Thank you, sir, I took the driver's side front off for the same reason. It's sitting on my work bench waiting for me to tear into it. I think you saved me a lot of money!

We need more Wayne's in this world! If I lived in Northern Florida, there is no doubt who would be working on our RV's.... Great video and well explained step by step in your troubleshooting. Thank you.

Wayne....we are extremely pleased with the leveler work you did on our Class A. Thanks again for the fantastic work you do.....we are so glad we ran into you in the dealership that day.....!!!

Great video. You are an excellent mechanic. You are doing a great service for your customers. I had some warranty work done to my rig the other day. I won't mention the dealerships name online. I would imagine that they're all the same. Their labor rates are $150 per hour and currently it would be August before you could schedule an appointment. I am glad that I also learned mechanic work from my father. It has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. Have a great weekend and love the channel. Knowledge is power.

Great work Wayne, my RV has a BigFoot leveling system. I have never had any issues with it. I still hope you work on one some day and video it. As we all know, without you the only way we have to know what is inside sealed systems like levelers is for us to take them apart. I just can't make myself fix something that is not broken. Than you again and its great to have you back. See ya down the Road Daniel R. Fort Worth Texas

Good job, if he was to take it to an “RV store” they would have just replaced it with the same junk, not many shops actually “fix” anything anymore, thanks for being there.

I'm speechless. Truly amazing work, Wayne. I get tired of saying how impressed I am at your willingness to open sh*t up and find the problem, and most times, find a better, more practical way to fix it than the "professional" engineers. lol. It's almost as if - no matter the project, whether you have done work on it before or not, you are never afraid to dig in and investigate, and it's REALLY fun to watch. :) Nice work buddy.

Work safely, stay happy, and, God Bless!

I am adding my experience to this. You can no longer get parts for this system. I tried Oct.2020 .Atwood was sold to Dometic which sold to Lippincott Inc. My gears, the 2 matched 15 teeth gears from the motor to the screw jack busted in half. They want you to buy a whole new system. They do not support any parts needed saying it was a bad design. What I did was order two stock 15 tooth spur gears from Martin Gear Manufacturing, which were thicker and had a 1 inch hub and stock 3/4 inch bore. I went to a tool and die shop had the hub milled down and the gear milled down from .750 to .680 my size and sleeved the bore for 5/8 inch and then he notched it for the pin that goes thru shaft that the gear sets on.
$70 dollars for 2 gears and $50 dollars to Tool and Die shop. Beats the hell out of replacing the whole system. I dont know how to do youtube videos ,but hope some one reads this and it helps them.

Great job. A new one plus labor would be well over $1000.00 . Crazy how dealerships treat us after we buy from them. Would a hydraulic system work better than the electric one.?

  • @jackbrown8052

Excellent job Wayne. You've got great ingenuity. You and I know why the factory didn't use a bushing with a collar (7:30), it might have added $0.50 to the cost of the RV and produced a better quality RV. In the long run this might have cut down on repairs done at dealer repair shops.

Hey Wayne, seems Atwood has a bit of a design problem.. love the brass bushing with the collar, I would just be a little concerned because brass is a much softer metal the steel washer, is it going to hold when they hit the end "over extended".. again you suprised me with you broad knowladge of rv components, once again nice job..

I have the exact same system & what is happening is the left front jack whines & grinds when I operate the system. Is it worth me pulling it apart to see what is going on., This prob was intermittent for this summer but now it is permanant issue. While the other 3 jacks work fine this one runs for about 5 secs with a god awful noise & then throws the system into alarm. Jack at this point neither goes up or down. Can you help? Where do you live, I'll bring my rig to you

Great video,! I've had my jacks apart many times. I now have a major issue with the air dump. Re guard less of turning on the control pad, as soon as you turn the coach on it drops air. No one can help me. Many phone calls to Atwood I'm getting error code on the dr rear jack. ? ?? All the jack run well in manual mode. Where do I go ???????

Hey Wayne I have been watching for a while and enjoy your how to videos. I also do most of the work on my motorhome. I have a question a friend has the same leveling system and could use a gear set. Any idea where to find them. It seams Lipert has been buying everyone out that makes parts for campers. We can't find anything on these levelegs.

How can you say it is not quality of parts when they are using a washer and a bearing like that, that is total bullshit they should have been using what you put in there from the start.

    • @nomadicfanatic
      @nomadicfanatic 6 лет назад +2

Quality of parts is different than CHOICE of Parts! He's saying they could have engineered it differently. That's why it failed. The WRONG part, not a BAD part.
