To add to that There was a time in the 2002 spider man move or maybe one of its sequels, where she actually cheats on him with someone, Twice. Or maybe cheats on someone else with him. Either way she a cheating bitch too and a hyprocrit cuz when Peter kissed Gwen in that one movie (forgot which one) all of a sudden mj was a crying bitch and at that point in time she had BROKEN UP with him so actually he wasn't even cheating. She toxic as hell can't believe I grew up thinking she was an OK person. Man I was a dumb ass kid.
Yall gotta understand. The only reason why amber was "better" in season 2 was because the fans hated her so much that the creators had to change her character
@darkshadowx803I haven't seen a single comment like that. But surely those people cant be pleased. I absolutely strongly hated her in S1 but she's really thoughtful and understanding (to say the least) in S2 that I didn't expect at all
They ruined their character beyond repair in season 1. Even if she was better in season 2, the damage was done and the lines were crossed. Was happy to see her and mark finally break up.
What's more annoying to me than these love interest is that Hero's always had someone better than them around who genuinely cared for them but the Hero's always choses to ignore them and go for the absolute worst.
Isn't that true in real life too? When your friends tell you to dump that girl and be with someone who's "good for you". Except you can't, because your heart tells you something else.
@@suonatar1 That's true. I have seen this by some of my friends and other peopule I know with such kind of mather they have a Girl-Friend/Boy-Friend who is similar toxic like MJ and I have never understand them no mather how much it happened to them they still going out with them. It's give me a headache.
Growing up watching superhero movies as a girl was understnading exactly how toxic most of these love interests are written and how wildly out of character they sound to a grown woman. If my man can bench press trains and regularly fights crime lords at night...am i going to worry? Yes. Would I maybe prefer he had a different occupation? Sure. Am i going to cobstantly gaslight him over minor petty things, cheat on him at the first opportunity no matter how random, berate him for missing my yoga classes while he saves 6 kids from getting crushed by a falling building, and insist that i, too, can tank his superhuman mutated enemies with my tiny chicken arms? No. Now granted, i would wsnt to be filled in on his cureent enemies and their known weaknesses and i wiuld probably want a gun, but that's for the inevitable showdown where they come and kidnap me to get at the hero.
Then you lady are what in the field we call "a sane woman" For some reason, comic book writers treat your kind like it's kryptonite and keep you as far away from their superheroes as possible.
I still remember me and my cousin watching the first Spider-Man movie and staying up one night to roast the crap outta Mary Jane because we both hated her character. We were like 10 year olds 😭✨
The worst part about this kind of love interests is that, when they're saying the stupidest and most unreasonable shit and their partner is like 'wtf is wrong with u', they act like it's the other way around
When the love interest becomes nothing more than a hinderance on a hero then she is a problem. Peter stopped being spiderman cause of her, Iris constantly interjects herself into Barry’s role as the flash, Amber “knew” and still complained about it as if trust was the problem to begin with. And they tried to bury it as if we didn’t notice. What i appreciated about DC in general is how the love interests inspire them to be heroes. Peter did it for his uncle ben, not for MJ. Mark did it for his dad. Barry did it to help people but also because of his dad.
I fucking hate that “we are The Flash” shit. Like, no? From the very beginning, Iris interjected herself into The Flash, when she didn’t even know who the Flash was! Every single person in her life was telling her to knock that shit off: Joe, Barry, her fucking FIANCÉ, even The Flash himself-a complete stranger to Iris at this point), and she just kept doing it, because “Barry needs hope.” Bitch, he also needs you alive (for some reason)! Even after she was kidnapped and almost KILLED, she continued to keep her head up her ass and put herself in harm’s way, when all she had was boxing lessons she learned as a child, and a phone.
@@mayotango1317 Yep back in the pre-one more day time period she really went downhill from there yeah right now they got this spinoff that has Peter and MJ together but that's just a bandaging attempt.
Mary Jane is super annoying in the Insomniac games. “I might not have super powers but I’m not made of glass” in a world where Rhino, Electro, Sable, and Martin Li exist, not giving superpowers might as well be the same as being made of glass. But Peter is the bad guy for wanting to keep her out of harm’s way?
@@michaeliv284To be fair, she didn't have much of a choice. Peter kinda brought them, it's not like she actively seeked them out like in Tombstone and Sable's cribs.
And she inspired him too. She was his support as are many other love interests. I loved rachel in the first cause she was a lawyer and she kept him down to earth. Laurel strengthened his resolve to honor his father and save his city. Lois Lane inspired clark to be a hero instead of hiding.
If there’s one love interest who ABSOLUTELY deserves to go as hard as they do on their relationship it’s Betty Ross, she stuck it out for Bruce for so long and tried so hard but she’s legit been tortured, killed, kidnapped on a regular basis, abused, and left alone and has to calm down and protect the Hulk, and Bruce is so caught up in his own shit that he can’t help but neglect Betty, it took her being turned into the Red She-Hulk just so she could voice and assert herself in Bruce’s life
Plus if there was someone toxic in the relationship, it was Bruce. He actually took her on vacation once to a radioactive hotspot with the intent to recreate The Hulk, rather than spend time with her
@@michaeliv284 and that’s a whole other thing I didn’t mention either, like we think Reed Richards prioritizes his work over Sue Storm Richards but in reality it’s not nearly as bad as how Bruce chooses his work and experiments on the Hulk over Betty almost All of the Time and because he is the Hulk when Betty brings it up he does blow up and get angry
Season 4 Iris was genuinely painful. Especially during that couples therapy when he said "How could you leave me?" to Barry while knowing he HAD to go into the speed force to stabilize it.
And Barry couldn't even defend himself without revealing who he is to the therapist. She made it sound like he left her to go on a vacation or something.
Worst case is when Peter’s trying to understand how she feels about getting hate "This isn’t about you, this is about me” Seconds later “Try to understand how I feel”
Its true, they've never really depicted MJ right anywhere outside the comics. Meanwhile over the years, dead Gwen Stacy has grown into a more relevant and drawn out character thru variant versions.
As a girl myself I was always disturbed seeing the hero leads pick girls like that. It's not because I'm like a pick-me or anything like that, but genuinely it sets a bad precedence for young impressionable dudes, that the girl who is self-centered and needs to be 'chased' is the best option, when there are often other girls and women in the franchises who would actually make for a much better partner for the protagonist. Like SERIOUSLY, what kind of guy puts up with a cheater like MJ????? It's not cute at all
That is why Supes can only date other Supes, cuz the argument become less about "You're not paying attention to me" to "Damn we can't find time to just fucking chill"
@@wingsoffreedom3589not necessarily, a superhero can date a normal person if they choose, dating another superhero doesn’t automatically mean the relationship will work out
@@Mayan_88694 1. He never said otherwise. 2. No they can't date a normal person, it's not just about not having the time it's also putting them in blatant danger just being with them, stop tryna start shit for no reason
Raimi's MJ may have been a menace in the first two films. - Cheating on harry to kiss Spider-Man - leaving space boy at the alter However, for Spider-Man 3, her reasons to be upset with Peter are pretty justifiable. People critisize MJ for getting upset with Peter when he trys to comfort her about her critics. Peter: "Spider-Man deals with-" Mj: "This isn't about you." I think anyone who is trying to vent about some harsh criticisms they recieved at work, doesn’t want to hear their partner immediately comparing it to themselves and how'd they handle it. Also, Peter literally cheats on MJ in front of thoyusands of people by kissing Qwen stacy. I feel like people forget this?
My upset with MJ is practically only 1 and 2. 3, peter was in fact being an asshole - but you could make an argument that if she can snog whoever she wants during any relationship and she can share "their" kiss with space boy in 2, why is it so wrong for him to share "their" kiss with Gwen? It's a devils advocate argument in that I am not using it as a serious out to the issue but I am making a reasonable point that she is still a hypocrite. I do agree with you entirely on the justifiable "this isn't about you" thing, though.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Spidey asked her for a kiss on the cheek and she proceeded to French him with his mask on. Also, I get what you’re saying about venting, but it’s not like he was trying to be self-centered. He was just trying to relate
Yeah Iris saying we are the Flash is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard lol. But honestly at the end of the day all of these things ultimately come down to the writers
In their defense, people like those mentioned in the video are very prevalent in the dating scene. Especially nowadays when a good portion of people could give two shits less of whatever you’re going through if you don’t pay attention to them. Talking from experience.
How would my superhero deal with this love interest next time their kidnapped? "Bitch, you said you don't need me. Go ahead and save yourself. FYI, that robot can crush skulls like grapes so good luck with that."
Funny, if I had a superhero in that scenario, it would be like: "You know what? Deal with that hulking lava villain yourself with, I dunno, journaling how scary he is. Since I'm beat, an huntress heroine is taking me out on a date, and she understands where I can actually get some sleep without worrying.
To this day i stand by the fact amber knowing before hand was a dumb last minute change cause it literally doesn't make any sense that she would know and just makes her look dumb af
I'm pretty sure in the comic she didn't know but when she found out it was too stressful for her or something and they broke up, which literally fixes almost all the character's issues. Imo they decided to change it to make Amber actually look smarter (*wow, she figured it out on her own!!*) and like less of a damsel but it ended up just making her worse
@@stackingspaghettisauce4271 in the comics, Amber and Mark became a couple around the time Omniman leaves the planet, Mark was depressed, and for a period of time in College, Amber thought Mark was dealing drugs, when she learns that Mark is a hero, is very supportive, but it strains the relationship because Mark is busy saving everyone, but they try to make the relationship work, she almost cheats on him, but she doesn't, and then Mark and Amber talk it out and break the relationship...
I truly believe Amber was lying about knowing. I mean… it makes sense. She’s evidently a know-it-all. She is a bad person. I think this all makes her a better character, though. She’s an obstacle for Mark.
The thing is, amber could have left mark right away. She could have decided she didn't want to date a superhero. But she continued to date him and then got upset when the very forseeable superhero consequences happened.
You can't forget when Iris told Barry "Now we've both lost a parent." after Joe went into Witness Protection because a murderer was trying to kill him.
Ohhh how I fucking hate IRIS. Especially when Felicity was so much more understanding and a kinder human to her arrogant self. SHE should have died instead of hipster Wells
I agree that Mary Jane is pretty bad in the movies, comics and games but the TV shows are another matter. In spectacular spiderman we got the most chill and supportive MJ ever. The 90s animated series MJ was all so pretty good. No matter how much spiderman screwed up their relationship she always had faith in Peter and overcame her own fears to be with him.
@@abhinavkishoreprasad MJ and Peter pretty much had the perfect marriage for about 4 years... From Spiderman Annual 21 (The Wedding Issue) to Amazing Spider-man 263... The end of Carnage's debut arc... That's how I usually base their relationship...
Amber was definitely written terribly for "Invincible". No way she would be pissed about Mark not being there for her, and then talk about "Oh, I knew you were Invincible." And then say "You make me feel unimportant", and expect Mark to be like "Ah, you're right babe. Let me put saving the ENTIRE WORLD on pause, JUST for you" 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I think Amber would have been better written if she had been focusing on the fact that knowing Invincible is Mark and seeing him get hurt was hurting her too, the same way many people leave people for smoking and etc.
I feel like they wanted to come at the whole superhero reveal sideways, but they couldn't stick the landing what so ever. I get this sort of thing been done to death, but this just makes Amber look like a psycho who does nothing but gaslit Mark over and over to goad him into revealing the truth. Yes Season 2 makes her situation far more reasonable, but it's hard to overlook her behavior in season1.
I think the later part of the show highlighted the difference between the “normal” superhero romantic partners with Amber and Mark’s mom Debbie. I could write paragraphs but I think the stellar contrast would be comparing how Debbie reacted to being in a powerless situation with Angstorm vs how Amber was with a Viltrumite holding her neck. The latter never stopped making the whole thing about herself.
@darkshadowx803 Wokeness, she is the epitome of it. Even when she was going to break up with Mark the writers desperately tried to keep her a perfect(woke) character, her saying she was strong when she completely fell appart when one viltrumite threatened her life, a fact that was bound to happen, they still tried to play she was strong!
The biggest mememe I've ever seen is definitely Teela from masters of the universe revelations. She's furious at Adam for keeping a secret from her after he sacrificed his own life to safe the world, she also snapped at his parents for the same reason after their son just died and was still angry with him when she visited him in the after life. What a Karen.
Not only this, she was mouthing off to her dead friend’s parents who are also the *King and Queen* … like seriously lady, I know you wanna be the new She-Man but mouthing off at your monarchs is NOT the way to do it 😒😒😒
To make it even worse, her stance on it being so terrible that her friend would keep such a secret from her is seemingly justified completely by the show. But when Adam's dad, the king, is upset at his wife because she knew their son was He-man but never told him, he is the one who has to apologize for being upset at her over it because his anger is presented as being unreasonable.
Iris and Barry had ZERO chemistry throughout the whole show. It ALWAYS should have been Barry and Caitlin, they had the best chemistry together, it would have been a better message about love that it's OK to move on in both the extreme and mundane circumstances (Iris not liking Barry back and Caitlins husband being dead), AND the drama with her becoming killer frost would have been even BETTER. Huge L for the writers on the flash.
@@mrtoons282I'm fairly certain they only forced the Barry-Iris relationship because its the canonical Barry relationship in the comics. Even though they themselves made a plotline where Barry and Iris practically grew up like siblings since they were pre-teens.
I personally really liked Patty from S2 and I wish she stuck around for longer. Caitlyn could've worked I guess but on the other hand I like that there can just be a friendship between a man and a woman without there being romance involved at some point. Either way, Iris became insufferable in the later seasons. It was more her show more than the Flash, because if he wasn't actively fighting someone it was always "Iris is in danger", "Iris is the leader so do as she says", "Iris is going on about her reporter career again" (that no one cares about) or "Iris is complaining about Barry for being a superhero doing superhero things". Similar thing happened in Arrow with Felicity but they reeled it back by the end of the show.
Yep, me too. Almost cried and was shouting at the TV when she left. Never shipped Caitlin with barry but at Some point it got so annoying with iris that I started shipping them
Black cat from the 90's Spiderman cartoon is my favorite Spiderman love interest. She didn't care who was behind the mask she liked him for what he did, encouraged him to have fun while being a superhero and was never a burden. They had great chemistry.
In the more recent comics, after Mary Jane left Peter for Paul, Peter hooked up with Felicia. The two made an amazing power couple but they broke up because, get this they where too good together. I'm not even kidding, they broke up because their relationship was too stable and not toxic. Out of all the asinine reasons the writers could have chosen to break those two up, that was one of the worst.
I can understand why these girls are mad at their partners for not being there for important events and plans that they have with them. However, if you are dating a superhero and you know that they are a superhero I feel like you should be okay with things being missed and if you aren't okay with that you should save both your time and your partners time by breaking up.
"I can't believe you missed dinner with my parents, what could've been so-! Oh, the super strong woman dressed as an elephant again? Ok, don't worry, babe. I'll come up with something to tell them."
Gwen Stacy was also the “me me me” in those last moments… it’s literally why she faced her fate. She wanted to be a girl boss and refused to listen to Peter, despite him clearly telling her to get to safety. She wanted to prove herself equally important, literally says the dialogue “you don’t tell me what to do, nobody tells me what to do” to Peter. She was just as toxic in those last scenes, which is a shame cause her earlier character was clearly more of a “I’m capable of helping but I also know my limits and respect my boyfriend”
It’s all good on his end. Barry liked Iris since before the adoption. Iris is the freak who treated him like a brother, loved him as one, admitted as much to his face and then still somehow got with him.
Legally speaking Iris would be Barry's foster sister not his stepsister since they were raised in the same house by her dad from a young age. Since Joe never legally adopted him, so they can technically still get married. Otherwise, that would not be possible. She'd be his stepsister if they were related by their parents' marriage. So, Joe would have to be married to Barry's mom or Iris's mom would have to be married to Barry's dad. Any way you slice it that should be too much of an obstacle for any couple to even want to be together. I still remember Joe's wedding speech about his kids getting married. I don't know why the producers ever though that would be appropriate for the CW's audience.
@@petermatthews3729they make it even worse by constantly bringing up how they’re “kind of like brother and sister”, Barry sees Joe as his father, Barry gets weirded out by kissing Iris in front of Joe - granted there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to kiss your significant other in front of people - but it ultimately comes down to how it’s framed “He’s your… He’s our.. He’s Joe”
So The Flash is my favorite tv show. But “you are not the Flash, WE Are.” I literally said, “so you’re Barry Allen?” And she literally makes everything about her her her. Me, Myself, and I. Like, Barry was right to get into arguments with her like that. And he is her husband, and she admits that doesn’t care that the Reverse Flash killed her own husband’s mom. Barry should have just divorced and kicked her off the team there too.
Barry had just taken her daughter to the future and she didn't think she'd be able to see her again for years. He made that decision without even letting her say goodbye. And Iris didn't mean she didn't care that Thawne he killed his mom, she meant she wasn't going to abandon her daughter because she made a mistake working with Thawne, which Barry did and later regretted.
I recently started to watch The Flash, which is my first Time trying to really watch some DC related content. But from what I've heard, is there a Season I should stop to ? I've heard that at some point it's not as good as the start
So? She never comforted him when his life was a total mess. In fact she used him as a punching bag because it made her feel superior. She’s a narcissist who is out for herself.
Amber isn't really that bad of a character. She represents the realistic effect of having a relationship with a regular person as a hero and then lying to them on a regular basis. One of the big lessons for Mark to learn in season 1 was learning to balance his hero life with his personal one. Mark tried to be a good boyfriend to Abmer and be a good hero, but ultimately failed to juggle them. In prioritizing saving lives, it came at the expense of Amber, and every time she got upset, he'd just apologize and convince her to stay. Until she just got fed up with him. Mark thought that revealing his identity would fix it, but that wasn't the point. Amber was tired of being lied to and having an absent boyfriend. She hated the fact that the guy she loved didn’t even trust her enough to let her know why he was always flaking on her. Amber knowing he was invincible was stupid tbh, and she should have just not cared about that. But overall, Amber is how most people would feel about dating a superhero who lies to you your face constantly and makes you feel lonely in your own relationship. Mark wasn't a bad guy or anything, but he was a bad boyfriend to Amber.
Yeah, this video got all the facts right when Iris said "Barry you are not the Flash. We are the Flash. " I had to restart my brain and fill it with bleach to not jump through the TV and Strangle her

OP has a point. A lot of these characters are poor attempts at "nuanced" support characters that fail at what they're supposed to be good at. Also, we shouldn't go the route of "these characters are realistic because I met a few girls that sucked IRL". These are just bad characters, not accurate representations of "realistic" women.

@wingsoffreedom3589 That concept seems riddled with loopholes. Logically, there is no way two people with such conflicting world views and principles would ever be friends, let alone form a relationship. Raimi's MJ fell in love with Peter at the hospital when she visited Aunt May and he admitted his feelings about her, not just because he was Spider-Man. She didn't even know he was Spider-Man until the end of 2. In Spidey 2, she wasn't upset that he wasn't coming to her show, but that he kept her guessing on whether or not he actually wanted to be with her. She knew he did, but he wouldn't tell her. So it forced her to move on. So when he spilled the beans and it all made sense for her, she made the decision to break off her wedding (the day of, which is awful, not defending that) because she knew she would be miserable for the rest of her days because she chose not to be with the one man she's ever truly loved. In Spider-Man 3, the cracks start to show in this unhealthy relationship they've both had. And Peter's ego was getting to him and it got in the way of their relationship, and that was before he started wearing the black suit. After, it just made him worse. Not saying everything about her is blameless, she still cheats on her men, but Peter needed to be humbled and actually wasn't trying to hear her out. When he had the chance to actually listen to her talk about her bad reviews, which were basically career-ending, he kept pushing it off. He kept ignoring the conversation and thought that because things were going great for him, they must be going great for her. Also, she refused his proposal because he shared their kiss with Gwen Stacy. I dont know about you, but I'd be furious if that happened to me. I just think Raimi's Mary Jane is so easily misunderstood because she's such a grounded, broken person. She's just like a lot of women I've known, she deserved a better upbringing. Game MJ though? Yeah, pretty trash. And Amber is a dumpster fire.
To be fair with the review thing, he was trying to relate to her with his own experiences. It wasn’t really an ego thing. That’s more of a classic issue of men wanting to give the woman advice to help her and the woman wanting them to just listen. Personally, I think that’s just lame, but I guess that’s how it is in real relationships
Never forget in season 4 of arrow felecity smoak made the kindnapping of Oliver’s son all about herself and then learned how to walk again just to walk out on him. She got progressively worse after that
I'd argue otherwise. Felicity was awful in season five but got better the last two seasons outside a moment here or there. Diggle was worse than Felicity ever was.
See the problem with this is that the "me interest" is the most relatable character in a hero story and we don't feel that way because we think we are the heroes. Your significant other should be an important person in your life, and you should definitely make them an important part of your life. That's why they are SIGNIFICANT other. The thing is that with a non superpower interest this is not possible, because they are weak and they dont have any way to protect themselves let alone be a significant part of the life of a hero. I don't blame amber or mary jane or any powerless person who gets into the relationship with a superhero simply because of the fact that by shutting them off of a significant portion of your life, these heroes are doing them dirty. Like, I'm sure you are Saving lives which i am grateful for,but don't get me involved in a relationship with you if you evidently can't see my parents or put in any kind of effort. I blame mark and peter fpr getting with these people. Batman is right, superheroes are not like regular people. Mark and peter are superhuman individuals who faces superhuman threats on a regular. Those mfs should understand that they are not "normal" and should not get with people who want to live normal lives. Get with superhuman love interests or don't. To illustrate my point, imagine if the president of United states takes a secret identity and live somewhere outside of America, lying to a person for the years. Imagine now that one day terrorists finds out about this, and decides to take out his family. The responsibility lies on him completely, because that mf was the most powerful man on the planet and chose to lie and get with a powerless girl. I fucking hate teenage superheroes man. Mfs can blow up a city but also wanna live 'normal lives" and put people around them under constant danger.

Not only the best romantic interest he's ever had, but probably the best friend he's ever had, _to this day._ Idk what marvel editorial has against her, but the woman that came out of 'One More Day' was not Mary Jane, more like Martha James or something.
What really sent me over for iris in the CW flash was in season one. I mean first of all, making Barry and her adoptive siblings was extremely questionable at best. But secondly it was the episode with gorilla Grodd In that episode Joe, her father mind you, got kidnapped by Grodd and team flash scrambled to find him. Meanwhile Iris just found out that Barry is the Flash. So instead of getting angry or upset that despite Barry having powers, her father was kidnapped and could die at any moment. No, it was about how he kept a secret from his "best friend" Bruh there's a reason why he didn't tell you! This episode proves what happens to people who know Barry's secret! If my best friend failed to save my dad i would be mad at them for failing, NOT for something as juvenile as that And defenders of Iris say that we dont like her cuz of racism or something that stupid. Joe is a fan favorite and he's her dad. I wish the show kept him and got rid of her selfish ass. Hell Barry should've ended up with Caitlin Snow, they had way better chemistry
CW Iris was okay until they introduced Patty. Then Patty became too powerful so they got rid of her - then Iris became “We are the Flash” Iris and was hated instantly.
Like eve in invincible season 1 told Mark "date someone with superpowers so that you don't go through protecting your love interest all the damn time" it's crazy how a lot of superheroes don't do that if I got powers I'm finding the first superpowered female I like and wifing her up. Bc at least we can protect each other now if u have something like green arrow and black canary where even though he doesn't have powers he can still fight that's better than either of them having no power or no combat experience.
@@pn2294the trust thing is a good point but them being super-powered means they specifically won’t constantly be used as a bargaining chip by whatever villain finds out the heroes’ identities (cos the heroes’ family, children, etc can still be used the same way)
@pn2294 They're still more likely to overcome those problems. Using the example of GA and BC they worked together to save Connor Hawke (Ollie's son) in their series, Lian Harper (a normal kid) could break Vandal Savage's fingers at like age 5 cause of precautions, and they share experiences and so understand the dangers the superhero life brings, and what the other person is going through.
My first exposure to MJ was when I read my father’s first one hundred issues of Web of Spider-Man. Now it has been several years since I read them all, but if my memory serves me right MJ was so good to Peter in those issues! (Again I might be remembering incorrectly) I distinctly remember one time he comes home all beat up from fighting villains and MJ is sitting on the couch mending his other damaged suits. Loved it!

Actually, MJ was bad in the comics as well. She chewed out a clearly beaten and bloodied Pete after he was gone for days when she knows the shit that happens in a superhero universe. She was trapped in a parallel universe by some creep and married him even though Pete was trying to get to her. In Maximum Carnage, she bitched at Pete for not taking a break from heroing... when CARNAGE was on the loose! She is the antithesis of great power and great responsibility!

Felicity from arrow is close to me on this list.... that whole arc when she got paralyzed and eventually got her strength to walk again was just one big disrespect tour on Oliver. She legit gets up off the wheel chair and dips on him right to his face. Idk about yall but if im tryna care for my fiancée and she does that to me, then it's beyond over
Felicity was the same as Iris. She just brought a bit of dumb blonde humor. There was also a point where she became leader of Team Arrow and turned Oliver into a “Yes, Dear,” just like Barry. They kept Oliver from his true love interest (Laurel) for the drama (until it became annoying), but might have been better than Felicity in the long run.
Yeah, I disliked Felicity a lot in Seasons 3-5, she used to be good in Seasons 1 and 2. In Seasons 6 and 7, I found her tolerable aside from some moments, but too much had happened by then to make me like her again. I'll always support Oliver/Sara in the show.
@@jinxie712 I felt like the alternate reality version of Laurel would been the bets fit, as she lost Oliver and her lost her. Nope the fans shipped Felicity so it trumps any better pairings.

In Talia's defense that was a case of racist writing, the og comic storyline Grant Morrison took inspo for creating Damian Wayne, Bruce and Talia had been married and had done it consensually but for some God forsaken reason Grant decided to make it into r*pe instead, they've since said they regretted writing that as an actual plotline and it has been retconned but unfortunately Talia does still fall victim to racist writing because for some reason D.C writers have a hate boner for her and need any chance they can get to character assassinate her

As Scream, she complained how hard it was to support Peter... who lost his aunt about a year prior and kept losing jobs because of being Spiderman. MJ needs to take a long walk up a small volcano
I would say it’s Gwen Stacy, or that one mutant girl that’s power is controlling and talking to animals. That love interest was GOAT’ed and was in only one universe
Honorable mention felicity from Arrow! I'll never forget how she found out she could walk again only to walk out on Oliver mid conversation right after telling him she was ending their engagement 😭
What I’ve come to learn is that comics are written a lot by hacks (since shock sells) and the truly talented writers often leave the industry so now you are left with story lines that feel almost reality tv like.
Rachel from the dark Knight movies was like this. She acted like Bruce was being a fool when he wanted to go after the mob. She was disgusted by him when he leaned into his playboy persona. Then she acted like Bruce and Harvey were a couple of children when she found out Bruce was Batman and Harvey was part of his investigations. She constantly provoked the villains when all that did is almost get her killed and Batman has to save her. And the entire time, Rachel just acts so smug like because she's working for the justice department that she know is corrupt somehow makes her better than everyone
lol the editing is sending me😂 also have you seen the harley quinn animated series, i would love to see your take on that, i’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews of this show😊
Nah... Comic MJ was on that same energy sometime after the honeymoon period of their marrage was over. In fact I can pin point when it started. Right after Harry's death and its was at its worst during Maximum Carnage. It got a little better when she got pregnant. She was on that energy again when they got separated in the early 2000s.
Maximum Carnage. She said not to go out and fight the homocidal supervillains killing people. She told him to do the opposite of "great power, great responsibilty". MJ always sucked
@@wingsoffreedom3589 Michelle really wasn't a bad love interest when you rewatch the movie. Sure, she isn't perfect, but i don't think that people would have disliked her so munch if they had just given her another nickname instead of "MJ".
I don’t understand how they thought playing as Mary Jane, the love interest was a good concept in the Spider-Man game. It really boggles my mind lol. For Iris, what made me question the show’s existence was when they said she was the leader of team Flash…hoow ?
@@thomasraines1396 no they didn’t. She could’ve just been like the other characters. Cutscenes and dialogue only. Like lol, if we HAVE to play as someone other than Spider-Man, why not Yuri? Yuri can actually FIGHT. Don’t sleep on Aunt May and that cane yo). It’s so ridiculous, like lol, they really want us to believe that MJ can knock out Sable soldiers (with all that damn armor) with a taser. Lol I can’t believe these devs. They should be ashamed of themselves for those stealth missions.
Writers use love interests as another dramatic effect for the movie/whatever, it's a prop more than anything. Unless the relationship happens toward the end of the movie or series then it's just used for more conflict.
Another good example was Pepper Potts in the MCU. She literally complained about Tony doing Iron Man shit every time. Even in Infinity War, she saw aliens show up and destroy shit and she still called Tony like "omg Tony, you better get back here and do nothing this instant."
I'm convinced MJ was a part of the Sinister Six because she dealt more damage to Peter's mind than any villain who left a wound.
"The heart, MJ! First we attack his heart!"
To add to that
There was a time in the 2002 spider man move or maybe one of its sequels, where she actually cheats on him with someone, Twice. Or maybe cheats on someone else with him.

The real Mary Jane is so better that the movies.
I fucking hate that “we are The Flash” shit. Like, no? From the very beginning, Iris interjected herself into The Flash, when she didn’t even know who the Flash was! Every single person in her life was telling her to knock that shit off: Joe, Barry, her fucking FIANCÉ, even The Flash himself-a complete stranger to Iris at this point), and she just kept doing it, because “Barry needs hope.” Bitch, he also needs you alive (for some reason)! gotta love the “love interest that will definitely get the protagonist killed” character type

@@mrtoons282I'm fairly certain they only forced the Barry-Iris relationship because its the canonical Barry relationship in the comics. Even though they themselves made a plotline where Barry and Iris practically grew up like siblings since they were pre-teens.
Yep everyone knows Caitlyn was bestgirl. But Barry has to end up with Iris or else it's not The flash 😑

Blame the writers cuz no way a normal girl dating a hero would act like this 🤦♀️
Gwen Stacy was also the “me me me” in those last moments… it’s literally why she faced her fate.
Its been a while since i watched the movies but i think she just wanted to help peter i dont remember though
5:18 she also kisses bro upsidedown to reenact kissing Peter as Spidey 😭😭😭

Iris was his STEP SISTER. There’s no coming back from that
they just lived together and that was it.
We’re going into anime territory with this
@@petermatthews3729they make it even worse by constantly bringing up how they’re “kind of like brother and sister”, Barry sees Joe as his father, Barry gets weirded out by kissing Iris in front of Joe - granted there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to kiss your significant other in front of people - but it ultimately comes down to how it’s framed “He’s your… He’s our..
Military wife syndrome.
Saw that episode where she says that recently. I had pretty much the same reaction. Like what the actual f*ck
@@phantom9831 I would say season 6. But there are crossover events with each show: Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.
5:50 ok she didn’t blame him for being Spider-Man, she was angry because he’s not trying to comfort her or try to reassure her
Men make things up as they go along.

Good work on this report. I was disappointed however that you didn’t talk about Live Action Jean Grey since she’s in the thumbnail but otherwise you were spot on with the other three.
She has been in a broken home before and the comic
To be fair with the review thing, he was trying to relate to her with his own experiences. It wasn’t really an ego thing. That’s more of a classic issue of men wanting to give the woman advice to help her and the woman wanting them to just listen. Personally, I think that’s just lame, but I guess that’s how it is in real relationships
she had daddy issues, thats what drove her to be like that.
I binged Toby Maguire Spider-Man and saw how terrible she was. Gwen Stacy was the best love interest even in the comics.

Gwen was a bland nothing in the comics...before her death.

What really sent me over for iris in the CW flash was in season one. I mean first of all, making Barry and her adoptive siblings was extremely questionable at best. But secondly it was the episode with gorilla Grodd
In that episode Joe, her father mind you, got kidnapped by Grodd and team flash scrambled to find him. Meanwhile Iris just found out that Barry is the Flash. @@ikengaspirit3063also the fact that Nightwing did not fucking kill Talia when he found out about said rape or that Kate didn't do the same thing
Or that ALFRED would approve of her after that
It wasn't just Talia, every character was miswritten
I think that the hate for Insomniacs Mary Jane is a bit overblown, but I do see why people don’t like her.
Movie MJ on the other hand, I see why people hate her, and I agree with them. And this is coming from someone who loves the Sam Rami movies.
Nah it's justified, cause insomniac forced her into the story for no reason. That SBI infusion definitely wasnt worth it.
I think most of the hate is literally from having to play with her. I hated every second they forced me into that.
Spiderman 2 MJ: “Loves Peter”
Also SM2 MJ: Writes hit piece on Spiderman.
The hate for Insomniac MJ is in no way overblown. Stop it.
As Scream, she complained how hard it was to support Peter... who lost his aunt about a year prior and kept losing jobs because of being Spiderman. MJ needs to take a long walk up a small volcano
Felicia is definitely my favorite love interest for Peter
I would say it’s Gwen Stacy, or that one mutant girl that’s power is controlling and talking to animals. That love interest was GOAT’ed and was in only one universe
Silk’s honestly a W
Sophia "Chat" Sandoval: ...
Wow...even she's a toxic bro... don't go for hots...my fav is MJ...not the terrible ones
She's a scumbag as well bruh 😭
7:14 Who tf died and made her leader?
nope, i’m being serious
"we are the flash" is the funniest $h*t I've ever heard iris say
lol the editing is sending me😂 also have you seen the harley quinn animated series, i would love to see your take on that, i’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews of this show😊
Raimi's MJ did incalculable damage to Comic MJ's image way before Quesada, Slott and Wells did
At least Tom’s MJ isn’t “me me me”
She was fun and snarky, plus knew when she was in over her head
She is Michelle Jones it doesn't count
@@wingsoffreedom3589 Michelle really wasn't a bad love interest when you rewatch the movie. Sure, she isn't perfect, but i don't think that people would have disliked her so munch if they had just given her another nickname instead of "MJ".
@@despinasgarden.4100 I liked her anyway she was low maintainance and considerate calling her michelle would have been ideal but I liked.
@@michaeliv284 She's had nothing in common with the MCU Peter
Kinda surprised when you talked about MJ, you didn't mention Paul from the comics.
That... creature... deserves it's own video on how badly it screwed up the comics.
@@bloodrosereaper2099 and how Peter for some reason, is treated like the bad guy in that mess..
AMBER LITERALLY MAKES ME ANGRYYYYYYY
Bro, this editing is so good. Please keep up with this type of content. Straight up couldn't catch my breath at certain parts
PS4 Marry Jane needs to be called out more! She's s annoying!
Had me wishing the DLC had a cheating side plot
I don’t understand how they thought playing as Mary Jane, the love interest was a good concept in the Spider-Man game. It really boggles my mind lol.
For Iris, what made me question the show’s existence was when they said she was the leader of team Flash…hoow ?
They needed to give her something to do.
@@thomasraines1396 no they didn’t. She could’ve just been like the other characters. Cutscenes and dialogue only. Like lol, if we HAVE to play as someone other than Spider-Man, why not Yuri? Yuri can actually FIGHT. I wouldn’t mind playing as her, or even Silver Sable or Black Cat, but nah, we gotta play as the ONLY female character in this game with no fighting skills (shit Aunt May probably fights better than her.
Chill with the sound effects. Lowkey Johnny Test
Writers use love interests as another dramatic effect for the movie/whatever, it's a prop more than anything. Unless the relationship happens toward the end of the movie or series then it's just used for more conflict.
Any Superhero: *Trying to save the world from a world-ending disaster*
These girls: "How could you just ignore me like this?!" 😭
Another good example was Pepper Potts in the MCU. She literally complained about Tony doing Iron Man shit every time. Even in Infinity War, she saw aliens show up and destroy shit and she still called Tony like "omg Tony, you better get back here and do nothing this instant."
