- Hello viewers! We finally get to drive the Vinfast VF8. An SUV that has had some less than positive reviews but were they correct? What did we think of this offering from a Vietnamese EV Start up?

It's really rare for people to tell the truth and be as fair as you. Very realistic and useful for users. I don't understand the articles, and some people have never tried driving this car model, or they have some really bad thoughts and put all their anger on this car. Oh it's not bad, it's a good car, it fixed all the problems quickly. Consumers are now often guided by bad RUclipsrs. You are a wonderful person. God always blesses those who are gentle and do not lie. I hope luck will accompany you and your family wherever you are

Here in San Jose CA, these cars are everywhere and one of our neighbors got one for his wife which she loves way more than their old Tesla model y (which got totaled in a wreck). Our neighbor says it rides better than the model y and they haven’t had a single issue with it at all. Whereas the model y they had, it was plagued with software issues and one of the windows stopped working 😂.

Vinfast cars are very solid, roomy and heavy. You will feel very safe when driving them.

Glad to see reviews from Canada, especially Montreal QC. By the way, it looks like no reviewers have ever tested the voice command, it would nice to test it. I'm wondering if it works well. I tested the VF8 Plus with a friend last week and we both really liked it.

Alexa Voice commands works for most of it, like opening moon roof, a/c on etc but right now it's limited but very good.

I owned 2023 Vinfast VF8 and confirmed that it it truly a solid EV car. I loved it and drove it every day. Once you're driving Vinfast , you don't want to drive any other car.
How many miles you drive a day ? Did you try in the heavy snow day ? How long it last on -5 -10 °F or you just drive around your town ?

Last week I took a trip from Vancouver to Harrison Hot Spring to see the tulips festival and soak my feet in the hot springs. My VF8 eco is run in Eco mode and I use the ADAS function most of the time. This is my test to see how far the car can run in 12 degree Celsius weather. As a result, during the 260km journey there and back, my car lost 50% of its battery. Usually I use Standart mode, the car can run about 43 - 45 km on 10% battery. I think, if I run it in Sport mode, it will run about 36- 38km on 10% battery. However, I rarely run in sport mode because it is too powerful and unnecessary in the city. I think it's not as bad a car as negative people say.

Those are very bad cars. They assemble from poor quality Chinese components. Their assembly does not care about specifications. They just know how to install and tighten the screws so they don't fall out. They assembled it just like assembling a cow cart or horse cart

I have a VF9 working very well, very smooth so far.
VF8 is also good, but it's smaller and suitable with a smaller family.

Lease here in US is $250 at $2300 down. My eco plus during the deal was $350 3 yr payment. But agreed upon purchase price is $28k!!!!!. That intro offer. Now it's $35k after all incentives. $350 3 yr. Which is still better than other for the quality and features you get on this car. Our near by dealership Leith Vinfast is great.
How was the service at the dealer?
250 usd is about 360$ CDN so close to the 399$ 2000$ cdn down offer here. Keep it 4 years and then get another.
If it was the $250 deal a few months ago, then it should be $0 down. $2300 is not down payment, it's the fee paid for registration, dmv, ...

Probably the scathing comments on the vf8 made by for example Donut were just a little biased I think. At the very beginning, there were indeed some shortcomings within the vf8's design and software such as the incessant chimes or dysfunctional blinkers but Vinfast gradually has ironed those things out.
Maybe the preproduction models weren’t that great. I wasnt there but as I mentioned how bad could it have actually been.
For a car company that’s 5 years old, coming from one of the poorest country on earth, it’s stunning. Compare Vinfast to Tesla in its first five years, with all the government backing of the US & and the support of the most powerful VC culture, Vinfast did something incredible. Great things are on the horizon. Impressive start.

Net loss quarter annually more than 600 million dollars since 2019. Reliability is still in big question mark? Lately the CEO or OWNER had to go on TV to convince people with his last penny for vinfast...why does he have to say that? The vinfast in trouble with finance?😂😂😂😂. VF8 in 2023 brand new sells half price under 30K dollars
@@vutran3183 Look at the history of any modern car companies, the loss are much greater in the beginning. Tesla, and many EV loss money, and most continue to lose money. This is how a car company entered the big league, not a place for little boy.

Here in Vietnam, people use Vinfast is everywhere and it is completely safe.
It doesn't mean anything when the whole test transportations were broken down badly throughout the country, that means bad car would become a good car if you have money
Guess range is pretty accurate, i have plus model it's pretty accurate even though i use A/C drive at 70mph speed. I rarely see 10 miles drop max.

Plus they also have a after sales policy that you should look into.
Im a proponent of leasing EVs the warranty is good for peace of mind for the second owner. Il say this, I trust Vinfast more than Fisker. However they need to fix the latency on between motor engagement and when you press on the accelerator
@@simplygregsterev Fisker is a start-up. Vinfast is new project of the biggest vietnam company, Vingroup. Vinfast rent VW techicans chief, bought car test company in Australia. They built Formula F1 road for F1 race in VN, but covid was happened and they have to shutdown.
Vinfast Software Kernel is QNX of Blackberry (canada). Good for sercurity, bad for short connections (bluetooth,..)
Power liftgate and sunroof and 20 inches tires in the plus model.
Also no spair tire on all ev due to the weight
I can live without the 20s and glass roof but at that price point power lift gate should be standard across all specs. The 20s arent worth the range hit on a longer drive. Also I like tall tires, especially here

I own this car in Vietnam. I think this car is good, I am confident when driving it at high speed
I am a VF8 owner, and to be fair, the huge amount of initial terrible reviews stem from May 2023, when Vinfast released their very basic stripped down CITY version to a bunch of american reviewers, with still not quite market ready software. Also back then the pricing model was based on EV going rates at the time which have since come down drastically. It was a mistake by Vinfast, they should have waited until their software was more polished and the car itself had suspension engineering improvements. Fast forward a year, and the VF8 today you are driving is far and a away removed from that CITY version the reviewers based everything on. Structural improvements were made, battery charge improvements, and definitely software upgrades. But now they are playing catchup. But for us early purchasers and leasers who can see beyond those crappy initial reviews, are benefitting. 10 years warranty bumper to bumper is worry free commitment from them to us early adopters. More will be sold in the coming months and they are expanding their networks and dealerships. There are constant software improvemnts that will continue in the months ahead. But already, its a very enjoyable ride with so many options ( you are this happy with the ECO version, the Plus version adds so many more features). And in my case the service was beyond excellent....but in the GTA there are already 3 running dealerships while quebec is still limited. It will get better out there. and no, I am not a shill, but a unbiased real customer..... who has owned 3 other electric cars before this one.

Bạn có thể nói dối nhưng ko thể nói dối cả đời rằng 1 chiếc xe tốt nó tệ hại. Rồi mọi người sẽ nhận ra ai xấu ai tốt. Hơn nữa VinFast ở Mỹ ko phải mục tiêu chính, mà là để tạo thương hiệu. Nếu thương hiệu đó tốt theo năm tháng thì các thị trường khác như Ấn Độ, Indonesia...sẽ trở nên dễ dàng

I’ll admit, I was one of those that loved to bash vinfast when I saw those reviews. I’m also in Quebec so I see them fairly often. I don’t think it’s a bad looking car at all. I don’t like the look of that ui, though. The latest reviews saying how it’s improved and the attractive lease rates would make me consider one. How is the sound system?

I have both VF8 Plus and Model Y. They are both good with their own quirks as you mentioned. But the new Tesla prices are more attractive than a new entrant in the EV market.

In VN, tons of these cars have been moved to the owner's taxi company (mainly to book fake revenue and sale figure) but thousands are being stored in empty land due to no contract.
You can find much better Chinese EV at that price but maybe US strict ban may prevent US customers from having better options

Calling at canada night, vinfast service team in vietnam will be accepted your call. Most of this team english skill is good and knows alot of things about VF8.
The dealership people were friendly but the sales experience wasn’t the greatest. The General Manager was amazing and product specialist.
@@simplygregsterev Last year, a Vietnamese person from Hanoi made a trip around the United States and visited several Canadian states. He said that many people who work for Vinfast in Canada do not know much about cars. Is the salesperson with poor understanding Vietnamese or Canadian?

@@vutran3183 Accidents can happen to all types of cars and car brands. Both gasoline and electric cars, even Tesla, have many accidents. Police are investigating the accident. related to the speed when the car broke the light pole and crashed into the tree.
@@NguyenSon-iv5ju There are only few hundreds of new EV VF8 on the road in North America but this is a huge deadly accident to a new vinfast brand. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will be part of this investigation. Be patient before purchasing one.
