Your video will help people for years to come. I’m stuck with the FR Jack locked down . Even in manual mode it just clicks as it spins. I understand there is a shear pin in there. Prayers it that but still , the entire FR system has to come out 😢
I have the same coach and jacks in a 2006. Love the coach but ALWAYS worry the jacks will fail. Need to upgrade for peace of mind. Great vid and thanks!
Thank you for this. I also have an 08 Phaeton and have had issues over the years. This really helps me understand just what I’m up against and I will be planning to replace mine also.
Yup, the Bigfoots have been great ever since. Those Atwoods really were not designed properly for big heavy rigs. The Bigfoots can lift up the end of the rig without straining at all. Also, I really should post a follow up with the things I have learned since then, like the fact that the Bigfoots could be mounted directly to the existing Atwood welded on brackets, and where the pumps are mounted in each position. The pump/reservoir brackets required some minor welding. I had a shop put them on, but in retrospect, it could have been a larger DIY project.
@@striderz69 Any progress with the Bigfoot follow up? Looking forward to your lessons learned before I commit. What was cost of system and cost of installation? Who did the work?
@@martinbadrov5542 Bigfoots are still working great, and are solid and work every time. Only issue I have had is a dirty "up" switch causing beeping "not all-up" alarms for me as I was driving, but easily remedied by lowering and raising the jack again. I have used them in snow, ice, cold and hot temps with no complaints. I recommend SnapPads also, makes them a no-contact set up when I arrive at camp. I had a place called Pro-Tech in Colorado Springs do the install, but in retrospect I could have done it myself, as they re-used my old brackets that were welded to the frame, not the new ones supplied by BigFoot. I wish I had gone to the BigFoot factory for the install, as it would have also been cheaper.
@@striderz69 Do you mind sharing what they charged for the install? I’m getting some crazy prices from all the shops around me…. The big foot shop is a 3000 mile round-trip. There’s gotta be someone here in the mountain west that can do it for a reasonable price….
Poor guy!! TY TY TY My 2006 Bounder has levelegs and while trouble free (26k lbs loaded coach) i have had my driver rear jack FALL OUT when the jack screw shears off! 6 yes ago i replaced it. THAT 2016 Jack has now failed - and no parts. ??? Do you have a 15” jack screw? Thanks! K. Kincaid
My manual says the controller times each jack up and down and give error if those two not equal for each jack (yeah times, not turns). I was having problem with one of the rear ones. Measured both of the rear and indeed there was about 3 secs difference. The good one was about 1:23 consistently (plus or minus 1 sec or measurement error).
Also I figured you don't have to carry a drill and cord FJIC. Another way is a 12V battery (take house battery?) and a piece wire to hook up to the motors. Either take out the plug and stick it in or splice the wire and put permanent terminals. Assuming your motor did not go bad :)
At the 11:35 mark you ae using a drill to screw the shaft up. What did you use on the drill to attach to the shaft? My shaft appears to be siezed up in the casing.
You mentioned Gama for controls of some sort. I have a 2005 Gulfstream on a Chevy Kodiak chassis with a defective circuit board. I found a replacement circuit board but it is for a FORD chassis which is wired slightly differently. I would appreciate a reply. Thanks JwgK in Houston TX
I am not sure how the FORD version of circuit board differs, I think maybe just the dump circuit, which you can wire manual with a 3 way rocker switch, which you have to do anyway if you use the GAMA. The jack circuits should be similar, as all they do is reverse polarity to the jacks to raise or lower them. I have HEARD on the forums that SOME parts are still available from Lippert (who bought Atwood) for these jacks, but could find none when I was looking. Here are the GAMA controls I ordered, but my root issue ended up being too much resistance from the jacks due to broken shafts inside the gear boxes and I had to replace the whole system with Bigfoot eventually, as I had a front and a rear jack physically fail. www.gamainc.com/product/rf340-4pr-asl/?attribute_pa_communication-range=long-range&attribute_pa_enclosure-type=standard&attribute_pa_transmitter-type=waterproof
Send me a pic of which part you need and I will see if I have one left. The jacks are sitting on a scrap trailer about to go to the scrap yard soon, and many parts have been shipped out already. striider@gmail.com
That's a big part of the reason why I got rid of these things. No parts availability. You can try Lippert, who purchased Atwood, but they will likely have nothing. Your best bet is to find someone selling old ones that they replaced with something more reliable.
It went well, the Bigfoots are still working well. I paid way too much for a shop to install them for me. In retrospect, I could have done the install myself, as there was only minimal welding of the reservoir brackets required. The mounts you see in this video were used to mount the Bigfoots, so they were able to reuse the brackets already on the frame from the levelegs.
Good video. Got news for you, RVs are nothing but a rolling piece of shit project. Don't care how much you pay for them. My wife is the camper which forced me into RV hell, been 24 years and still hate it. Nuthin but a pain in the ass. That's why there are hotels

Cool - mine had broken gears and shafts in 2 of 4 of them so the time to retract or extend was infinite, like never :)
