About time we hear some Metal Church...highly underrated but influential metal band.
I especially love David Wayne's vocals during this prime era of Metal Church, awesome singer that can go from clear to a downright gravely dirty voice. I still listen to Metal Church often...especially their first two albums...they hold up to the test of time. Kurdt Vanderhoof is the heart of the band and his guitar work was very influential.
I couldn't agree more! Although W.T.C.P. is a great song, i wouldnt put this song at the top of the essential list. For starters, "Beyond The Black", "Metal Chruch", "God of Wrath", "The Dark" would all go before this one.
@@ChicagoTRS I actually prefer the Mike Howe albums (was thrilled when he returned after so many years), but that was when I was introduced to the band of course (that always seems to be a deciding factor). Their first 4 albums are all classic IMO.
@kitoyobeni1 true true...it all comes down to when you first listen to a band and become a fan...that is always their best album and best lineup. You can pretty much guess someones age by their favorite albums.
David was a great friend of mine ... I got him a job as a singing teacher at our local music teacher at our music store... In his later years before he passed away in Yakima WA... Love this song until the end.... RIP my friend 🤘 He had absolutely one of the most COMMANDING METAL VOCALS EVER👌
Metal Church - Badlands
Metal Church in my opinion should have been huge. The one thing that most likely hurt them is that they are not Thrash enough and too heavy for Glam Metal. I think that they are amazing! Another band in the same situation is Armored Saint which is another Phenomenal band.
Agreed about both bands!
I would totally agree, Metal Church and Armored Saint are 2 of/if not the 2 mozt underrated metal bands of all time. I would put John Bush right there with Dickinson, and Halford.
Finally a Sermon from Metal Church.
Heck yes! So glad you guys are getting this done. Anthem To The Estranged and In Harms Way 7 minute one are great ones too.
React to Metal Church Ton of Bricks.
Thank you for including Metal Church in your reactions. They're a classic 80's metal band who often are overlooked..for whatever reason. They have a ton of killer songs.
I agree with you. I think that they got overlooked because they were not heavy and fast enough for some Thrash Metal fans and that they were too heavy for some Glam Metal fans. I love them big time and another band in a similar situation that I also love big time is Armored Saint.
David Wayne was a beautiful person and soul! He died way too soon! One of my favorite vocalist from that Metal era!
Amen to that brother.
David Wayne and Dio best ive heard
Finally metal church check out gods of wrath you will love it
Tom Roberts 🤘🏼👍🤘🏼
And if you do check it out, DO NOT do a live video unless you can find one with the original singer (the same guy that was singing on this one).
No do Start the Fire
beyond the black. of unsound mind. in mourning. waiting for a saviour. rest in pieces.
Damnit, i can only give you one thumbs up. Wanted to give you a millon!
Metal Church is an awesome band you should listen to Gods Of Wrath from their debut
Metal Church!!!
Should also check out Fake Healer, In Mourning and In Harms Way and Waiting For A Savior.
Gravely underrated band!!!! Such a great catalog of music with multiple vocalist.
Check out Metal Church's Anthem To The Estranged is a great song. Song really touches the soul.
About got damm time. . Love me some METAL CHURCH.. great SONG. Great guitar work. This whole album kicks ass. . Saw this tour twice back in the day. . 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love seeing you guys playing bands like this. Another amazing band in from this era that is highly underrated is SAVATAGE. "POWER OF THE NIGHT" and "SIRENS" are two esstenials for sure.
Man, I haven't heard this one since high school back in the 80's. Good stuff. They may be Christians but they are not a Christian band. They wrote songs about a lot of issues.
Calling them a Christian band was the only way I could keep my hypothetical Christian father happy. He literally trashed Master of Puppets because he thought the title song was about satan. Of course he thought all metal was about satan. The dude would literally call me worthless and then try to act all godly. He knocked the shit out of me for calling him a hypocrite and that was the day I decided to move back to Indiana with my mom.
Good for you to get away from him. Hopefully your life turned out to be good
Sounds like your dad failed parenthood. When parents try to control their kids like that, they unknowingly cause their kids to become more obsessed with the things that they think should be taboo.
Did you ever go back to kick his ass.
If you like that one , I’m pretty sure you will love “Badlands” by Metal Church.
I was fortunate enough to have jammed with these guys. Dave (vocals) had a jam space next to mine. RIP Dave.
About time ! Congrats for discovering this Gem from Metal Church. There is plenty of more. One of my all time favourites.
Metal Church!!!
The only Metal Band that matters!!
Love, your reaction to a great Band!!!!!!
So glad you've finally got to Metal Church, along with Savatage they are two of the most underrated metal bands that I know of. This song is indeed a classic with a good topic of conversation. In 1991 they released an album called The Human Factor, four songs on that album with relevant lyrical content, The Final Word, In Mourning, In Harm's Way and Agent Green. Any of these would make for a great reaction and discussion.
Absolutely!! Metal Church and Savatage are amazing bands. Great suggestions for Metal Church songs. I would love for them to react to Sirens, The Dungeons Are Calling, Power Of The Night, Hall Of The Mountain King, 24 Hours Ago, Strange Wings, Gutter Ballet, Of Rage And War, Jesus Saves, Edge Of Thorns, Damien, Chance, and more from Savatage. Another great underrated band that they should check out is Armored Saint.
One of the best metal bands of all time
Thank you FINALLY doing Metal Church. A wonderful band. So many great songs. Wait till you here the second singer. Mike Howe has the most incredible metal voice I have heard. Beautiful yet powerful.
Mike Howe sucks. Ruined MC . Does not have the range, or even touch Wayne with a 10 foot pole.
@@heverbustos7993 well your comment aged poorly. Personally love both David Wayne and Mike Howe (both R.I.P.) for they contribute to Metal Church.
Sadly, I just realized he passed away with your comment. I know alot if people liked him but I could not get into his vocal style. RIP
METAL CHURCH 🤘🤘 react to full album THE DARK
My life changed at age 10 hearing THE DARK 🤘
Megadeth - Looking Down The Cross
Kreator - Enemy Of God
MegaDeth - RattleHead
Kreator - My Heaven, Your Hell
Warlord - Deliver Us. Classic US metal (from 1983) with a christian theme.
Warlord rules, and Deliver Us is quite possibly the best EP I have ever listened to. It's insane how many amazing heavy metal bands were coming out of the US in the 80s.
@@ArdensSedVirens1 I usually prefer darker or more aggressive 80s bands but damn did Warlord do the melodic thing well. Always loved that song, Winter Tears, Aliens...
@@hmpz36911 I prefer that stuff as well, but man, I still really love some of the more melodic 80s heavy metal bands. Warlord, Crimson Glory, early Fates Warning, Savatage, Fifth Angel.... Like fuck, what an incredible time period that was! So many great bands.
@@ArdensSedVirens1 Pretty Maids, Chariot, Rekuiem (formerly Requiem), Maltese Falcon, Medieval Steel. Good times
I have that EP! That song changed my life!
More Metal Church please 🙏
Yes! Finally! Essential Picks! Metal Church is one of my top 10 favorite bands of all-time, and definitely an Epic Underground Metal essential band.
The first Metal Church album is one of my all time favs. Glad you two finally got to hear them.
David Wayne was the singer. Sadly he died in a motorcycle accident. Mike How is back singing with the band. Still kicking ass today
One small fact about John Marshall (guitarist and( founder if I don't lie myself)) back in a days he was guitar tech for Metallica. 91 (not sure for the year) he "replace" James on guitar when he burn in Canada.
@@TheHill1798 well i"m not so familiar with MC story just this fack pop up in my head
P.s. Thanks for the correction
Great reaction to a great band. Grew up listening to them. New subscriber here
Thanks for doing my request, This is the shit .Rock you will love Metal Church .
A great band, very underrated. David Wayne was great on the first 2 albums. Some rough years up n down. Mike Howe is back for his second stint with Metal Church. Thanks for listening guys.
I like Howe.
Now Mike killed himself. 😔😔😔 I think Metal Church is done, as a band. Very underrated band. Rest In Peace both singers. 🙏🙏
Love Metal Church since 1984...David Wayne was wonderful...R.I.P.
hell yeah....im so glad you did this one......awesome album and group...thumbs up...the dinger can sing some high ones
A true MASTERPIECE in Metal History !!!!!
As long as we're going to Church, Beyond The Black, Hitman, Gods Of Wrath....to name a few.
I'm pretty sure that Kurdt Vanderhoof is not just the guitarist, but the leader and main songwriter of Metal Church.
YOU WOULD BE CORRECT!
Absolutely, and the only original member left.
Riff master Vander!
PEOPLE tend forget that he also came from Aberdeen, along with the Melvins besides NIRVANA the dedicate the town to Kurt Cobain.......it upsets me being from there myself
One of the GREATEST metal songs ever written and recorded.
Lead singer for Metal Church, Mike Howe passed away. He sadly took his own life very recently. RIP 2021.
Iron Maiden - For the Greater Good of God.
One of My favorite bands when I was in Highschool. My old Band used to do a cover of Metal Church song Metal church. I loved thrash metal and Metal in the late 80's awesome time to be a teenager.
Nobody had this sound at the time . loved your reaction. Try Fates Warning / Valley of the Dolls. Adjust you head phones first . lol Metal church , Has a new album Bad ass. .
Metal Church vocalist is David Wayne. He went off to form Reverend and went solo with Wayne - Metal Church album.
A highly underrated band, I’m glad you’re reacting to their songs... or song for now.
A 10 for me, no doubt! An underground classic. Love me some Metal Church :D
Good reaction, good analysis =)
#Be'lakor - Countless Skies ..! These Australian guys deserve a reaction!
Metal brought me here, but these to fine humans made sure im not leaving anytime soon.! Love you guys personality´s! Peace N Rock on!!
METAL CHURCH! clicked on this so fast so I did!

these two songs are by far their best. they destroy everything!
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Night Eternal
RIP David Wayne. Classic Metal Church!! 🎼🎤🎸🙏🏻
Hall of the Mountain King!
Did you ask what war we were in in 1986? Technically pulled out of Vietnam and didn't go into Kuwait then Iraq until 1990. Reagan was still pushing the Soviet Union to tear down the wall in 1986.
Lenobese conflict.
@@larrymockridge4653 The issues in Beruit and the entire Middle East are endless, I wouldn't call that a "war" the US has been in comparable to Vietnam or Dessert Storm.
I was reaching.
Remembering this video on MTV's Head Bangers Ball in the 80s. If you were a metal geek back then, you lived for the Ball every Saturday night. A very haunting video as I remember it. This makes me want to look up on RUclips since I haven't seen it in years.
Thank you for podcasting.
Probably my favourite Metal Church song, and yet I'm not sure I'd pick it for an "essentials" week. Don't get me wrong, I definitely think everyone should hear this song and album... it's just that there is so much stuff you haven't heard yet.
If this week ends without you reacting to Savatage, which are a band I feel was quite similar to this, but "more essential", I'll want the name of the person who picked the songs, so I can show him\her my displeasure. If both bands make it, I'll send "a thank you" message instead.
Metal Church is one of five essential need to know bands we picked in the Epic Underground Alliance, which is one of six alliances including The Core. I don't know if Vin and Sori will react to it, but we also had Savatage as one of the five essential need to know bands.
@@bobmiller6870Well, they definitely won't do all the suggested songs then, thanks for telling us how it worked!
Although that means there's too many people for me to voice my displeasure to.. so I'll have to give up on that :P
All joking aside, Metal Church and Savatage.. interesting picks, what were the other 2 if I may ask, just out of curiosity?
@@MrZeze87 LOL. It's all good. Yeah. I'm hoping they at least do Savatage, though.
Not a Christian band, the song is basically about what Nuclear War would bring, we all die at one time and the children's last prayer type of thing. Great band under rated.
Savatage, In The Hall Of The Mountain King is another song I thought of when you were talking in this video. Same kind of classic metal sound and similar voice. Not a huge Metal Church fan, but another couple songs I love by them are The Spell Can't Be Broken, and The Brave.
such a powerful song here.
Metal Church is awesome and David Wayne is one of the best metal vocalist of all time. Try "Start The Fire" next
Great to see Metal Church here
Ah, nice. Haven't heard them for a while, but I'd suggest "Little Boy", "Gods of Wrath" or maybe something from "Damned If You Do", their latest album (for a change).
Essential W.A.S.P. > Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue) - original version
It's been mentioned but I also suggest Metal Church - "Badlands" or "Fake Healer.".
I from Ukraine city Lvov,at the USSR in 86-91years now listened to Metal Church,I am very glad that this group is still in the hearts of people!!!!!!!!
This was a number one debut album for heavy metal probably in history, but definitely at the time
Thanks... im oooooooobsesssssed with Metal Church.... blood rushing
Septic Flesh - Virtues of the Beast
Please!
Mike Howe, vocalist for Metal Church, just passed. RIP
This song hit hard while serving in Iraq, with the 82nd Airborne Division.
The children I pray for, for adult mistakes.
You guys are bad ass!!! I was fucking jamming
my 4th favorite song' of Metal Church'
Badlands from Metal Church rocks!!! Check that out!
Metal church the best of the best. Listen to.. God of grath.....
Man...I thought I was the only one who felt like you guys do about prayer. I’m subscribing.
Metal Church??? Finally!!!!!! Yessssssss!!!!
Vital Remains forever underground
Metal Church is not considered a Christian band, but the singer here, David Wayne, left Metal Church and formed his band Reverened. Unfortunately, David Wayne passed away in 2015. Mike Howe took over lead vocals. Mike's debut album is Blessing in Disguise. I highly recommend reviewing the song Anthem to the Estranged.
How many know? The reason behind the thought of this song?
I’m from the Seattle area....
And a vocalist so i learned a bit back in the day.
Orbs and children circles during the night in Woodinville forests.
See if you can find any info left.
It’s mostly disappeared.
But that’s where it started.
Newspaper clips of missing children found holding hands in circles dancing in the midnight forest amongst glowing orbs in Woodinville, near Seattle.
Love their album Blessing in Disguise.
There song Gods of Wrath is absolutely stellar by them , they are to me what true traditional metal is , the singer David Wayne died in a car wreck
Kurdt Vanderhoof is the founding member of Metal Church and the guitarist.
Metal Church "The Dark"
Balady Metal is rad and defiantly needs a come back.
This band kind of reminds me a bit of an old band called Whitecross. The music from those guys helped me through a lot of crap I went through in the mid 90's.
Great band! Still putting out awesome music to this day.
Love me some Metal Church!!
RIP Mike Howe and David Wayne It's going to be a tough one to replace Mike Howe he's dymanic high light notes voice and they should begin to make a new album we didn't watch the children pray damn it children rest in peace Mike Howe
PLS REACT TO METAL CHURCH'' BEYOND THE BLACK'' u have too!!
Metal Church - The Dark is masterpiece of Metal and David Wayne vocals is the Goat of Heavy Metal screamers. (Early pioneers if thrash) hot songs: Ton of Bricks, Psycho, Line of Death, Hit man, Metal Church
Celtic Frost - Synagoga Satanae
Celtic Frost - Ain Elohim
I seen metal church in 1986 and again this year with the capable new singer. Still great.
Metal church, classic!!!!Listen Savatage,"Hall Of The Montain King" next time.
In due time by metal church
A song I wanted you guys to react to, Awesome!
was waiting for this one. This was the first song I saw on MTV's Headbanger's Ball.
Great song and review.
Metal Church!!!!! Yesssss!!!!!!
Vin, you straight up cool bro.
Another great band Cyclone temple album I hate therefore I am. The song "Words are just words". Kind of like Metal Church Watch the children pray.
It's better latter than never! Great band
