@danielscheppman2664 it's a way to help me keep the channel going.
As someone who just bought an equinox 900 and just learning about detecting I appreciate you making this video to help guide me in my endeavors.
Thanks for watching
I’ve been at the hobby for decades but brand new to ML and I have the 900. This was really helpful, thanks for sharing! You put out really nice content.
Thank you. Glad it helped.
I totally agree with you. I ground balance to match the way I hunt.
I appreciated the nuanced conversation on ground balancing vs. sensitivity. I'm not well-versed enough to comment yet, but your thought process was illuminating. Consider me subscribed.
Thank you, glad to have you on board.
I totally agree with the way Your doing it... Set, then reset... Should give the best at depth ( & maybe add to depth).. as far as the auto, I agree, But to be fair will test in prospecting, beach, & park mode in mineralized ground... Making 2 passes over area ( one with it on & one off) & note if more targets found, their sounds, & depth to find out if there is a notable difference...
Stay Safe & God Bless

Ron thanks for your attention to not only the veteran detectorist, but those of us just learning. Appreciate your attention to detail and willingness to share! Happy hunting!

@@SodBustersMetalDetecting I look forward to your teaching videos.
Thank you for this Larry All your videos that you teach us are valuable information. Thanks for all you do
Thank you. I appreciate that
Great video! I needed this because I have a big area in my yard that I want to hunt so bad, but the minerals and concrete make it constantly go off.
You need a trip to Florida soon. Excellent video on Ground Balancing. Quiet ground is the biggest issue of all.
Thanks I'm going to purchase the 700 soon great to learn..

I feel you are right about ground balancing, I put my 800 in all metal mode to find a clean spot, Thank you for the walk through Carl
That's a way also. I just find the punpoint to be more sensitive and aids in finding the cleanest area
Thanks for taking the time to produce this video, it cleared up a few things for me, it's nice to watch and learn from other 900 users. I bought my Nox 900 last year and was only able to use it a few times. This year however, I'm newly retired, so... I'm now able to catch up on watching videos and I expect to get out more often and really use it. I might even try it today, weather depending, it's supposed to be in the upper 50's this afternoon. I'm in Southeastern lower Michigan. Keep the videos coming. Happy Hunting!!
You can also watch my equinox 800 videos as the 900 operates identical other than a couple small features.
Great video!
Awesome I will be using this today on the 700
Thanks so much for the information. I'll definitely be saving this video for future reference. We're buried in snow here in Southeast Idaho, so I'm learning all I can before it warms up. Thanks again!
Us idahoans need to pray for spring to come on lol
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting I think we're starting Second Winter!
Good video, very valid point and thought about sensitivity depth 👍
Great info Larry, very helpful. See you tonight at the live!
Great, see you there
Yes... you are right !
Thanks for the information my friend...I'm more of a turn on and go kinda guy and I find tons with my Nox 800 but this is the first time I have actually taken a few notes so that I can fine tune it a bit. Stay warm and happy hunting!
It is very helpful in mineralized ground. Thanks for watching
Good explanation! I have heard continuous ground balance can cause the loss of good targets. It seem to be more relevant in high mineralized ground when gold hunting.
If you are using gold modes the ground tracking is automatically on. In the other modes you have the option
Thanx man, your vids are extremely helpful to me and my son, coffee comin' bro.
Thank you brother I appreciate it. Your helping me improve my channel. Thanks again
I enjoyed your video and thank for sharing.
Thanks for watching
I have my Minelab 900 after watching your videos it looks like the hardest thing to do is remember the sequences of steps to do when you first start out for the day and each time i will change from field to beach and so on i know it will take time to remember and the more i do it ill remember and should become second nature just an automatic thing to do...
You will learn it in no time. Feel free to find Sod Busters Metal Detecting Facebook group and I will be available for questions you may have. Very basic in the beginning, turn it on, noise cancel adjust sensitivity and start hunting.
As soon as i get my SSI ill get you some coffee
Very good information!❤️
Thank you for watching
Well explained Larry. I keep mine on 0 just as recommended by Minelab and my 900 is doing fine so far. 😊😊😊

Actually...I want to tell you something I live in an archaeological area..it was inhabited by ancient civilizations such as the Greeks and Byzantines..and they used to put their treasures inside the rocks.. I do all settings for my equinox 800 ..I should get more accurate information about ground balance to get a great results
ok..my note is
when tracking rocks , I listen to beeps over the rocks ...are these false beeps ..or true beeps ,note that they were put their treasures in enclosed rocks
especially this machine designed to hunt tiny gold
what is your opinion sir ????
Great Infor. I haven't brought a new machine yet but I'm leaning to the 900. And thanks again.
When you are ready, contact Dan at outlawmetaldetectors.com
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting i will do that. I got a shovel and hand spade and a pointer after watching your vido on them .

I am new so new im waiting on my 900 to be delivered i just retired and have been wanting to get in to this hobby for years your videos are teaching me a lot about how to set up my 900 before it even get to my house thanks ill have to get you a coffee...
Thank you! Feel free to find Sod Busters Metal Detecting Facebook group also. I am always available to answer questions there and help you whenever needed.
Great content thank you sir
Thank you for watching
I go with the Auto ground balance ! I only do manual ground balance if the machine is unstable! If I do ground balance manualy I always go as high on sensativity as possible the machine's stability . Hope this makes sense! Thank You Larry!
Yes and I agreed. Thank you for the Coffee my friend, it is greatly appreciated 😊
I’ll still never get ground balance. But I’ll give it a go next time I’m out and getting that pesky interference with the 800. Your a good lad. Till the next video. Cheers.
Just find ground where there is no signal, put in ground balance mode, hit the accept/reject button as you pump the coil.
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting do you have to hold the accept/reject button while pumping?
@@mythilitos yes
My 900 is coming today, thanks for the video!

Hello!!!
Best regards from Poland!!!👊👊👊
As someone starting from scratch with an Equinox 700, your videos are really helpful as some of the other RUclips vids assume that you know what they are talking about.... and us newbies haven't got a clue.
I have been getting a lot of fluctuating VDI's over a small area, with number ranging from 20's to 80's.....im guessing this is a combination of noise cancel, ground balance and sensitivity?
It can be a lot of different targets in that area. Sometimes you will get multiple targets per swing. Concentrate on the tones and not the vdi.the vdi will not be as helpful as the tones.
Try increasing your Recovery Speed (Power). This will decrease your depth of detection.
Hello Mr Sod Buster, I do have a comment about ground balancing, I found that when you use auto ground balancing and you spend too much time over a target, then it will balance the minerals with the target, as long as you don't spend too much time over a target then I believe it will be OK in the auto mode.
Hola amigo lo felicito por su video, éxito en sus aventuras y hallazgos, saludos cordiales desde chile para usted compañero 🙋♂️🇨🇱👍⛏️👏🤝
Thank you. I appreciate you watching
Can’t wait for more Nox 900 videos
Another coming out next Friday 😊
Great info.Larry. And with that info.iam thinking about running my sen.all the way up then ground bal.then run my sen.down and see if I can gain more depth in my soil. What do you think?
It would be interesting to find out. Let me know what you find out.
I always ground balance every time I change sensitivity it matters
Alex came down under to new Zealand we can go out for a hunt I not very experienced need some we can put up
Thank you for all your time and effort to put together your videos, its greatly appreciated. Your a great teacher. I was looking at a video by Derek of "the detecting channel" from FL. He did a video where he discriminated a range of numbers so he could better find targets in a area. There were some metal lawn chairs in a beach area and he ran his 800 around the chairs, made note of the numbers then made adjustments to the 800 so it would not pick up the chairs thus having a better chance of finding coins or jewelry around the chairs. How do you do this with the 700 which I have and I'm sure it's the same as the 900?
Start at the 16:40 mark ruclips.net/video/Rc0BHQGKzWs/видео.html
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting thanks I will che k it out, I'm assuming it's the same concept with the 700 and 900
@@texascrossbowdude636 yes
I am on the same page as you. Ground balance to the depth you are going to detect.
Thanks Brett, it makes sense to me.
Good Theory, Interesting topic. I heard many say once you change anything up on the Nox You should noise cancel again. so do you ground balance before noise cancel and then again after ground balance? I myself do not use ground balance at all and sometimes I do not even noise cancel. For the going on 11yrs. I just mostly turn on and swing. I either use park 1 or 2 or Beach 1 or 2. But this yr I might tweak out the setting more just cause I will be going over grounds I have pounded on. Thanks For sharing, Food For Thought.. Peace
You would want to noise cancel first and then ground balance. I recommend noise canceling every so often to keep the detector optimized
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting I agree. But sometimes there is no Emi interfering with the detector. I do noise cancel when I feel the need. Ground Balance is something I should play around with more.
Makes sence
My issue is being a bench top person you can't experiment much inside because of interference and you can't shield you unit from it.
So experimenting has do be done in a controlled setting or distant field.
You don't do any outside test?
Yes but today monsoon and wind...what I'm saying is wish I could test inside
I agree .. Auto ground Trac is not for me.. Good luck 👍
Thanks very much for this info...i live in mass..
I just got my new 900 yesterday.. and i have alot to learn...coming from a 19 year Dfx...
I like the auto ground balance ill practice this...
Thanks again..

Thanks for watching
When you use tracking ground balance do you still have to go through the pumping up and down or do you just turn on the squiggely icon and hunt? thanks and apreciate your advice!
I suggest you do an automatic ground balance first and then turn on the tracking
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting Thanks, I'll try it
Barely ever GB never had much of an issue
Do dubbing in hindi sir your videos are useful for everyone
I still haven't found the time to go out and play with mine and I bought it last year, or maybe I just a little afraid of it lol
Don't be afraid of it, use the preset programs and have fun
Where do I go to find out the mineralized content of my area I live close to the south coast of Massachusetts. What about GB at saltwater beaches Massachusetts Massachusetts
The forest service or BLM may have geological records you could review
I just use auto tracking on ground balance,, alot less fuss
If you have to change your ground balancing all the time as you are detecting this machines sounds like it will not be very fun to run.
Any time you run ground balance on any machine it will be that way unless you choose to run auto ground balance
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting Maybe I was misunderstanding you. You said it can change within 10 feet which is true but I thought you were saying to run it that way and if you have to rebalance every ten feet that's what you do. What I was getting at is why would you run a machine where you had to ground balance that often. That would take all the fun out of metal detecting.
@@Stoney47 with the Equinox you don't have to ground balance at all unless you are in highly mineralized ground.
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting Thanks for the tip.

No I'm up north
