    Considering one right now. Big discounts on the vin fast vs Model Y in Canada. Plus the 10 year warranty says that you won't have to pay for any repairs to the car for any failing parts. Yes they are not close to Tesla yet with the interface and pedigree etc etc....but thats why you get the discount. NOW, what if you consider a 2-3 year old Model Y vs New Vinfast? That's a similar cost base then. Which way to go? im on fence.....but the potential high costs of Tesla repairs after their warranty runs out 4 years from new is something to consider. Any advice appreciated

    • @teslasincanada
      @teslasincanada  11 месяцев назад

      I would recommend taking a test drive of both and getting a good feel for them both driving wise and how all the controls work. Also go on Facebook and Join some of the High Milage Tesla Groups. You can learn a lot in there. I personally don't see a concern with high maintenance on a Tesla after warranty. I will be getting mine inspected prior to the warranty expiring and then having it all repaired under warranty any parts that show signs of potential issue.

    VF8 has 400 Volt architecture and its onboard charger only allows 150kW fast charger.
    Given VF8 has 82 or 87kWh battery capacity that is divided by 150kW fast-charger then we have roughly 0.58 hour to fill up the battery or roughly 30 minutes to get up to 80% capacity. 😮
    My Tesla Model Y accepts Tesla 250kW DC fast-charger so it cuts the wait time to under 20 minutes.
    My wife Lucid and lots of other new EV cars accept 350kW DC fast-charger so the wait time is roughly 10 minutes. 😊

    • @ChienNguyen-nx4yw
      @ChienNguyen-nx4yw 5 месяцев назад +1

      It's understandable that fast charging on vf8 is lower. After all, their battery technology is lower than their competitors, so it's normal not to support large charging currents, but anyway, a new company will need time for them, if If they negotiate well with Chinese battery companies, it will be sooner or later to have impressive charging capabilities like Chinese models.

      You can't just divide the battery capacity by the peak DCFC rate. Electric cars usually only charge at their peak charge rate from 0% to ~30%.
      VinFast quotes the VF8 to charge in about 31 mins from 10% to 70%, so only about 60% charge gained in 31 mins.
      In comparison the Model Y can charge from 0% to 80% in the same about of time.

      @@teslasincanada My opinion is that consumers should not pay for manufacturers, either they are cheap enough or they are good enough. But currently, I haven't seen any of them on this product. Perhaps it will improve in the future, but before that, I advise consumers to wait and see.

      Personally I don't like the Musky smell of the Model Y, nor the "kitchen counter with tablet and wheel". VF8 has "plenty of physical controls" (including basic stuff like pointing the AC around). Price-point of the VF8 is also better especially if you want AWD. "Consumers should not pay for manufacturers" is in fact exactly why I preferred the VF8 and wasn't going to pay extra for the Tesla T on it (That LED V is pretty cool though). It was both cheap enough AND good enough.
