  • The owner of this 2009 Winnebago Journey stated the jack down warning light and alarm would go off when driving down the road. This Journey has a powergear leveling system but the tank is mounted horizontally. These powergear systems only have a float switch in the tank that closes when when the fluid gets low which assumes the jacks have been extended. If there is a leak or low oil level, the fluid cloud slosh back and forth while driving or turning causing the system to think the jacks are down. The fluid was not low on this so I replaced the float switch and explain it...a bit.
    The lippert part number is 1510000070
    I alread showed how to replace a vertical switch here : • Replacing a Powergear ...

    Dropping RV knowledge like a silent soft whispering ninja. Leaving all RV problems dead in his wake. Doing more with one hand while holding a camera than I can do with both hands and not recording and teaching at the same time. Thank you sir!!! I have a vertical mounted system on a 1999 Fleetwood Bounder. But I'm sure the concepts are similar. By the way I almost had a heart attack when that grommet dropped inside the take. LOL

    Questions,
    1) what's your name?
    2) How difficult would it be to upgrade my power gear (manual only) on my 1999 NRV Tradewinds to an automatic like this?

    My Winnebago Elante 1994 just blew hydrolic fluid all over the ground on front driver side. Not happy but I will have to get my butt under there to hopefully fix what ever happened! I know now how you regret working on hydrolic! Well so do I. I swear all I have to do is walk by it and it jumps on me all over myself. Thanks for your input !

    Another piece of information added to the old knowledge bank. I have a Winnebago pusher so I’ll remember this. Thanks so much.
    Was wondering if the leveler fluid should be changed if it’s carrying metal filings?

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  4 года назад +1

      No, the filings were small normal particles. The pump actually has a screen sump that picks up about 1/2" from the bottom of the tank. Jack fluid really should never have to be changed as normal servicing. Thanks!

    AZ do you have a video for LCI jack? I have '14 Thor Hurricane on the touchpad when I turn it on it says, Jacks Down, even though the jacks are up. Then, it says Auto Retract all Jacks and Error Function Aborted. What seems to be the problem? Thanks.

    Test the old switch. Maybe? I was wondering if it just had a bad spot or if it was totally shot. Great video

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  4 года назад

      Thank you. I did test it off camera but could not find a spot that failed everytime. It's just a reed switch so its possible that the failure required more movement to fail closed.

    Why would you not clean the area around the sensor before removal? It only takes a second and would reduce the potential for contamination of the fluid.

    • @AZExpert

    You need a camera mount so you can use both hands. hahah. Thanks for the info. I have a 2004 Newmar Mountain Aire that when driving the buzzer comes on for jacks down. I have to push the retract button and it stops. Could this just be low fluid?

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  4 года назад +2

      newmar generally uses hwh. you need to let those go hrough a complete store cycle 6-9 minutes. it will turn itself off and that should stop your problem. I like the idea of a mount, but have found the setup akward and time consuming...but maybe. Thanks!

    • @kevinwilliamson7294
      @kevinwilliamson7294 4 года назад

      @@AZExpert It is HWH leveling. I do leave it on after I retract, but then the buzzer will come on randomly while driving.

    • @AZExpert
      @AZExpert  4 года назад +2

      @@kevinwilliamson7294 the Jack's are spring retracted and each jack has a sensor. If the alarm is still going off and retracting turns it off it sounds like the jack is extending and thermal expansion is the only other way beside the pump to extend. I would check and make sure the Jack's are completely retracted. The foot should be all the way to the cylinder

    • @kevinwilliamson7294
      @kevinwilliamson7294 4 года назад +2

      @@AZExpert Thanks for the insight. I did notice that the one jack on the rear has a small amount of chrome that shows on the cylinder when retracted. Maybe this one needs new springs. Thanks Again!

    Why in the world don't you clean the area around these switches before you remove them?? It can't be good at all for these hydraulic system for them to get dirt and dust in them.

      I did clean the area off before installing the switch...but you do have a point. Thanks!
