archenemy, Doctor Sivana! Really great stuff! Wildcat also has a great origin, with perfect motivation to clear his name, and really establishes him as a no-nonsense everyman! He may be my favorite of the non-powered heroes, he just works so well that way. Sad thing is, I don't think his Golden Age adventures have EVER been reprinted, when is DC going to get on that!?
EDIT: Also, if you can include villains, that very first Joker story from Batman #1 is freaking gold!
Jonah Hex is definitely a character I plan to get into. And his first appearance sounds great.
On a side note, I think Batman's first appearance is a bit overrated considering it's just plagiarism (not just "inspiration") from a Shadow story called Partners of Peril
I can’t narrow it down to just one but I think the best first appearances are ones with narrative structure I love Fantastic Four #1 cause it introduces the characters and their powers in fun ways then the origin of the teams powers then the central conflict of the book on monster island and the confrontation with the Moleman. Iron Fist is another of my favorites your getting a great action scene to set up Danny’s skills and his origin as well. Luke Cage also has this where you feel for his plight being in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. You also get his origin and the direction the series is gonna go in. I could go on and on I love reading first appearances I’ll have to seek out Jonah Hex’s now thanks for sharing it!
Dang. Kinda fitting you mention a classic collected edition at the end cause rumor is that DC is shutting down publishing any pre-1995 era collections.
:'(
Excellent video! I recommend Jonah Hex,Two Gun Mojo by Joe R Lonsdale,Tim Truman and Sam Glanzman! My favorite character is Orion in New Gods 1 from 1970 by Jack King 👑 Kirby!
seeing the scans of pages really shows off how freaking terrible the digital recolors are because they got rid of all the shading and texture.
I recommend a manga called Berserk it’s first arc is very similar to that first Jonah Hex issue.
rdr2 is an awesome game if you like westerns in general, the main character arthur morgan is also pretty badass, not like hex, but still badass. really recommend you play it
I've played it and yeah it's a great game.
Ok.
First
Somebody explain the obsession with first appearances to me. I mean the first movies are barely watchable these days, the first music ever couldn't be recorded and was probably done exclusively by a bunch of monkeys and the first car ever didn't even have seats. Just coming first doesn't say much in the long run, cause there's such a thing as impressive through history.
People want to learn the history of things, like when they first appeared, it’s intriguing
i would take you seriously if you said anything, ANYTHING other than “obsession”
@@hollowayJunior how would you call the first appearance issues selling for mad amounts of money?
