I’ve had A LOT of messages in regards to what I did, I was advised by the police to do the following:
Write to the address of Town/County/City that have issued the ticket, explaining to them that this isn’t your car, include pictures of your car all over, on the letter. SEND ON RECORDED MAIL SO YOU KNOW ITS BEEN SENT AND HAVE PROOF OF SIGNATURE.
Once you’ve done this contact the police, email would be best! As for me they were very slow but they will get back to you and it will be logged with them.
You’ll have to remain patient but if it’s clearly not your car, like mine. Then it will all be cleared. It can be stressful but it will get sorted.

Someone I worked with got raided and woken at 3am (he is 67) by the cops They asked to inspect his car in closed garage, nothing special, common Audi 3 estate diesel a slow slugger and not a getaway car ever! Both plates were missing and been used in a crime on an exact model car, year and colour. They were watching him and following him home. So be observant!
Same with me, the car was purchased a few weeks ago, 3 tickets so far, the cloned car looks identical, police was not surprised, they did know immediately and they were very helpful, but still have prove this to the issuing authority.
I feel sorry for you, though I am glad you got it sorted. To try and prevent this from happening, that's why the numberplate making places ask to see proof of ID and proof of address prior to making the numberplate. It's shocking that people have the nerve to such an awful thing and getting cloned numberplates made.
I'm shocked when I was told by one of actionfraud online advisor that "Identity theft" is not the offend by law.

It is the same with parking. We have a number cloned and we had 14 (yes, fourteen) parking tickets in 5 months and we live nearly 500 miles away! . One of them was from a private parking outfit, complete with pictures. A different colour, different model, different make. And - get this - the number plate on the front was a different reg from the number plate on the back and they still sent out the demands for money.
this has just happened to me in Birmingham UK "clean air zone".please note if you use Google Maps your location ( well your phones) is logged with time so can be used to prove your location at the time of the "offence" .I am trying to get some distinctive,but legal, number plates to make proper unique identification easier - as a scrum will hadly make up expensive plates exactly to match ( I hope)

I've just bought a car 2 weeks ago from York, so far I've had 2 speeding tickets from York!!!! The cars are identical but the difference is my car has the gb logo on the plate on the front and my rear lights are tinted but the car that keeps getting speeding tickets has a plain reg and normal lights!!
I've just bought a private plate to put on mine and hopefully who ever is using my plate thats on now get caught by a anpr and dealt with accordingly
how did you find out he got caught by anpr?
Good thing the idiots were stupid enough to put it on a old model which made proving it wasn't your car much easier

My colleague her her car cloned, she had an average runaround car, and like you, the people racked up loads of speeding tickets. She had to prove to the police that she was at work and get her employer to confirm that, and not driving around the UK. Also I am in road safety and two men were screaming abuse at us and the police think that the car was cloned and are currently contacting the reg owner to find out whether they were driving around the village at the time. So you are right, they can be doing all sorts of things on a cloned plate. #england
My step dad had his whole car cloned and they did a robbery in his car and then abandoned it. But the car that they had was a completely different series of his vehicle.

Darn just got my car number plate stolen today, as soon I notice it I report to the police on 101. I feel yours pain as I am starting to go through what you are going through soon. Waiting for loads of tickets to come. I have order a new numbers plate with a England flag instead EU flag.So when it’s happen again it’s will clearly show that my old stolen plate. Was all yours speeding fines written off in end?
We are in road safety and we had two crazy men shouting abuse to us and even coming out of their car, we managed to get the reg number and it was closed, so they could be doing all sorts of things using that plate. The police are now writing to the reg owner to confirm what they were doing at the time of the incident.

I got ticket yesterday I don't know what to do I have reported it to the police but everyone in my family are saying to contact dvla I don't know how as it's Bank Holiday weekend
@shinebright6116 police , dvla , cyber security, your insurance report online everywhere . They best if you have some proof , shoping recipe or something like this. Call or send message straight away company which give you ticket and wait for answer. Don pay nothing before you get message for ticket company/police
Contacting the police joke I had my numberplate cloned and went too my local police station and was told there was nothing they can do. And why don’t I get a private plate
The problem in uk is,the powers that be are fkin useless at doing anything about this type of crime. They get heavy handed with the poor sods who reports the crime rather than get of their arses to catch the fckers who cloned your plates. In any case, it should be up to the law to prove who’s car it was, and not you having to prove to them it wasn’t your car. If the law must rob motorists blind, the least the fckers can do is take decent photos. If the photos are not clear, they should bin the ticket.
