    The winter in the Chicago area was very mild. So far only 2 inches total of light fluffy. Temperatures were mild compared to previous years. Then we had a true Chicago winter. Temperatures played with 0 F. for 5 days. When I heard the prediction. I took my 2023 Ford Mustang Mach -E to a "AE" Charging station. I charged it to 80%. It sat in my garage for 5 days. I had a doctors appointment. It was a 0 F morning. I pressed the start button. The charges graph and mileage predictor. Show I had ZERO charge and 5 miles predicted.

    yeah on a super cold day at that speed, roughly 180~190 miles is what the premium eAWD Extended range battery will get. I have a 2024 and drove it in colder at higher speed and got about that. Ford seems good at balancing range and battery condition. I have been very happy with mine and it's performance in the winter. mine still got that in -5F to -10F wind chill doing 75MPH on a flat Kansas highway. it was in the 170-180 miles range (displayed battery percent, it actually reserves 10% at the bottom and 10% at the top when charging for health. so when it is at 0% it actually has 10% left in the pack and when it is at 100% it has 10% not charged in the pack. to kind of explain it. so even though the pack is 91kWh the 0-100% usable range is more like 72.8kWh). Also the Mach-e Premium is the "fully loaded" model and not the base. There is a base model and I don't think you can option the extended range battery and eAWD on that. The GT and Rally are special upgraded higher performance versions of the Premium. Adding magnaride suspension, racing seats, and upgraded motor and visual upgrades (nothing else). This is true for the 2024 model year and basically 2025.

    Good information regardless. I don't need to see the car to stop moving to understand what the effective range is. I need to check what my last trip legs worked out to. 110 km/h is the highway speed limit. I did a lot of 401 runs and most of the ICEV in the conditions presented in the video were doing lower speeds for normal reasons : black ice and no winter tires. And maybe the ICEV owners wanted to save some money given the gasoline price.

      @@BlueGorilla111 You can get the battery pack of a used EV tested very easily, using an OBD plugged into the car's diagnostic socket. This can provide a print-out of the battery's state of health. You won't have a battery bill of £10k. You can have the battery pack refurbished at a fraction of that price. I wouldn't expect to need this doing until the car is 10 to 12 years old. A UK based independent EV specialist carried out a battery pack refurbishment on a 10 year old Nissan Leaf here on RUclips. The job took 4 hours, and the cost was £500.

    Very interesting, Well done - In future test mentioned please compare CarScanner w/your professional tool when you scan a. rental or older EV. Would love to see how close the consumer tools come to the ProTools.. lots of used car dealers don’t do any type of battery check so consumers need to be armed with some sort of tool or know what kind of tool to ask a third-party mechanic to use to check a car before they buy. Still early days for used EV markets lots of shady dealers out there. I’ve been trying to buy one for months. Wish leaf spy would expand their tool to be more generic for all major EV types. Their tool seems to be the best consumer tool but sadly, I’m not buying a leaf.

    Isn't nacs a bad choice? I realize they are lighter and easier to plug in, but they are limited to 250kw, versus 350kwh for the ccs2 connectors. And with the ccs2 plugs there are more pins to support technologies like v2g and V2h which are crucial for the future. The reason nacs was lighter is because it does not contain the same amount of conductive metal. But if Tesla wishes to increase speed, out will also weight more, and it still won't support technologies such as v2g and V2h. Something else important: you can downgrade a ccs2 with a simple adapter, but you can't upgrade a nacs port to a ccs2 (missing pins) . Another example is the Hyundai v2l (another protocol) which allows you to use your charging port as a regular 110v or 220v plug . That's also only possible if you have ccs2. I think that at some moment in time (soon) Tesla will upgrade to a new plug, and that will create a whole compatibility mess during years.

      Look up J3400

    • @sebkeccu4546
      @sebkeccu4546 4 дня назад

      @@simplygregsterev I know, but was my point, they now are migrating to this new standard that is almost a replica of the CCS2, all the cars with CCS2 had already these advantages, but if you're stuck with a NACS connector on your car you cant upgrade to J3400 (missing pins) and the advantages of the normal NACS port (lighteight and easy to plug) are gone with the J3400, it's the same as the CCS2. An example is the new Hyundai 5 with NACS port, you can't connect a J3400 or CCS2 adapter. If they would have creted it with CCS2, they could have created a CCS2 to J3400 adapter. CCS2 exists already 10 years and is an open standard that is used almost everywhere in the world. I found it really weird that hyundai choose to downgrade towards NACS. And for some reason all the comparisson websites NACS vs CCS focus on CCS1, offcourse that doesn't make sense to compare it to something really old. CCS2 already exists 10 years.

    70,000 km is a lot??? My 2023 Ioniq 6 has 75,000 km! I drove it a lot because I am a soccer-dad and the darn car is soooooo fun to drive. From Vernon to Vancouver ez on one charge. My battery is still 100% SOH, same OBD kWh remaining reading and my range hasn't declined a noticeable amount. Saved at least 8,000 bucks in gas over that time. They are beasts in the snow as well. Fastest vehicle on the Coquihalla in nasty winter conditions.

    The new 2025+ 800v Hyundai and Kias will do 130kw on a Tesla Supercharger, but the old ones will only do 80-90kw.

    There are great used EV deals out there. I think it's worth it. If you can deal with the Elon Musk antics, where there are good deals on used Tesla's direct from Tesla, they throw in another year of warranty

      I would be afraid of those Tesla second hand, the warranty only counts for the first buyer the second one (you) only gets one year. If something happens with the battery, you have a very expensive device that doesn't work. Hyundai extend their 8 year warranty to the second buyer.

    • @cheesun124
      @cheesun124 4 дня назад

      @sebkeccu4546 that’s incorrect. If you buy a used Tesla, from Tesla you get a one year “used vehicle limited warranty” that begins AFTER the original basic warranty expires. That speaks to the confidence the company has in their product. The Battery Warranty and the Drive Unit Warranty remain at 8 years and carry over from original purchase. Don’t be afraid!

      @@cheesun124 I thought the 8 years was only for the first buyer. Are you sure?

    • @cheesun124
      @cheesun124 4 дня назад

      @ the remainder of the 8 years is still intact, I think that’s for any car manufacturer even if the car has been sold several times. In any case, I’m sure about the Tesla because I bought mine used. The info shows the coverage in the App. So my car is a 2022 bought used in 2024. The battery and drive unit warranties are intact till 2030 or 120k miles, whichever comes first.

    The 2025+ have eliminated the low conductivity coolant completely. So the first coolant change is at 10 years.

    I have a 2024 GT performance and am in love with it. Traded my Audi in for one. There is a battery conditioning option in the ford app but it's a schedule which I'm not the biggest fan of. Overall this is the best vehicle I've ever owned.

    When I test drove one from the dealer the rear seat belts rattled against the side panels. Possible source of noise.

    "Hurt feelings of pickup truck drivers"they can't handle a performance vehicle passing them. The dual motor long range is awesome in deep snow. at 70F I spend 185w/mile at 0F 330-450w/mile
