Cloned Car 1 Year Later Update, Expired MOT Tactic - UK Cars Cloning Scam

It is now just over 1 year since I became aware that my car had been cloned the trigger point being that someone had got a care under my plate MOT'd BEFORE ME! Which an investigation by the DVSA confirmed that a cloned car had been presented at a garage for MOT over a hundred miles from where I reside in a Town that I have never visited, so I did all of the usual stuff i.e. informing the DVLA, Police etc as well as my own detective work in tracking down the person who cloned my car! Anyway following numerous requests this is an update of what has transpired since including my recent tactic of letting my MOT expire, leaving the car parked on my drive for a few weeks to see what happens for if the car plate was still cloned then surely ANPR camera's would flag it to the police to intercept.

We had a car cloned and the only solution was to change the number plate. We tried for 5 months to get someone to do something about it, but even after 13 penalty charges that we had to defend, no-one did anything. What was worse was that the other vehicle bore no resemblance at all to ours and still the penalty charges arrived. No resemblance at all. Colour, design and manufacturer all different. Penalty charges are issued and no-one checks the details. They just send them out.

Maybe the fact that my detective work pointed out who cloned and sold it with my plate in a video helped the cloners see sense.

They haven’t cloned your car, they’ve just copied your number plate which is very common. The car can only be cloned if VIN numbers are the same along with false registration documents.

Your not even watching the videos are you :) They got the CAR MOT'd! Thats HOW I found out it was CLONED! i.e. on the governments MOT register !
