We bought a 2008 Itasca Sunrise this summer, and have had to do a lot of catch-up maintenance. We have had a leaking power gear power level system. This video taught me how to remove the float switch and re-install. I was able to clean up the float switch, washer and nut and get rid of the grime. I reinstalled the switch, and used the tip you had in the video, hold the switch with pliers while tightening the nut.
I re-installed, leveled the coach a few times then let the coach sit over night and check it today...no leak!
I appreciate your videos! Thanks much!

Hello. I just discovered your channel and am binge watching your videos to learn all that I can. We just bought a 2008 Fleetwood Bounder and we used the Power Gear leveling system to stabilize the unit so we can clean it. We are ready to leave for our trip however the jacks will not go up. The panel says low voltage. I have checked all fuses and they are good. Battery power when running is 14.2V. We tried disengaging the emergency brakes and waited 10 minutes and nothing happened. Just says low voltage. It doesn't even recognize the jacks are down as the jacks down light is off. I just watched your video on replacing the float switch. Will a faulty float switch cause a low voltage? Please help us. This is our first motorhome. Thank you so much.

I have to say that this is a atypically good demonstration of the overall procedure considering the challenges in getting a decent video in such a tight space! Were you using some kind of helmet cam, or do you perhaps have three hands or a very tiny assistant?? :-)

No third hand or assistant just a stubborn rv tech. Thank you

Is there a way to bench test the old one to verify weather it's good or not?

Will the Levelers not work if the warning switch is bad.

    • @AZExpert

Sorry, the jacks will still work, but the alarm will always be on. You can unplug the sensor but risk forgetting your jacks are down if you don't want to listen to it

Do you have any videos on how to 1. Drain the reservoir and put new fluid in? My drain screw is super hard and won’t budge.... suggestions? I’ve pushed and pulled to the point im scared I’m going to break the actually metal reservoir! And 2. How to manually release fluid out of the hoses on the Powergear power down spring up version, one hydraulic hose into each jack only so it’s not power up. I can’t get my jacks to come up so I can’t move the Rv. I have 3 solenoids and a dump solenoid three with plastic screw in tips but once I remove the tips it’s just a metal like rod, nothing to put a screwdriver in or pliers to turn to release fluid from hoses? Will I just have to resort to unscrewing the actual likes and allow the fluid to pour out so jacks can manually come up? Please help!!!!!

Depending on the system you may not have a manual retract. If it is spring return like I think it is, the easiest but messiest method is to crack the line from each jack at either the jack or manifold. Make sure you are safe and will not be crushed and just crack the line slowly. Fluid will drain out until the jack is retracted. You could also connect the coils around each valve to battery power or a cordless drill battery which would open the valve and allow the fluid to retract cleaning. I would say not to try to take the drain plug out if it is that tight. I'd say use a suction transfer pump with a long hose to pump the fluid out. However, unless there is substantial containmination in the fluid, there is little reason to change the fluid.

AZ Expert I think my wife put break fluid in the reservoir instead of power steering fluid.... sigh and it’s now mixed and I feel like it should be drained and new fluid added? I was told not to mix any fluids in the hydraulics. So I’m worried it’s gonna tear up the system.
And yes great idea, I’ll get some sort of syphon system to pump it out with

AZ Expert I also read in a forum that you can take the plastic screw on vape off the solenoids and turn the metal rods counterclockwise and that is the way you manually release the fluid from the lines?

AZ Expert the motor runs whenever I touch any of the buttons on the control panel but zero movement up or down... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@@Stephrae70 turning the rod will unscrew the valve from the body and will release the fluid, but it will still make a mess. Id rather crack a line or jump power to the valve coils. It sounded like you do not have a manual release in the middle of the the stem to open which is normally a hex Allen type screw head. It really sounds like none of the valves are opening with the controls so either the controller is bad, or a fuse is blown. Brake fluid has a different viscosity than hydraulic fluid but is technically hydraulic fluid so I would try to get the Jacks retracted first.

AZ Expert - my Power Gear setup up has a Kwikee Pressure Switch instead that I think has failed. The tech manual says that if you have continuity to ground when the jacks are up, it's bad. No longer made and no replacement. Without having to change out the entire system, any idea on how to get around this issue? Can I just unplug as well?

What kind of system is it? Level Best, 2000?

    • @Proost1
      @Proost1 5 лет назад +2

No. It’s a Power Gear / Dewald system with a manual controller up front. “Kwikee P/N 140-1179” i’m starting to wonder if it’s not that damn control panel but no parts are made anymore for any of it and wish there was an aftermarket way to upgrade the system or something. Sigh! Where in Arizona are you? I’m in Scottsdale.

@@Proost1 The shop is in Apache Junciton. I would be curious what the problem with the jacks are. In general, Lippert bought powergear, dewalk, kwikee, and most the valves, jacks, pumps, switches are or should be available. The controls/electronics are likely obsolete but should be upgradeable.

Actually... ignore my previous comment. Looking closer, it appears that the Amazon page has a computer rendering -- making the wires appear as straight metal rods. Thus my confusion. My apologies.
