I'll have to watch this a couple more times to get it down pat but I want to hit the ground running when my 800 arrives. I've got it down. Had used mine several months now. Thanks.

(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
Great video. Keep making these videos please. There are not many videos that show how to use the settings. Your lighting and video quality is amazing, your description is clear and easy to understand, and it’s helping me a lot. Reading the manual only gets you so far. Many like me, learn better seeing rather than reading. Thanks!
wayne_etc as I just got my detector. And it has so many videos. If you could make a video on basic setup, how to setup and use the different audio features, discrimination, and going through the different settings, noise cancel, tone, ... Great work
Thank you for doing this video!!!! Minelab should have put out some how to videos for the Nox!!! I have been using the quick start program. I did use tracking one time ,but could not get it to work today. Now I know what I did wrong!!! Great job!! HH & GL
When you choose a field and set-up according to manual....each field has a ground compensation/balance level built into it and in the upper New England states, that has served me very well. The other methods of ground grab, I have never had to use. Going to states with more of the heavy red clay type soil quite often needs the addition of the auto ground tracking or ground grab.
Very informative video I was going to buy the 800 but watching a couple of videos today I think 600 would be better for me and saving $300 as I only want to do the beach and parks
i killed parks and beaches with my Vanquish 440, they are dirt cheap. might be another option. Absolutely fell in love with my Equinox the minute i put it together out of the box.
When looking for clean ground prior to ground balancing, does it matter what sensitivity level the machine is on? The following is my problem. I turn the machine on. I set which detecting mode I want. Normally at this point my sensitivity is already set at 20. I then pinpoint to check for clean ground so I then can do my noise cancellation. Only problem is when I am checking for clean ground, I can't seem to get clean ground with my sensitivity at 20. Does it matter if I lower my sensitivity just so I can find clean ground and then do my noise cancellation and than ground balancing? Then after that turn my sensitivity back up to 20.
Thanks for the video. That is the incorrect way to noise cancel. You do not put the coil on the ground. You hold the metal detector straight out about above the ground, You are noise cancelling for surrounding EMI not whats in the ground. Manual Ground Balance, Auto Ground Balance and Auto track were correct.
Don- That can be argued...lots of EMI can come from the ground as well. Minelab has always stated to hold the detector up..and (I do this with my gold machines) however there is a well known authority that says to keep the coil on the ground.. and that is how some of us have been doing it with the CTX Just FYI strick
You could argue that but EMI is really just RFI (radio frequency interference). Your going to get interference from powerlines, cell towers and radio towers 90% of the time not from the ground unless your metal detecting over power lines laid in the ground. This comes with the territory of any digital circuit.
Great video! thank you so much for this awesome information, new to the hobby and just bought the 600 and trying to learn all the pro,s & cons to get the best results hope this works on the beach?, please respond, thanks
Thank you! I bought the 800 a few months ago and this is a great video. Question: Does the ground balance technique work for all modes including gold modes?
Gold mode defaults to tracking ground balance, and Minelab recommends keeping it on tracking for gold mode. I'm assuming it's possible to manually or auto gb in gold mode though.
Me too, but im slightly discouraged. Ive seen several videos showing poor depth on the 600. Have you experienced this? Mine was just dropped off by FEDEX an hour ago from kellyco. I cant wait!
@@tommcfarland5368 My pleasure. I have to admit my Tesoro Eldorado uMax and Vaquero were some of the deepest machines I've used. Where the Nox shines is its ability to pick goodies out of iron. Have fun!
I did ground balance here it went as low as 35 anyway I tried it it was great you did me a favour I knew about this but I forgot few things anyway after a hour trying my new knife out I put it on gold wow coins yipee it works great if you do the gold one
So when would you need to use the autotracking ground balance, when you know that the mineralization of the soil changes as you are hunting? Like going from sand dunes down to the beach type of situation, I imagine it would be better to do it separately in the 2 different areas, but just for example?
Question: For the Equinox 600, what has happens if you do not ground balance before detecting in a park on soil? Also, do you need to ground balance before detecting on the beach on the dry sand or wet sand?
Iffy Signals Apologies, Iffy. Apparently you can adjust the first tone only on the 600, but you can change all tones on the 800. From the manuaI page 47. I haven't experimented with this at all.
great video ...quick question ..can I use normal Bluetooth headphones with this machine without having the little box thing to send to headphones ? thanks
Hey Duane. Thanks for the question. No. You don't need the wireless module. The wireless module is a way to use corded headphones "cordlessly". You plug corded phones into the module and the module connects wirelessly to the detector. Then you just clip the module on your belt. So the module is sending the signal from the corded phones to the detector. You can just use aptx low latency headphones or earbuds with the Equinox 600 right out of the box, no module is necessary. I use Soundpeats q9a+ earbuds. Also check out the Miccus SR-71 headphones. These are the SAME EXACT headphones that come with the Equinox 800 but without the Minelab emblem. Let me know if you have any other questions.

For wet sand and shallow water you have to noise cancel while coil is in the ground or else you will keep getting false signal in high sensitivity.
Thanks for the tips and the vids, I learned a lot. Will GB on the sand at the beach and the air in my neighborhood.
If I’m not mistaken. When doing a noise cancel. The coil should be in the air and it on the ground. At least that’s what the manual tells me.
You point it towards the source of the EMI. If its coming from the ground you put it on the ground
MrDoccus that’s for noise canceling

Yep. I generally hold it the coil about waist high.

do you balance the ground effects every time you go hunting?
do you really need to do this?
when to do it or not?

Equinox has automatic ground balance tracking so for most uses there is no need to ground balance manually
