My car has been doing this ever since I replaced the fuel pump the fuel filter the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor. I just hope it's not the main computer or the fuel injectors or even the timing chain
Good video Scotty! My brother had this happen on his car. I had a 99 Honda Accord that was doing this but no codes would come up. Eventually figured out the ignition switch wires where you put your key in to start it we're burned and shorting out.
My 2006 Chevy Impala’s crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor was bad. My car started stalling then dying on me, but the check engine light wouldn’t stay on. If it died on me, it immediately started back up. I hope after replacing both of my sensors that it fixes my issues. I subscribed. You are an amazing mechanic Scotty! ♥️🙏
Update: After replacing both crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, my car is still stalling on me and dying as I’m reversing, coming to a stop and making a turn. What would you advise I do next? Thanks in advance.

My 98 Z28 did this all of a sudden without any symptoms beforehand. Gauges go crazy Shutdown with no electrical power at all, as if a switch was turned of. But will start back up on its own or soon after. Leaving no error codes. I thoroughly checked and load tested the alternator, and battery, and ground connections. Found the positive terminal on the batt. was barely loose and negative terminal had lots of corrosion. More consistent readings on alternator tests. After a short test drive so far so good. Time will tell. I feel like a dumb a**. I’m a mechanic and I know better, however life has a way of getting in the way of the these simple tasks and things eventually catch up to you. Hope this helps someone.
At first, I thought the one video I watched was cheesy (sorry, I was researching on reasons a car would die and then instantly start back up) *BUT* then I decided to give another video a shot... These are funny and informative! Thanks for making them.

Top guy full of beans .....a friend with a peugeot 107 2007 has crank no start .... plugged it in no codes ......we originally thought it were 2 ignition coils but took them back as we still got no spark on 2 of the 3 spark plugs (2%3 cylonder no. Was firing ) so thinking cam sensor . I've had crank sensor out . But didn't think to tap it to see if it starts . Same with cam sensor ..I'll give it a try . Thanks
I have a 1989 pontiac firebird. lately it has been dying often while driving in traffic. once In a red light, once in reverse and once while turning. it will start right back up. I'd like to get a general idea before spending hundreds of dollars
Viridiana Trevino, you could try techron like I do. works wonders, it cleans out your fuel injectors, if the problem persists, the fuel pump is the culprit, good luck.

Scotty, I have the same code for a cam shaft position sensor on a 2004 Mazda 3. Driving at interstate speeds(65-70) the rpms start to fluctuate back and forth and will some times start to shudder so strongly that you can feel it in the car pretty strongly. Most of the time letting off the gas and getting back on will correct it for a short time sometimes 30 seconds sometimes for a couple of minutes. Then when coming to a stop at a redlight or slowing down to turn the rpms will again fluctuate by 500 to 1000 rpm and then when it goes to shift down from 4th to 3rd the car will shut off. I then have to put it in neutral and restart the car. It idles fine otherwise. Other codes are for small evap system leak which i have had for some time, I replaced the purge valve but no luck, I think the charcoal canister or leak test pump may be cracked but no performance issues for 10s of thousands of miles with that. Also a cat below threshold code for some 10 to 20 thousand miles again no major issues from that. What could be my problem. I replaced the cam position sensor with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, great videos. Thanks
Thank God for the internet 🙏 It's a blessing or a curse , depending on how you used it . It can make you or break you .this video was exactly what I was lookin for 👌
SCOTTY!!!!!! YOUR ARE AWESOME!!! I love how you are straight to the point and explain everything so simply!!! I could actually do some of my own work with your guidance and what you explained about the strut assembly is exactly what I needed answered. I recently just purchased a pair like that you tested and yup worse then ever. I knew it but with all the prices ranging from very low to high I chose in the middle. What You explained makes perfect sense and I thought it was silly to replace the whole thing. When I did my research on front suspension on the internet, pretty much all the sites said when replacing parts its recommended to replace all components involved. Now after having the new ones installed and it making the worst clunking noises ever my mechanic told me the mounts are bad and to replace only those. That didn't sit right with me . It doesn't make sense that brand new parts only have one part bad. The whole dang thing is junk!! Also, I have a 2003 Kia Sorento and everytime i put gas in it I have to pull the handle slowly and in spurts otherwise it makes a gurgling sound and spits out gas. What is causing this to happen? A filter possibly? Thank you in advance for reading and if you get the time to read my comment and answer It would be greatly appreciated. You go Scotty!!
After having a ford dealership replace everything else and it still died, I took my car to local mechanic and it was fixed for cheap because it was just that sensor. Thanks ford!
Oh yea, my 2001 civic was overheating like crazy, and I replaced camshaft position sensor, and it fixed the problem. Though had to remove valve cover to get to it
My mother in law's 2000 lexus rx300 was having battery issues from sitting a while after she had her 3rd stroke. Since she wasn't going to drive it, she wanted to sell it. So, I went and jumped it and it started right up. We took it to O'Reillys and everything shut down. We had to jump it again and we made it to O'Reillys. We got an agm battery. There was a loose connection in the wiring harness connector to the alternator. I replaced that and haven't had a problem after she sold it... at least, haven't heard of any problems.
This one is one of the easiest to repair of your car repair videos, thanks A LOT =] I'm hoping to buy soon an OBD, there's no obd available here in our country still need to buy from other country. =l
I had the same problem with a 99 Dodge Ram Van 1500 with the small 6. I would drive and it would just stop. It was worse on hot days. I replaced all the relays to no avail. I purchased a used but low miles ECM and no more problems. Over heated computer is the problem.
Scott I have an issue with my 07 f550 V10. It drives fine no rough idle. But when I come to a stop it does. But it fires right up when I turn the key back on. What do you think it could be. I have no codes coming on or check engine light at all.
My favorite auto repair guy! I've started to hope that it's your videos when I click something off Google. They've all been so informative. Thank you and please keep up the killer videos!
Hey thanks Scott for responding so fast your awesome I recommend alot of people to go and view your tube videos your the best and very knowledgeable p.s this car doesn't have maf sensor so it will most likely be fuel pressure regulator but what if I change it out and I don't have a leaking fuel injector then where should I look next . Thanks again scotty
Hi Scotty, thank you for all the great advice & Videos.Would a worn out Crankshaft sensor cause my 2007 Rio to stall randomly then startup again after a few minutes?
Hi Scotty, I really enjoy your videos. You have saved me a lot of money. If you would can I get your advice? I have an 04 impala that will randomly die when stopping or stopped. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump wiring harness, ignition switch, lock cylinder, even the starter. I saw one of your videos about cleaning the throttle body and I was wanting to know if that might help me. You are very knowledgeable and I trust your advice. If so how exactly would I do that on my 04 impala?
I've started getting a problem on these cold mornings with my 2007 corolla verso 2.2 Diesel will start the first time without a problem and idle normally. After about one minute or so warning light will show up on the dash than fter another 30 seconds the engine cuts out. When the engine dies, I can restart again without a problem and the whole scenario starts over this happen until the engine warms up. once the temperature reaches 60 and the blue light goes off the car works fine the rest of the day. I cleaned the EGR, polished the glow plugs and tested them, put a new fuel filter, tried a working SCV from my mate's car, and did a full tank with fuel treatments. None of the above-mentioned worked however the car performance is much better. I tried to warm up the fuel rail line with a hot cloth soaked in hot water and will top it with hot water every now and then and the car did not cut off but won't drive as normal unless the engine itself is warmed up. Once it is warmed up it runs fine. Any idea what else could it be? Thank you
I have a 2002 Chevy cavalier, the trac light has been coming on randomly and shifting rough. It also died while driving randomly. Any advice? Could it be a sensor? Love to hear back from ya! Awesome videos.

you sir are hilarious and informative, the best way i learn.thank you for this.
@@christinamartinez8132 maybe ya fuel pump is going bad

Scotty you are the King of our planet 🌍 🙏👍

Love this guy... Entertaining and straight forward!

@@scottykilmer hello sir, my car Chevrolet cruze automatic 2012 is in some problem and i need your suggestions. When i start the car it starts but after running for a while it automatically gets neutral from driving. And when i stop and start again it gets back to d. Plz help me about it. Also it has some issue in engine check light. Please help sir
Scotty the man.keep up the good work.love watching your videos!
Great job love his videos keep up the good work 👍

At first, I thought the one video I watched was cheesy (sorry, I was researching on reasons a car would die and then instantly start back up) *BUT* then I decided to give another video a shot... These are funny and informative! Thanks for making them.
Best video I’ve ever seen. Just had this happen lots recently.
Thanks Scotty, your the best.

Are we supposed to carry senses and fuel pumps and stuff around with us or what
Sean Sangster
No.
Yes we are supposed to carry our senses with us wherever we go, you cant exactly leave your eyes, ears, noses and mouth at home.
yes, every car i drive has a spare engine in the trunk.
Thanks
Scotty Kilmer the mr. Wizard of car repair. Thanks again Scotty!
You are amazing
I have a 1989 pontiac firebird. lately it has been dying often while driving in traffic. once In a red light, once in reverse and once while turning. it will start right back up. I'd like to get a general idea before spending hundreds of dollars
Viridiana Trevino, you could try techron like I do. works wonders, it cleans out your fuel injectors, if the problem persists, the fuel pump is the culprit, good luck.

Mazda. What I’m having trouble with ;) Love that you SHOW exact problem, recreate it, then fix it. Thanks Scotty!
Mr Scotty i was kind of sad and depressed. By too much troubles. In life. being homeless and as I was searching for mechanical info for my old car. And after watching your funny video. Realized. We should not. Worry in. life. That much. And. Enjoy life ! Thanks
what if there is no scan code.
Then you are driving a POS car...lol
Billie Bartley AutoZone or O'Reilly's can test it with their scan tool for free
Same trick applys on girlfriend too😜🔨
Hit her with a hammer she dies?
and remember! lol
Thanks
Hey Andy do you know where the camshaft position sensors are located ?. Please help
What was the issue? I’m having the same problem
I bought Lemur's BlueDriver over a year ago. Love it
You're fucking cute
You're the coolest guy ever ☺️
that boy scotty a wild one
Thank God for the internet 🙏
It's a blessing or a curse , depending on how you used it . It can make you or break you .this video was exactly what I was lookin for 👌
Scotty. I have been watching u not so long ago and these older videos are great. And have hardly change 👍
Thank you Scotty, you are genius, very straight forward man.
This man is really perfect in a lot of ways.
This guy is a riot! And good information to boot.
You go Scotty!!
wow god bless you Men your spirit has alot of light you'll be rewarded in ways you can't even imagine.
hi Scotty your the best. best way to check your cam sensor with out a multimeter
Though had to remove valve cover to get to it
on my toyota pick up 1992 the problem was the cooling sensor temperature/ and the thermostat i change it and now runs like champ
thanks for giving me knowledge and putting a smile on my face at the same time
Scotty is my favorite.
This one is one of the easiest to repair of your car repair videos, thanks A LOT =]
I'm hoping to buy soon an OBD, there's no obd available here in our country still need to buy from other country.
Mine was doing that. It was a MAP sensor. Like mass airflow sensor.
Sounds like a beast sounds like a beast you did a good job
This dude should of been an actor. My cool get to the point. Thank dude
Thankyou very much scotty. I found this video very much useful for my Fiat
Thanks Scotty for this tip. It could save a lot of time.
DeezSteez do those first, they are normally the cause
Hi Scotty, thank you for all the great advice & Videos.Would a worn out Crankshaft sensor cause my 2007 Rio to stall randomly then startup again after a few minutes?
Scotty, how many jumps did you make while in the airborne?
Nice Scotty! O’Reilly Auto Parts sells that Intermotor brand now. It’s used to be BWD.
I've got mk6 fiesta 2005... Just stalls when driving / idling.. No error code showing, cleaned throttle body, replaced tps sensor, repositioned relays, cleaned pump filter, new oil filter, cleaned sensor on front wheel arm... Still stalls.. Pls advice Scott!
Fix it?
I fixed mine just today 🙌 ,thank you
